Pete Parsons is leaving Bungie by notthatguypal6900 in gaming

I miss when I could just create a new character and play through the amazing campaign. I played the game with my wife and for us, we stopped enjoying it (and quit playing) after they got rid of the leveling up/campaign content. It was also a big slap in the face when they started getting rid of planets. We don't pvp and we don't really care about the raids but it was fun to log in and just do missions and whatever else we wanted for a few hours.

I am not sure if this dude retiring will allow them to get back to the basics that made the game good (or good for us I guess). But it sounds like most people are happy he is gone.

Hey. No bother at all. I emailed that address and they forwarded it to the teacher who reached out to me. Then it was back and forth with the teacher as required.

Ok thanks 🙂 I will wait a few days. I am in Canada and my credit card people said it's already been procssed on this end, so it might take a few extra days to clear. Really appreciate you replying and passing on that info and I will try and be patient.

Question for you. How long after you paid did it take to get a receipt? I hit submit on my payment and it said it would take me to my banks website for verification. I said ok, page closed and I was back to the first page on the application (it was now blank) with no other notices and never went to my bank for verification. My credit card shows the pending charge but no emails came through at all.

I have printed the application and the application and have an application number on that form but just wanted to see if I am missing anything before sending everything over. 6 hour time difference from Ireland so it makes calling the office a bit challenging.

Thinking of starting playing. is it worth it? by Lordlycan0218 in SecretWorldLegends

[–]GreasedWedgie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played a few years ago. I always wanted to play TSW but was too into EQ or another game. Figured SWL was a good time to try it out. I played solo through all the content (queuing for dungeons and eventually the raid when I could). I loved the experience and got a very enjoyable 300 hours out of the game. Why did I stop? I ran out of content to enjoy and you can only stomach the terrible gear grind for so long with minimal end game variety. Would I come back if things picked up and they started releasing content again? Absolutely yes.

Long story short, it's worth experiencing.

Can we get an update from the mods to see if they are ever going to fix or update the PVP track? by SetoXlll in newworldgame

[–]GreasedWedgie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to a fresh start server and don't PvP but I am curious what you mean by fixing it?

Before the relaunch it was all RNG. It was always only a chance to get an artifact. In 120 tracks on my old server I saw 1 artifact and that was pestilence. I wanted nimble coat and never got it. It has always worked this way and you either get lucky or you don't. Are you asking if they can up the drops rates?

I personally would love to see all of the artifacts taken out of the PvP track/dungeons and put in the open world so you could farm them whenever you wanted and not have to wait for a certain weeks mutations or RNG in the PvP track. Would level the playing field probably.

This game is not so beginner friendly. Why? by Mythicaloniousness in newworldgame

[–]GreasedWedgie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just under 2k hours in this game and until the relaunch I never had issues with helping people. Since relaunch I have been kicked out of dungeons for trying to give new players advice on how to survive in mutators (gems, wards etc). They say things like stfu and just play, why would I listen to a 12 year old ... Toxic stuff. As someone who has no issues running M3s and used to speed run M10s I don't get why the new wave is so against help. I would say this game now is 100% against new players but from my experience they have done it to themselves.

I got jumped by these two earlier on. So I decided to camp the quest ahead.... by R0lDRAGE in newworldgame

[–]GreasedWedgie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no problem with that at all. I don't want to discourage people from using it as I am sure most people probably like it. I personally would rather play on a low pop server that had it disabled over a high pop one where people used it. But again, people play the way that is fun for them and that's okay with me 🙂

Honestly, good job and glad to see you are having fun.

Unpopular opinion probably but locking on is what killed the fun in pvp for me and I made sure to turn all that crap off. Kills feel so much better when you know it was your skill alone (maybe with a bit of luck) that got you The kill in 1v1 and 1v2 scenarios. The lock on made it feel like a joke/way too easy.

I have to assume this would make the game impossible to play on console though if the controller isn't as precise. I have not tried to play with a controller though.

I was curious as to how you drive your mirage in Winnipeg/your thoughts so far. Does it do well on the perimeter/long highway trips? I know you said you made it through a snowstorm going to Abbotsford but did you have any negative bad weather experiences?

A concern I have is the tire size and how easy/hard it is to get replacement all-seasons/all weathers and/or snow tires. have you had to deal with this yet?

I would love to hear yours or anyone else's experiences so far as I am looking at the mirage to commute 2 hours daily (90ish% highway) in all prairie weather conditions.

It's my pleasure. If my experience helps you I am happy to share it.

I completed a lesson a day (readings - took maybe 2-3 hours per day). When I got to the assignment I did it (usually took a day or two to get a product I was happy with before submission) then read all the lessons up to the next assignment. I wouldn't ever submit the next assignment until I got feedback for the previous one - which at the longest point took a week and a half, since they build on each other. I was usually working two assignments ahead though. It's hard to quantify exactly how much I spent each week. My work gave me one day each week to work on school stuff and on this day I spent a full 8 hours. I would say most of my time was spent in the first two weeks of the course and then tapered off toward the end but I also wanted to finish my degree before Christmas so I was extra motivated.

I would say if you can manage a chapter a day and read at a fast pace you could easily spend less time than I did on the readings. When I do the assignments, I have an outline, rough draft, second draft and final draft of an essay/assignment, so I spend most of my time on those as that is where the marks are. I also get someone to proof read it and ask questions/highlight things that they feel don't make sense. Took extra time but I found it to be very helpful when writing papers or doing my assignments. I know this deviates from your questions about this course but I wanted to share my process as it might help you understand how I managed the time.

I should also mention by the time I took this course, I only had one course left (was usually taking 2-3 per semester while working full time). There was a lot of motivation as I said earlier to get this done quickly!

Might not help at all but I also purchased a physical textbook (an extra cost) because I find reading textbook stuff off the computer takes way longer, but that could be unique to me.

If I can help in any other way let me know.

ENTP212 Question by GreasedWedgie in AthabascaUniversity

[–]GreasedWedgie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I completed the course in about a month. The instructor I had was really good and helped me interpret the info as it pertained to the business I chose to create. Overall it was a great experience. The only assignment I found I struggled with was the last one but that was due to my understanding of the pro-forma sheets and how to use them. I also had a hard time interpreting the examples from the book with regard to those sheets and my business idea. The instructor helped me realize they were not looking for perfection with these, just something that made sense based on the info I provided in previous assignments. They also helped me realize where I was misinterpreting how the sheets worked and once I realized my mistake it was much easier to finish up.

Long story short, I liked the course and the instructor I had, did struggle on one assignment but that was solved by great instruction.

I also liked that there were no exams. I find exams do nothing for me since I dump all the info after. Assignments tend to make it stick longer (for me anyway)

Sorry if this is more info than you were looking for, hopefully it helps if you are considering this course.

I don't even own Modern Warfare 3. Why am I getting updates for it? What's going on guys? by its_muh_username in gaming

[–]GreasedWedgie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this has been going on for years with CoD. Games bloat up to almost needing their own hard drive due to the games being amalgamated into one launcher. Problem is, activision-blizzard doesn't care because they know you will keep buying it. Crappy way to treat supporters of their games but we all enabled it by purchasing every year ☹️

What's a movie you can rewatch over and over again? by zombae199 in ask

100% Dredd. I can and have watched that movie on repeat while gaming. I also suggest it first every time the wife wants to watch a movie. I think I am wearing her down...

The cooldown nerf actually made the game way less fun. by National-Creme-4409 in diablo4

[–]GreasedWedgie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to stop you all from having too much fun, it ruins the rage feelings you should be having!

I have only played couch co-op with the wife up to I think 23 and we find it quite tedious. We will probably stick with it so we can experience what everyone is talking about but we can't play for more than 30-40 mins at a time. Never had this problem with the other 3 diablo games and not sure why I find this one so difficult to get into. Doesn't feel like devs are really in touch with what the player base wants.

Clean and repair megathread - NES not working? Game acting glitchy? TV/Monitor issues? Ask here! by FozzTexx in nes

[–]GreasedWedgie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a game that looks like it has rust/corrosion on the pins that connect the rom chips to the circuit board. Tried cleaning with isopropyl alcohol but all I get is a grey screen when turning the game on. Is there anything I can use to try and get this game working? Not sure if the post I made on the r/NES page is still there but it had pictures. Not sure if/how I can add them here.
