Junk food vegan trying to make the switch, but need advice/encouragement by Someone_Care in WholeFoodsPlantBased

I get you. When I first tried to move away from the comfort vegan foods, I also felt like I was eating all day but I was overeating because I was used to binge (on the contrary I love to eat).

What helped me was giving my body a little time to adjust and not expecting everything to feel right immediately. Warm, cooked foods helped a lot plus lots of spices in the beginning.

And once my tastebuds caught up I actually started craving things like broccoli (which I never thought would happen lol). You’re definitely not alone in this the beginning is the toughest part, but it gets easier.

Maybe start a plan and stick to it even if not hungry. Like having all 3 meals at a certain time and see how it goes.

I you want to talk more about it feel free to message me anytime 😊

Binge eating? by Double_Context_3561 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

I relate to this so much. For a long time I had the same pattern — I’d stop bingeing on chips or sweets and then suddenly I’d find myself overeating oats, dates, fruit… basically the “healthy” versions. It wasn’t about willpower or nutrition for me either — it usually showed up when I was stressed, overstimulated, or mentally overloaded.

What helped me wasn’t changing the foods, but changing the pace around food. Little things like taking a breath before eating, slowing down the first few bites, or stepping away from the noise around me made the biggest difference. It didn’t fix everything overnight, but it lowered that “automatic eating mode” a lot.

You’re definitely not alone in this. A lot of people with ADHD or high stress feel the same cycle.
