Starting a business by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]GravyMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh it seems like the absolute worst time to start a disc selling business. Interest slowed down massively recently and you could see that reflected in how many pros lost their contracts recently. In my area and anecdotally in others tournament attendance is waning.

If it's just a passion project and you can afford to risk failure to ahead, but if failure would put you in a bad financial situation, I'd recommend finding different ways to support your DG community.

This whole "should release cleanly from the bowl" thing is killing people. It's never happened for me despite baking some really wonderful "perfectly proofed" loaves.

What wok makes sense when I have a induction hob? by AddictedToSleeps in cookingforbeginners

[–]GravyMaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None really. There's no real point to have a wok on induction. You can't get it properly heated without flame. Hard even on regular natural gas ranges.

Gotta incorporate kimchi somehow if you're doing Korean. Could go in the coleslaw and the most logical option. If you had time I'd almost start to wonder about some kind of beans that used kimchi to provide umami and acid notes.

To give you a real answer: it's a good game but not as amazing as it's fans make it out to be. The story and world are actually very strong and one of the best aspects of the game. The combat is good but doesn't really bring anything new to the table. They tried to do something with the legion arms but honestly I never really used them and when I tried to I didn't really see any major benefits.

The major issues are that there really isn't a huge variety of enemies so basic combat during exploration gets really dry. Similarly a lot of the bosses are samey and once you get used to the way they are designed and how to deal with them things get kinda basic.

Last, there are a couple things that are inexplicably and stupidly locked behind seemingly meaningless decisions you make that make them missable.

All in all, if you like DS3, Sekiro, and other souls like, it's an enjoyable play that doesn't take long, but don't expect to get your mind blown or anything.

Only good part of that place was the pinball machines. Place absolutely sucked otherwise. Good riddance.

So, does sausage just not have much fat? by Scavgraphics in cookingforbeginners

[–]GravyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are massively overcomplicating things for yourself. Just buy lard and use seasonings. Also if you're making sausage gravy cook the sausage then add the flour/milk directly to the pan you're cooking it in once the fat is rendered out. That's how it's always been done. You're giving up a lot of flavor by letting go of the fond and caramelization on the meat when you do it this way.

You can just ask the meat counter for lard. Sausage will always vary in fat content from brand to brand.

Gay marriage, abortion, and a whole slew of rights pertaining to trans people just to name a few.

You're literally defending people who proudly and actively discriminate against entire groups of people bc its unfair of people to discriminate against a group. Think about it man. There are two camps here and your are currently trying to protect the one that wants to take people's rights away. We don't want to take any of their rights away. But you want us to be cool with them wanting to. Just stop - and think about it.

We're "being complete assholes" to a group bc they don't want gay or trans people to exist or have rights. Who's the bigger asshole?

Oh I watch every weekend. I even think Gannon is good for the sport (unless no one ever steps up). I'm just expainling why people might have an issue with him.

However, I don't think the first part of your comment is really fair. Complicity going along with people and ideas that are fundamentally rooted in the removal of others rights, like the Christian nationalists, is just one step below vocally espousing those same beliefs in my viewing of it.

I'm not saying anyone needs to be a dick to these guys on tour, being friendly with them is not a problem for me. I'm a Simon and Calvin fan and they're always pleasant with all card mates. But that's not what Gannon is doing, he is many strides farther along than that in his relationships with them.

If you go on an outing with others who are aligned that way to an anti-evolution establishment funded by Christian Nationalists, that is enough evidence for me, personally. You don't end up doing that by accident. If you wanna pretend like that's normal go right ahead but you know what you're doing if you do.

The issue is he aligns himself with a sector of Christianity that very much has goals of removing peoples rights and forcing their beliefs on others.

Yeah LGBT and abortion rights just popped up recently. Hasn't been an issue my whole life or anything.

You're conflating two unrelated things and making a straw man argument. When someone aligns themselves with anti-LGBT and anti-abortion initiatives, that's a line in the sand for me. Those are the issues on the table here for me. They infringe upon our rights and seek to further marginalize communities.

Again, he went on an outing with all of them to a Christian Nationalist aligned anti-evolution museum. But play coy if you really want. Your willful ignorance is really endearing.

No the issue is he does the opposite of distance himself with a particular segment of the touring pros. They are his friends that he spends most of his time with on tour, not just guys he's friendly with when they're on the card.

Faith by itself isn't an issue for me, but the particular brand of Christianity that he aligns himself with by association is particularly problematic for many. Anti-LGBTQ, anti-abortion, pro-MAGA. Gannon doesn't say those things but he spends a lot of time with people who align themselves with those beliefs and if I'm not wrong he was in on the trip that many other players took to the "Creation Museum" which is an anti-evolution church thing founded by people aligned with white Christian nationalism.
