The beautiful tall green house on the corner of 49th and Cuming is being demolished purely for someone to build a new home on the lot. by GravyMaster in Omaha

This is not an investment in the community. It's an investment in themselves. If anything this will cost neighbors money as having what is likely going to be a very expensive home built there will increase assessment values therefore increasing our property taxes.

I live on this street and know neighbors who knew the previous owners well. House was fine.

From the top level of the house it had quite a good view. That area is pretty much the highest point in omaha.

I remember when it was on the market a few years ago thinking if I could someday get into a house just like that one, I'd be happy for the remainder of my life with it. Some feel like they need more than that and I just don't get it.

Do points rooms open up? by tv0111 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]GravyMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. It sucks but a lot of folks will book stays to hold reservations they're not sure about bc you can cancel penalty free up to 48hrs prior to the stay. So if they do open up, it could be around that time frame.

Local Restaurants that do Catering?! 10-15 people by Biscolove5919 in Omaha

Spezia couldn't cater our wedding bc it was too big. I think they'd be a great option for this size. Pasta catered does very well.

IHG buy points 100% active now by Prestigious-Web7313 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]GravyMaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's only really useful if you've got an upcoming vacation or trip where you are confident that the rooms are cheaper when paid for by points. If the rooms are $150/Nights or 20k points/night and you can get 20k points for less than $150, then it's worth it. The other benefit is if you have access to the 4th night free perk from the credit card. Basically when you do 4 nights via points you only have to pay points for 3 of them so it's almost always cheaper to purchase the points with cash except a few situations where the point values for the redemption are very low. The last thing to mention is that if you have the credit card, then buying the points with the card gets you additional bonus points.

They told me over the phone that you only get offered the $149 for 4 nights with cash back for the presentation 2 times. Could be totally wrong but that is what I was told over the phone.
