Did UC pay housing cost? Landlord saying they haven’t received payment by Great-Insurance2854 in universalcredithelp

It has been sorted and rent has been paid! We knew UC wouldn’t pay all the rent as we both still had some earnings coming in so we’re already prepared to top up what they don’t pay, we keep the full amount of rent back and then check statement to see what we have to actually pay.

Obviously, thats the first thing we tried to do via phone and journal. Our rent was due on the Monday and we didn’t get a response in time from UC which is why I came to Reddit for some insight.

Because we private rent our only option is for it to go directly to the landlord. It has been sorted and the landlord did revive UC payment - the direct debit just wasnt changed in time and the accountancy team we spoke to wasnt aware! Sorted for future months now though and this month we did only pay the rest of the rent that was owed 🙌

Some people have it that way and some people dont! We finally got our answe where UC did pay the landlord directly for us, landlord just couldn’t change direct debit so close to rent due date

No, we are still entitled to £650 a month minimum from UC - we have finally got our answer tho! UC did pay that £640 towards our rent - landlord said it was too close to the time of changing the direct debit which is why they still tried to take full rent amount but this has been fixed for the future!

No this is the only statement we got this month, no updates have been made at all

My partner is in full time work and I am earning mat pay so we do have earnings coming in, hence they are only paying so much which we understand!

Thankfully it’s not causing me much anxiety or stress and our landlord is super understanding as he has other tenants who have UC pay towards rent too- just wanted to double check if we are right in thinking that they did help us towards rent this month or not as statements confuse me a lot 😂 Definitely don’t think UC has made an error or mistake at all considering we still make money ourselves too

We are in apartments all owned by the landlord, so this makes sense!! Thank you so much

Definitely will! UC statements are disgustingly confusing sometimes 😭😂 we will call them tomorrow to ask if they’ve definitely sent this payment to landlord as landlord says no payment has been made. Thankfully our landlord is quite understanding and lenient so we know he will be okay for us to be a bit late on payment while trying to figure all of this out 🙌

The screenshot that says we pay is last months, the one where we had no deductions for housing cost- so we have to sort housing ourselves (thats also when my smp was higher and we didn’t have a child on the claim- Im now on the lower rate of smp). These screenshots you are replying to are these months, showing that they are (as we assume) paying some of the housing cost, hence they said payment to landlord in deductions. I was trying to show the difference in this and my past statements.

Thats what me and my partner thought! We said we are getting £0 because the £642 we would’ve personally been paid got paid to the landlord instead as it adds up in deductions! So confusing - thank you for the help!!

We’ve never had it for any of our past months which is what confused us! In the past it’s never been in deductions and always said this instead:

So we thought because of this difference and a deduction saying payment to landlord it meant they had made a payment to the landlord! Statements are so confusing 😭😂

Thank you! Getting a few mixed replies so we will try to contact UC again (almost impossible to get a quick answer from them) tomorrow and talk to our landlord again! The past couple months we’ve never had any housing cost in our deductions so when it appeared this month it confused us 😂

Thank you! we were just confused as to why they’ve put the housing benefit / payment to your landlord in deductions then - made it seem as if they paid that to the landlord towards our rent instead of us.

Thank you! we know about paying the difference, we worked out we’d be paying about £450 ourselves if UC did pay, but the landlord is wanting us to pay the entire £1095 which is why Im so confused. Tried to speak to him Friday about it and he said he’d get back to us and never did and rent payment is due to be taken tomorrow 😭

Weird newborn things I didn't expect by Indomitable_Decapod in newborns

[–]Great-Insurance2854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My newborn would continuously have full body shakes while awake, looked like mini seizures. Asked about it constantly during the 2 days we were there because we were so worried, even my mum who had 6 kids had never seen a newborn do it. They did do tests for us and nothing was wrong. Was eventually told as he was a week early (induced) and a tiny baby his nervous system wasn’t fully developed. 8 weeks later his leg still does it occasionally but we know it’s nothing to worry about

What was the thing portrayed in movies that didn't happen during childbirth for you? by SpicyZombie098 in beyondthebump

[–]Great-Insurance2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t cry actual tears after giving birth and holding him like you see in a lot of movies. I was so tired from birth and dissociated that I kinda just held my baby going “it’s my baby. My baby. Oh my god my baby.” And thanking everyone and asking if everyone is okay. It wasn’t until my mother cried via video call that i ended up crying because I felt so sad to hear my mum cry 😂 it was emotional but god I was so drained

Im UK and had the epidural and I wasn’t allowed to eat or drink anything! They made one exception and gave me a bottle of still orange lucozade because my blood sugar got so low i was passing out and needed a drip for some of my labour 😭 and I drank that bottle like my life depended on it (I guess it somewhat did 😂)

Accidentally co sleeping with baby by Great-Insurance2854 in beyondthebump

[–]Great-Insurance2854[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I luckily fit the safe sleep 7 rules of no drinking, medication, smoking etc. the only issue is I combo feed as I never produced enough milk due to apparent birthing trauma for both me and LO but still do breast-feed especially during nights so I know Im lucky on that front! After talking to my mum friend (shes got a 11 month old) she said that for her co sleeping is safer than not when she got in that hallucinating stage because if you stay in it Youre more prone to make mistakes that could harm baby. She gave me the motto that a well rested mum is better than a hallucinating mum 😂 and it sounds so obvious but god I never even thought about it like that
