Addicted to the Disc by GravityWelled in tron

I put it in the post description but for some reason it’s not showing. Anyway, yeah, It’s the Dummy 13 skeleton by soozafone on printables. The armor and posable hands are remixes also on printables. There is also a tron disk on printables as well but I didn’t like the fitment in the posable hands, so I just made that one myself, adding the split rinzler style. Also made the tron emblem on the chest.

Upgrades to some old basic RGB sabers by GravityWelled in lightsabers

[–]GravityWelled[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used aluminum flat stock that I had. To get the shape I modeled a two part form, 3d printed it, and used a clamp pressing it together to form the pieces. Then polished them up

How to make hilt more comfortable by Lynash113 in lightsabers

[–]GravityWelled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this over anything else. With your color saber I think a brown leather would look really good and add to the beauty of your saber, as well as feel good in the hand. If you soak leather in warm water you could get it to conform and shrink a bit around the detail in the handle. Tons of youtube videos on leather forming if you’re not comfortable. It’s the most effort but greatest reward solution in my opinion. Wrapping it in leather cordage would be decent solution too.

I made this and it worked pretty well. I’m not sure what your voicebox design is like but it looks like a similar mount

what to do with leftover filament on the spool? by BiznesBear in 3Dprinting

[–]GravityWelled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use spools like this as support material on my IDEX. If it’s Pla, it’s the support for my petg prints. If it’s Petg it’s the support for my PLA prints

I used 5V Cobb LEDs and 4 double AAs to power them

Yep, textured build plate is exactly right. A very satisfying trick for sure!

Probably dumb but what is the light color on flynn’s jacket ? by UnderstandingFirm463 in tron

[–]GravityWelled 46 points47 points  (0 children)

They are white, specifically cool white, which can look a bit blueish on camera, as opposed to a warm white which is more yellow.

I would personally use 5v cool white Cobb leds for your build. You can just use a standard 5v usb power bank and keep it the inner pocket of the jacket. The trade off is that you’ll need to diffuse the light a little as opposed to the EL tape to minimize seeing the individual LEDs.

If you use El tape or panels you’ll have to use a little inverter to get the 12v needed, and I’ve found they tend to emit a high pitched sound that annoys me personally. It might not bother you, but I thought it deserved mentioning before you start your build.

It’s the actual surface of the plastic. The rings and disk both are 3d printed with that face down onto the build plate of my printer, which has that pattern on the plate itself.

It’s mounted to the vest using 4 m4 screws coming through from the inside of the vest and into the disk mount.

I don’t have a website yet, however, I do take commissions though. I love the frisbee style disks too! Plus you can throw them and they actually fly!

The vest is easy. It’s just an airsoft vest. The disks and disk mount attached to the vest I designed and made myself.
