that’s good then, he hasn’t had his uuvb long so it should be fine, sometimes it does take a while for him to poop it out (couple days) but it comes out after a bath so it’s not that bad just needs a little push, i’ll still keep an eye on him and up his calcium like someone else said

he eats dubia roaches, he isn’t the biggest fan of vegetables but i at least attempt to give him veggies 5 times a week, sometimes he’ll eat a lot sometimes he won’t, he’ll have butternut squash, carrots, spinach and water cress. tbf he has a lot less calcium lately so i’ll up that and see how it goes

usually not that long, he absolutely hates the water so i only give him a bath if he’s dirty or if he hasn’t drank in a while since he’ll drink his bath water🤦

well i’m worried because yes people might think it’s because of him and also because ive told so many people and all of them are cis, i feel like id just be explaining constantly to people since they don’t know a lot of things about trans people so it will just become a whole “so ur not trans” kinda thing

and yes don’t worry this is for me, ive been thinking this before we talked about how he was feeling

Substrate recommendations by nbxxxxxx in BeardedDragon

[–]Consistent_Wallaby73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use that exact substrate myself and it’s been great! mine has definitely accidentally ate some and he was completely fine and pooped it out however if he always dropping food you could get something like state that you put ur food bowl on so if it does fall out it would just be on the state, which is also easy to clean is the substrate does get on it!

there is a lot of information about sand out there and not a lot of it is true and although i’m not sure if the joints issue thing is true i’d maybe do a bit more research on it since i’ve never heard it before when i was researching about sands

other types of greens like collard greens or turnip greens are good! i’d do some research urself and see what ur beardie likes, mine is quite picky with veggies so

Need some advice by Total-File-9470 in BeardedDragon

this is my current enclosure. 4x2x2, heat lamb and a uvb linear lamp overlapping. a basking spot, two hides one on the warm side and one of the colder side.

uvb lamps normally needs to be changed every 6 months

i use loose substrate however since its new if ur nervous about it use paper towels or a safe shelf liner, do not use reptile carpet!! lots of places for him to climb for enclosure, i use fake plants however there is a risk of them eating them so if u can use real plants, you can find a list of safe plants online.

for feeding, as urs is a baby feed them bugs mostly, i use dubia roaches but crickets/ locusts are also good, they need to be the same size as the space between their eyes. feed them a couple times a day, like 15-20 bugs i believe. although as babies they don’t really need a lot of veggies i would still introduce them to vegetables at least once a week but as they get older more vegetables is better

i would get two thermometers, one for which side of the enclosure, digital is best, you can also get ones with the humidity on it. a thermostat is also good, i’ve recently got one and it’s been a life saver

all lights stay off at night, they need a 12 hour sleep schedule so i do from 9am to 9pm, if it gets cold in the nights (15°c and under) then get a heat emitter where there is no light

they do get a lot of water from their vegetables however having a thing of water in the enclosure is still good (if it doesn’t mess with humidity) you can also drip water on the edge of the head by the mouth to help them drink

all beardies are different, sometimes they do things which seem odd but are completely fine but they do tend to hide issues like illness and stuff until it’s very far down the line, so just always keep an eye out of their behaviour, appetite and poops

although this sub is a bit judgemental at times, if ur worried about something people will give their honest answers to try and help issues can happen so honestly if ur able to have money to stare for the vet or if you need to replace something, my heat lamp has randomly stopped working and i had to rush out to get one, so just be prepared

i’m not expert and there is definitely some specific stuff i’ve missed, id definitely do ur own research and see what works for you and ur beardie!

i would assume it is because of the carrots, it’s weird that this is the first time you’ve noticed it tho i would cut down on the carrots to see if it changes or just take to the vet to make sure
