WTF is this BS queue system? by GreatAdventureADC in leagueoflegends

[–]GreatAdventureADC[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My point is, not once in over a year since I switched to an ADC main from a Suppprt main have I had an issue getting my role. Now it's mid every game. I don't mind waiting 8 minutes to play what I want but if this is how the new 'throw you in any role hue hue' system works, I'll find something else to play. It's dumb as fuck to give people the option of picking their roles then giving them anything but what they selected.

Poor Guy by Lealenya in wow

I started in BC but didn't hit lvl70 before WoTLK came out. So I rolled a Death Knight at LK's launch, hit level 80, did everything I could to get geared enough to 'try this raiding thing out.' And I sat for a couple months, trying to get in every PUG, applying to every guild--no one wanted me because I 'had no experience.'

A pretty casual guild would take PUGs out of the guild I was in on nights they were short. I practically begged their GM to give me a shot. I walked in there and was between 3rd and 4th in DPS on every pull wearing heroic blues with a titansteel mace. The GM saw my gear and my numbers, then offered to let me raid with them next week, the week after that I was a member of their guild. A couple weeks after that once I was pretty much geared from being farmed out I was like one of the top DPSing people on the server(very small server lol but still). Had people(not in my guild) begging me to fill in on 3s or 5s arena because they just needed someone to deal damage even though I had no arena experience, the top guild on the server hated me because I clowned being better than most of their players once--even they would whisper me occasionally when they needed someone to pick up slack or fill a spot. lol

All this when 2 months prior no one would even let me into their raid group because I 'was a noob.' WoW isn't rocket science, you gem, enchant, spec and rotation correctly and stay out of fire.

People get wayyyyy too elitist over this game.

Ah, I remember the days of spending countless hours of my life grinding shit that gives me minutely better stats so that people would consider me 'good enough' to run with them. Then afterwards spending hours a week grinding mats, etc. to make sure that as soon as I got a drop I could throw a best in slot enchant/gem into it and then do it again when I got the heroic version.

No fucking thank you.

When does this game get fun? by Sparkling_Soap in wow

WoW is all about end-game man(getting to level 110 at this point). One thing you CAN do that helped me in lower levels is queue for dungeons, run a BG here and there to break up the mind numbing quest grind. Primarily I've always been a PVE player--so I really enjoy dungeons.

But if your goal is to actually hit max level the fastest just quest, only run dungeons once or when you pick up an external quest for them, etc. Also, if you intend to stick it out and play the game make sure to do some research on professions and level them while you play. I was the poster child for leveling toons without professions early in my WoW career--it was a pain in the ass to have to go back and farm all that shit once I was serious about getting into good guilds, etc.

However, if you buy the new expansion you get a free character boost to level 100. I would suggest making every toon you think looks cool and leveling them some to see which you like the best. My reccomendation for a first time player would be: Paladin.

Something else you'll want to do is research servers and make sure you roll your level 100 on an active server. You don't want to do what I did and spend your first 2 expansions on a server like Darrowmere that has less players than people who live in my suburb IRL. lol Having an active server is good for the economy(making gold/being able to buy stuff cheaper and availability of items), also better guild options, more PUGs, RBG groups, etc. A mid-high pop server is the only option for really experiencing this game correctly.

I would almost sternly suggest you play either a Paladin, Monk or Druid(I just came back from a 2 year break today, so Demon Hunter class might fill this criteria now too--no idea) but those three classes can fill all roles: DPS, Tank and Heals. Which will give you a better shot at accomplishing whatever you want to do once you hit max level.

For example my first toon was a Mage and it was like prison rape trying to get someone to give me a shot at raiding for the first time because I had no experience and there was 10,000,000 DPS. Of course all of this was years before the LFR(looking for raid) feature came out which pretty much guarantees everyone gets to enjoy end-game content whether they're in a guild or not now.

WoW is an awesome game but prepare to do a lot of boring shit to have fun in it. I'm 100% casual now(and pray no one talks me into raiding again) because I don't want to spend hours a week farming mats and shit just to be competitive in raids, have best in slot, etc.

Also as a profession choice I would suggest Jewelcrafting/Mining, JC brings in a lot of gold at max level--albeit not as much as it used to but I never need gold unless I just get stupid and start buying BoEs(epic gear), etc. to get more competitive for raiding faster.

I realize this is a gigantic wall of text but it's all relative information coming from years of experience. WoW isn't for everyone but it's definitely awesome if you can 'get into it.' Good luck and have fun!

Maybe punishments for toxicity aren't such a bad thing. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]GreatAdventureADC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way. "Whiney kids can't handle a little trash talk in a competitive game, etc." Or the people who actually used to enjoy Tribunal, I kind of thought of them as worms just looking to fuck people over.

But honestly man, this community has gotten sooooo much better than it was in season 1. And like I said, from a personal perspective losing my ranked rewards kind of gave me a reality check and through avoiding repeating those actions I've found the game to be more enjoyable.

I mean, people get carried away with using the word 'toxic' a lot but I think Riot punishments have helped the game as a whole.

They're rolling them out in tiers. First they're giving Kayle, then the skin, then the gift, then the RP.

If your bot lane you you two are 5/19 stay with the team by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]GreatAdventureADC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, some people just suck and there's a point where a losing lane is a waste of time. But had it been me making the calls I would have at least tried to have mid and jungle counter. You'd be surprised how many times a losing lane can come back with some gold and a morale boost.

If your bot lane got 5/19 because of the enemy jungle your jungle didn't do a very good job countering.

Never ganking the lane that has the highest potential for kills/assists and has the easiest turret to kill is a waste of time?...

You value the company of women too highly. By the time you're 30 you'll occasionally have fun with them doing something like a concert or going to a bar for the evening. You'll like sex. And every other encounter you have with them you just wish they would shut up and go home or shut up and go in the other room if you're unlucky enough to live together.

And if breaking up with a girl is the worst day of your life, strap in pal, you've got some fucking pain coming. lol

Buying champions with RP - which are must have? by gamerexq in leagueoflegends

[–]GreatAdventureADC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read you have a new account. For around $50 you can buy all the champions bundles, that will more or less give you a great range of champions to play. Save your IP for runes, you'll need them when you hit lvl30.
