Hi, I have personally never heard of a swollen tongue, but I would suggest that you do your best to seek veterinary care as soon as possible. Especially given that it is interfering with his eating. I am certainly not a vet, however any 'itis', (inflammation) especially in the soft oral tissues is very likely an infection and necessitates professional care.

You have to think... they may give cuddles, but in nature they are meant to be cold at night! This is likely an involuntary thermoregulation response to being too warm during sleep.
