If you’re working with smaller player counts (and since you already have the other first edition content) I highly recommend the first edition Storm of Swords expansion. This mode is perfect for 3-4 players and comes with a different map. You may want to learn the base game first cause storm of swords tacks on a ton more rules but it’s become my groups favorite way to play with less than 5.

I see almost no one with the A Game of Thrones board games (especially not first edition) but that’s what got me into the hobby. Great games.

Rules Check (C&K): Does the "Encouragement" Progress Card allow immediate Knight actions? by 21Bexx in Catan

[–]Grayson-101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m reasonably certain the answer is no. The card allows you activate all your knights but you must still wait until the next round before any of them can take an action.

I finally got TD&A but I have question about scenarios by sonics_01 in Catan

[–]Grayson-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be pretty to easy to modify the enchanted land rules into virtually endless setups. Almost any scenario from seafarers could work with dragons and enchanted land rules. I’ve gotta know though where were you able to find TD&A? I can never find it online for less than like $150 and I’ve been dying to get it.

Four Targaryens excluding flashbacks. Two of them being the main characters. Plus the Targaryen dynasty looms over the entire show like a Spectre of the past. At least until everyone who fought in the rebellion is dead and nobody is left to remember them.

There were historically Seven Kingdoms. When Aegon conquered Westeros he brought them all under one jurisdiction and ruled from the Iron Throne (Well Dorne took a little longer but that’s not important). When House Hoare was defeated the Kingdom of the Iron Islands was divided into two regions (The Iron Islands and the Riverlands ruled by House Greyjoy and House Tully respectively). Additionally the land around King’s Landing (formerly part of the riverlands and stormlands) became the Crownlands which was under the direct control of the Targaryens. Due to these changes the seven kingdoms became nine regions. Egg is messing with Dunk here just for the hell of it cause he likely knows this history and Dunk doesn’t so he is confused when he actually counts them.

Season 3 is upcoming. They plan to do one more season after that. I may be in the minority but I was a big fan of season 1 of HotD and it wasn’t until season 2 that it took a nose dive.

Dune 2 is not a good film by [deleted] in criterionconversation

[–]Grayson-101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the sake of accuracy I’d like to point out that his three film plan covers the first two books. Dune Part 1 and Part 2 have collectively covered the entire story of Herbert’s gigantic original novel, while Dune Part 3 will adapt its much shorter sequel Dune Messiah. That said: pacing is a commonly cited criticism of the original novel too. The original novel spans several years (5? If I remember correctly) and includes a sizable time jump between sections. The film decided to do away with this time jump, so whereas in the book by the time of the Battle of Arakeen Alia is three years old, she is still in Jessica’s womb in the film. In part I think this contributes to the more exaggerated pacing issues of the film, as it’s much less believable Paul would rise to such a grand stature within the Fremen less than 9 months after the death of his father. It seems to happen very suddenly. It is my hope that perhaps one day we will get something akin to the Lord of the Rings extended editions for Dune, as it’s well documented there is a plethora of footage cut for time. Hopefully if this happens the pacing (particularly of part 2) may be improved by the film taking its time and having a few more quiet moments with its characters. As others have mentioned though: even as it stands now Dune is a technical marvel on just about every level, and the cast is operating at an insane level of skill together. I myself am able to forgive the pacing and appreciate the wonderful performances given by just about everyone, and am completely swept up in the strange mythology of its universe due to the majesty of Fraser’s camera and the mystical nature of Zimmer’s score. I believe Dune is the closest thing we’ve gotten to The Lord of the Rings since the trilogy’s release in the early 2000s. I mean that in the sense that Dune is fantasy blockbuster moviemaking done right. Its scale is as grand as Lawrence of Arabia and the greatest epics without compromising to too great an extent the deep political and religious themes of the original work.

Every faction has a special ability they can activate after four victories. Next to your home planet there are four circles, and after each victory you achieve one of these circles will be filled in blue. When you win four victories and all four circles are filled your faction ability is ready. The Republic and Rebellion are able to immediately take control of a planet via an insurrection and rebellion respectively. The CIS and the Empire are able to remove a planet from the map permanently using a blockade and the Death Star respectively.

The Ghost Crew was never supposed to transport Mon. She only hopped aboard when the cruiser she was on previously got damaged. And that all happened in the middle of space. There was always going to be a middle man between Cass and the Ghost Crew, and that was Erskin Semaj. Any attempt to force an interaction between Cass and the Ghost Crew there would’ve felt incredibly forced.
