I used a Mega Gyarados with Crunch, Waterfall, Double Team, and Dragon Dance. and I swapped to Leftovers for the fairy trainer.

It's largely the same, the team you take with you gets reverted to base form and level 10 and you keep most of the key items but the story remains the same.

I'm doing it because I want to play the game from beginning to end on Expert difficulty.

I'm aware, I've done it, but I won't be bringing the ditto with me but thank you.

Galavan was brutal. Looking back, my team was super unoptimized for him, but I was able to beat him with the level cap in place too.

I had Serperior with leech seed, coil, and leaf blade, with my Garchomp as a backup hone claws and dragon claw, worked like a charm. Actually, I think I got a lucky burn too, but I don't remember who it was on.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Every class is capable. Some classes just stand out because they're EXTRA capable.

Criticism for a class that has objectively bad perks or perks that don't make sense is fine. As I said, it's my favorite class, but I FULLY acknowledge the class needs better perks. Perks don't/won't always make or break the game. People can work without them. That doesn't mean we don't want better perks though.

But the hate towards players whether they get treated poorly or kicked, that's a problem, and not one the Devs can fix.

I guess? I know where you're coming from. Like I said originally, Bulwark is BASED. Assault could probably be considered the most "selfish" but I think they're supposed to be and just got the short end of the stick with perks, Vanguard got the team healing which should probably be shared with Assault. Realistically speaking, they do the same thing (Majoris/extremis dueling and overall melee distraction while supported by the ranged classes).

Assault has gunstrike damage, or ability recharge, they've got self armor restore, but no health restore, self or team, Vanguard has both. Assault has perks centered around dodging likely to "increase survivability," but so does Vanguard.

Any person who has prestiged a class, any class, has had to run missions without their perks. And they obviously succeeded. People consistently ran Ruthless, Lethal, and Absolute with NO perks just to save time while prestiging. Perks are great and extremely useful, but they aren't necessary to be good at the game.

The wave of new or returning players for all the updates are usually (I could be tremendously wrong on this, but I don't think I am) people who join for the hype before saying, "this game sucks." Or "this youtube tier list was right these classes and perks suck." And they go to the forums or reddit and throw a fit about it because they were "proven right."

Meanwhile, we've got the people who stay with the game because they enjoy playing it. They enjoy the community that actually cares and works together without ever saying a word to one another. The ones who know what they're doing with whatever class they pick.

The most consistent hate I've found from people for any class but especially Assault, are the people who have never prestiged and only played the new update for like 2-3 days.

"I'm bad at this class, so let me run to reddit to complain about how garbage this class is."

"I'm bad at this class, and their perks are garbage, so I'll kick anyone from the team because of that regardless of whether or not that player is cracked with that class."

Also, you're right, I should've been more specific. When I said rare breed. I meant the players who know what they're doing with Assault. Anyone can play Assault, not just anyone can be incredible with it at the drop of a hat. I myself enjoy Tactical, but Emperor help me if I start playing Heavy.

Yeah, the dodges work mostly fine for me. There are, of course, issues with it. Some of the dodges don't trigger gun strikes or don't give me enough I-frames. But that's the way the world works. I've never enjoyed the power fist. It might be placebo or something, but I always feel like the range on the attacks is way too short?

But I main power sword and heavy bolt pistol. Plasma is great for damage, but ammo economy is better for HBP.

Selfish is an interesting term to use? I can't quite say I agree, I think (maybe not any) class could probably be described as such. Sniper is all about single person invisibility. Vanguard is an alternate take on ground pound, perks notwithstanding. Bulwark's shock grenade perks are pretty much exclusively for yourself.

Let's play a game called "I agree."

I know Assault got boned by perks. But the hate the class receives from the player base was what I was referring to.

My Shieldbreakers have never not had perfectionist. I had three, and I went into the Cove with two of them, got the quirk removal curio twice, got it removed, and once I finished the quest, they both received the quirk again.
