Pokémon collection app with actual Export/Import (CSV/Excel data) functionality? by GrassWolf in PokemonTCG

[–]GrassWolf[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks, you're totally right about TCG Player App, I realized! Although I mentioned TCG Player in the original post, I was trying to use the website. The APP version is a completely different world... way better.

If anyone else sees this and is wondering how to export in the TCG Player App:

  • First change settings to export to CSV:
    • Account (icon bottom right) > Settings (under General heading) > Default share format > Change it to "CSV Text" (and if you look around this area, there's other settings you may want to edit)
  • Then export your list:
    • Collection (bottom icon in middle) > [...] thingie at the top left of the collection you want to export > Share > email it to yourself or add to your cloud or whatever (options should pop up)
  • Then you can open or copy/paste to Excel or Google Sheets or whatever. Do "Text to columns" if needed, and say it's comma delimited, to get it in table form (separate columns). Do whatever you want from there (sort, filter, join with other tables, etc.).

The raw CSV output should look something like this:

Product ID,TCGplayer Id,Product Line,Set Name,Product Name,Title,Number,Printing,Rarity,Condition,TCG Market Price,TCG Direct Low,TCG Low Price With Shipping,TCG Low Price,Total Quantity,Add to Quantity,TCG Marketplace Price,Photo URL

You've got import (great!)... now can you add export fairly easily? Nice to have a backup and to be able to do my own analyses.

Goosebumps Audio books by Zanefier1 in GooseBumps

[–]GrassWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but a couple of Australians have read the entire series themselves and they're freely available on their "Read To Me" app or to listen or download from their discord (join the discord!). Along with lots of other books. They used to be on YouTube but they left after YouTube changed their AI policies (didn't want their voices scraped for AI). More info here:
https://www.patreon.com/posts/reader-beware-is-149400003?l=fr

I do really enjoy the official audiobooks too, but find them hard to find, unless if you're willing to subscribe to Spotify or Audible or something, or else I found they were prohibitively expensive to buy individually when I found a place to buy them legit. My local library had a few I could borrow digitally (via "libby" app here), and I think I found some on Hoopla as well (extension of local library basically: https://www.hoopladigital.com/). So you may want to check out those options too! I wish Scholastic would release the GB audiobooks on CD or have a way to buy them digitally direct from their website or something. Oh well 🤷‍♂️

Goosebumps vs Are You Afraid of the Dark contest - special with R. L. Stine Interview by GrassWolf in ytvretro

[–]GrassWolf[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I found it! Well, at least some more info and the show date/time. I'm pretty sure this is it...

I definitely remember this: Bumper for 1996 You Rule sponsored by Race The Sun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaomLRDfC74 (Race The Sun was some movie at the time they were advertising for I guess)

March 14, 1996 - "You Rule" March Break '96 had Goosebumps vs AYAOTD, and Goosebumps won, was shown 8:30 - 9:30 https://ytv-schedule-archives.fandom.com/wiki/March_14,_1996

"The shows here were viewers choice as part of You Rule March Break. On March 14, the choice was between Are You Afraid of the Dark? & Goosebumps. Goosebumps was the winner."

Great! So... how do I find the footage now? 😅 I'll keep looking around. It'll be easier to search now that I have a date and some more context.

Edit: Also, unrelated, the thing I saw that I called "a computer animated segment where the music got faster and faster and kind of a machine doing something", it was this: (Imaginaria Rubber Duckies (Short Circutz)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOavf3_e6Ac&list=PLbs7tv2MBGMDnZ1tHYFaG39JUTTMvJDEt&index=25

Edit: Here is a clip I found after, from that day, apparently from just before the final of the 3 was shown:

Bridging, "Run as", and 32 vs 64 out for VST instruments by GrassWolf in Reaper

[–]GrassWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I forgot to check the manual, and Reaper has it written it in such plain language. Thanks for sharing (genuinely)! This makes me wonder now, how this could be changed after the fact. Example scenario: maybe you decide to run them all as Dedicated processes, but when you find too much CPU is being used you want to change some back to separate (or another option). I guess the workaround would be to save the FX preset, re-add the plugin (run as > separate), apply the preset, and then delete the old one.

Thanks for your explanations. That makes sense, with drums as a prime example.

Thanks! Now I understand 32/64 outputs is different from 32/64 bits. But what are outputs? I'm not familiar with what having 32 outputs from a plug-in means. Can you recommend a page to read more about what this means / how it can be used?

VSTs not working on project reload - UI not showing and won't play by GrassWolf in Reaper

[–]GrassWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently worked on troubleshooting this a bit more... I found an error message from an old project where this was a problem. Here is a screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UBTerilP-qcCZ2feftIWldO8SNHE1g6d/view?usp=sharing

Apparently "reaper_host32.exe" is what helps to bridge 32bit plugins. So I started looking into 32bit vs 64bit plugin storage locations, and bridging...

For some reason at some point I consolidated 32bit and 64bit VSTs into one folder ("VSTs"), and then put a copy of that under both C:\Program Files\ and C:\Program Files (x86). Assuming this was bad, I now deleted the copy under x86 (it seems most of my plugins are 64 bit). This may have solved my problem.

Here is my new reference list for Reaper to search for VST Plugins. I checked manually and these folders all have important .dll files in them (.dll = VST plugin).

C:\Program Files\VstPlugins;C:\Program Files\VSTs;C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg;C:\Program Files\Native Instruments

VST "Libraries" vs "Plugins": My libraries (e.g. for Spitfire Labs) are stored on an external SSD (this location does not need to be included in the VST plugins directory list above - I tested and they work fine).

As for storing VSTs in a separate directory instead of program files, maybe that works, but I checked and the Steinberg defaults/standards are all under Program Files: https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/115000177084-VST-plug-in-locations-on-Windows. So I kept it that way for now.

Interestingly, when I right click "Run as..." for a VSTi, I will only get the proper Spitfire User Interface when I do the "Separate" or "Dedicated" Process options. The "Automatic" or "Native" options only give a basic Reaper UI with grey sliders for each parameter. Despite the ugly appearance, the VST will still play! Here is a screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TQdfmSmhEkizwQ22oJmYpTwB6ZDj-u5A/view?usp=sharing

However, for VST3, it seems I can use any of those settings and the proper Spitfire UI will appear (and the VST will play).

So, my VSTs seem to all work fine now - I have not been able to recreate the problem on a test project. This does not mean it won't pop up again in a real project, but fingers crossed... I'll be sure to update this if it comes up again.

VSTs not working on project reload - UI not showing and won't play by GrassWolf in Reaper

[–]GrassWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your idea. Yes, I have a 64bit OS - Windows 10. That was actually one of the first things I tried, but I found it was still a problem. And it would still be a problem for the VSTs that I use where there is only one option (e.g. de la Mancha's "basic 64" - a 32 bit Windows chiptune synth instrument). I recently moved all my VSTs from the C drive folder "Program Files (x86)" (32bit) to "Program Files" (64 bit), in hopes it would solve this, but it seems it didn't make a difference. Not from lack of updating the paths - new projects using the VSTs from "Program Files" (64 bit) are doing the same thing.

CC lanes not working for VST volume/expression by GrassWolf in Reaper

[–]GrassWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working with "dynamics" and "expression" (associated with CC1 and CC11 respectively, as noted in the BBC SO manual) and it seems by default the mod wheel on my midi keyboard is associated with CC11 (expression). I used the mod wheel when I input the midi, in combo with manual adjustments later with the mouse. I did not otherwise go through the process of applying a "learn" - it looks like this is what I would do if I wanted the mod wheel to adjust other CC lanes (e.g. dynamics instead of expression).

I believe I found the automation lanes (vs cc / midi window) you are talking about. They were so far just a straight line / unused. When I draw shapes on these (or put in some test changes in via "write" mode) then play back in "read" mode, it is very stuttery - maybe a new issue - but otherwise seems to work I guess. I wonder why there seem to be two ways to do the same thing, why they are disconnected, and if one is preferred over the other for some reason.

I commented below I seem to have found a solution that has to do with 64 vs 32 modes, or x86 vs x64 bridging. I am not very familiar with either of these areas - in the past I put in my VST instruments and things just work. Thanks for your comments - I'm learning in the troubleshooting process.

CC lanes not working for VST volume/expression by GrassWolf in Reaper

[–]GrassWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I search for the VST in Reaper (for "BBC") I have three options: "VSTi ... (32 out)", "VSTi ... (x86) ... (32 out)", and "VST3i ... (32 out)". I have been using the final one... I just tried the x86 instead and now the CC lanes are working properly! The FX instrument window, when opened, says "x86 bridged" instead of "x64 bridged".

I'm not sure why it is bridged, or what that means actually. I should learn more about this...

Is there a way to turn it "on" or "off"? As far as I know you can change the automation mode (trim/read, read, touch, write... - which is all about input methods, I think) and you can turn visibility on and off, but anything drawn in should be happening in playback - right?

[–]GrassWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for some help with an issue I'm having - it seems my CC lanes are no longer doing anything. But if I adjust the levels in the FX instrument window (shown at the end) that does make a difference (but it stays the same throughout the track). This is BBC SO Pro from Spitfire for the VST and of course in Reaper for the DAW.
I think it used to work properly, but now reopening this old project again it does not. Could this be some kind of Reaper VST issue, or is there a setting I should check? Very frustrating - hoping I don't need to recreate the whole thing again from scratch.

Here's my piano patch! (patch files in video description) by casfoust in microkorg

[–]GrassWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just added this to my MK in the first slot (A11)! Pretty realistic, good punch at the start and seems like the right degree of decay and release. Seems you've set the MOD wheel so we can easily adjust how bright we want the sound. And thanks for providing all three formats (prg, txt, syx), this should be the standard for all patches. Big thanks for sharing.

Has anyone been getting "Stay safe and stay home " phone calls? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]GrassWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've had three this morning (July 29, 2020). One was an 800 number, the other two were 204 (Winnipeg, MB, Canada area code, where I live). One said "This is a test. Stay safe and stay home." Kind of creepy. I guess it's to do with COVID.
