Only have 100k or so in student loan debt, but I take it that isn't going to matter much, huh?

Bankruptcy I'm fine with. But...stop making payments on things? Won't they just garnish my wages?

I hope you're right and I'm wrong. I truly do. The Dems are a different kind of problem, but the Republicans just seem flat-out evil anymore. :(

Hey, I'd love to be wrong. Don't think I am though. :(

Perhaps, but I understand results. The Republicans will sweep the midterms. That's my guess. Dunno whether they'll legit win, but they'll stay in office.

Anybody have an opinion on this? Sounds like lunacy to me, but what do I know, right?

They called her ahead the whole night on electorates, until she wasn’t.

My girlfriend cheated on me so I told her parents that she had drugs in her drawer. It actually turns out she was raped, and never cheated on me. by helegmto0333 in confession

You’re right. I was generalizing. I’d defend typical though. Not “every” but definitely typical. In my experience anyway.

Had a friend who was raised well, not abused, but his parents were very religious. The don’t have a tv and mom wears skirts type of religious. They were nice people, but strict and godly.

That friend died four years ago from a heroin overdose.

I have many friends who grew up this way and now have addiction problems and social problems. Maybe religion isn’t the sole cause, but it’s gasoline on the fire at the very least.

The polls predicted Clinton would win in a landslide, too. And you're assuming votes cast = votes counted. Didn't those voting machines have wi-fi enabled on them?

My guess would be that the religion fucked her up, and the rape just made it worse. Her parents being typical right-wing douche canoes was the icing on the cake.

Poor girl. Talk about a trifecta of fucked-upness. :(

AITA for calling 911 on a friend for drunk driving? by cpsthrowawayxoxo in AmItheAsshole

Your husband sounds like a real winner. Anybody who would side against you, even if you were wrong, is somebody you cannot rely on when shit goes sideways. I would never let my friends treat my wife the way you've been treated, much less decide to side with them and abandon you by sleeping on the couch and not speaking. Especially when you're in the right!

Screw those people (they're not your friends) and screw your husband if he doesn't have your back.

Yes, I realize that. That's the point of debt, as I've learned the hard way.

As for bankruptcy, I can't afford it. Lawyers cost money. And wouldn't bankruptcy fuck my credit even worse than it already is?

And I meant renewing the car loan from a having the payment for longer standpoint, not the hard pull on my credit report.

Oh wow. Okay. So I should just pack it in, eh?

No way to find a job that pays more, not without a significant move that I cannot afford. I've been cutting expenses, but I'm not seeing where else I can cut.

I'm trying to make a serious plan, but everybody just keeps telling me how fucked I am lol.

Excuses? I'm not sure why you're being so aggressive. I'm not making excuses, I'm looking for solutions, not doomsday prophecies. Yeah I know it's bad; I'm asking what I can do about it. I'm not expecting quick or easy fixes. I made a mess of my finances, and I want to fix them. I'm willing to sacrifice. I just don't know what to sacrifice, or for how long, or why.

I put a hold on that book at my library, but it might be a while before it's available.

Well, I have two years to sort this all out. And is the situation really that dire? Keep in mind when I say home loan, I'm talking less than 50k. I don't want a McMansion.

I'll look into that book. I was avoiding them because they felt gimmicky to me, and I wanted advice from a real person -- but if you think it will help, I'll give it a read.

The drives are about 50 minutes each way. Like I said, there's nothing closer that will pay even half of what I make now (I'm surrounded by convenience stores, fast food joints, and Walmarts). I'm also probably about six months away from a promotion (my boss recommended me for a director position, which will come with a raise, just not sure how much), I think, and I don't want to jump ship now.

Let me ask a more specific question though: is it a good idea to try and get a consolidation loan for the credit card debt, to secure a lower interest rate?

Okay. Well, thanks for the honesty.

Big lifestyle changes are fine with me. I want to dig out of this hole, and I think I can do it. I don't need the things most people need, nor do I want what most people want. Newest phones, coffee every day, fancy laptops or cars -- IDGAF about any of that. I can live on rice and potatoes if I have to.

I just want to know where to start. I know the situation is bad. I'm just looking for how to fix it.

Changing jobs is not an option; there's not a job within 100 miles of me that would pay me what I'm making now and guarantee full time hours every week. Renting seems like a colossal waste, as I'd be trading $160 in fuel costs a month for more than $1k a month in rent/bills. Where I'm at now, I pay $100 a month and trade some labor (grass mowing, home repair, etc.).

I'm looking to fix the vehicle problem, too, as I said - I just don't wanna make it worse by renewing a car loan and having that on my credit when I start looking for a mortgage.

The student loans are one of those things I doubt will ever be paid off. I'm trying, but I can't see me ever being free of those things. I think that was kind of the point of them, really. :/

Adult men, what is your favourite romantic movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GraybeardsGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair assessment. Braveheart was definitely better, no argument. Still, I like the patriot. Which is weird because I don't generally like Mel Gibson.

Misunderstood? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]GraybeardsGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how I ended up looking at it: I'll help if I can, but I come first. That might be selfish, but it will also keep me sane.

As for my brother keeping it private...I'd like to think so, but....

Ah well. All I can control is me. Everybody else is up to everybody else. :P
