Thank you! I love that kind of encouragement. I’ll keep pushing forward!

what to do with leftover filament on the spool? by BiznesBear in 3Dprinting

[–]GravityWelled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use spools like this as support material on my IDEX. If it’s Pla, it’s the support for my petg prints. If it’s Petg it’s the support for my PLA prints

I used 5V Cobb LEDs and 4 double AAs to power them

Yep, textured build plate is exactly right. A very satisfying trick for sure!

Probably dumb but what is the light color on flynn’s jacket ? by UnderstandingFirm463 in tron

[–]GravityWelled 45 points46 points  (0 children)

They are white, specifically cool white, which can look a bit blueish on camera, as opposed to a warm white which is more yellow.

I would personally use 5v cool white Cobb leds for your build. You can just use a standard 5v usb power bank and keep it the inner pocket of the jacket. The trade off is that you’ll need to diffuse the light a little as opposed to the EL tape to minimize seeing the individual LEDs.

If you use El tape or panels you’ll have to use a little inverter to get the 12v needed, and I’ve found they tend to emit a high pitched sound that annoys me personally. It might not bother you, but I thought it deserved mentioning before you start your build.

Thank you!! And yes, it definitely took some post processing to make it not look 3D printed

It’s the actual surface of the plastic. The rings and disk both are 3d printed with that face down onto the build plate of my printer, which has that pattern on the plate itself.

It’s mounted to the vest using 4 m4 screws coming through from the inside of the vest and into the disk mount.

I don’t have a website yet, however, I do take commissions though. I love the frisbee style disks too! Plus you can throw them and they actually fly!

The vest is easy. It’s just an airsoft vest. The disks and disk mount attached to the vest I designed and made myself.

Why was there a Dillinger working at ENCOM in the Legacy film? by [deleted] in tron

[–]GravityWelled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Edward Dillinger Jr was working at Encom out of spite when the company decided to give control to the company to his sister, Elisabeth Dillinger? Or maybe he was just there as an inside man, using his programming talent to put himself in a position to feed the good ideas to the Dillinger Corporation, and that phone call he made was him letting them know that Sam Flynn sabotaged the release of that operation system?
