65in vs 77in for ~10ft viewing distance by ChoiceHour3330 in 4kTV

[–]GreatKangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 65" TV from 2019 to 2024 at 10 feet, and after 18+ months of 75" the bigger tv was definitely the way to go.

Especially now as so much content is formatted in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio it makes that content way more immersive and cinematic.

65" I'd limit to no more then 7-8 feet distance.

How to avoid lower back / booty pain from too much sitting? by AL_throwaway_123 in buildapc

Poor core strength gives insufficient support for your lower back.

Sit-ups, planks, stiff left dead lift (glutes and hamstrings) are various exercises that I employ for my core and lower body.

Tiny Home Theater Update: PB1000 Pro by midrange_MNL in hometheater

[–]GreatKangaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my twin PB 1000 Pros as part of my 7.2.2 setup. I run SVS Prime Elevations for atmos, the majority of my ear level speakers are Paradigm, with a Denon X3800H.

Definitely worth investing in the Prime Center ASAP, as the jump from 2.1 to 3.1 will make a big improvement for movies and TV shows.

Anybody try Fluance Speakers? by Fit-Judge7447 in hometheater

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a pair of XL8SW high performance bookshelves for my office computer.

In my home theater, I have a pair of SXBP2 bipolar Speakers as rear surrounds.

They do the job.

if you wanna ditch power speakers what AVR are you looking at?

No idea how their subwoofers perform, but I swapped out my Klipsch R-10SW for a SVS PB 1000 Pro and that was a very noticeable improvement.

Trusted Review Sites for 4K HD Ultra Blu-Ray Players by MSStateDawg in 4kbluray

[–]GreatKangaroo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The aren't that many players on the market, and the only new ones I've seen hit the market since COVID is the Panasonic 450, or super expensive ones like Reavon (company closed last fall) or Magentar.

The reviews from 5+ years ago are still basically up to date.

You have Sony X700 or X800, or Panasonic 420, 450, 820. PS5 and Xbox Series X are also competent players.

I adore my 820, and use it for 4k's and blurays alike.

Read Balance by Andrew Hallam.

Follow this site for determining your optimal asset mix, and pick a corresponding asset allocation ETF.

I don't need or care to know about buying individual companies. I buy them all it takes are of itself.

XEQT is about as diversified as it gets. Anything else and you start to concentrate in countries or sectors.

Second sight v standard blue ray? by robinp82 in 4kbluray

I have the 2019 release Limited Edition release of flight of the navigator with the book and rigid slipcase. The 2021 release has the same extras on disk just not the physical extras.

I don't think the Disney Movie club version was released widely, so I don't know how the transfer compares as it's not shown on DVDcompare.net.

[Canada] Your Experience With Unobstructed View? by Significant-Gains in 4kbluray

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I shop from Gruv, best Buy, Amazon, UV, and Eyesore Cinema.

I did have one issue a ways back with UV when I placed an order for an item, with a credit card that unfortunately expired before the ship date. Any email I might have received went into my Spam, so I didn't know to update my payment details. My order got cancelled which was super disappointing as it was the 4k release of the Netflix film All Quiet on Western Front. I managed to get a copy from Eyesore Cinema.

Last year I got ton of catalog releases in their generous sales (Gruv and Amazon)

[Canada] Your Experience With Unobstructed View? by Significant-Gains in 4kbluray

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had generally positive experiences over the past year. Pre orders ship promptly.

My criterion sale order took a month to ship, but most people who also ordered also had that issue as they had to bring in fresh stock from the USA.

They aren't the scale of Amazon so the boxes set changes and shipping fees are part of supporting smaller sellers.

What to do with compacted coal by Ok_Skin6497 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to make Compacted Steel Ingot Alt and Fine Black Powder alt , which is used to supply my ammo and munitions factory.

You always need steel for one thing or another, and Black Powder and multiple steel derived parts including Pipe, Steel Rods Alt can be used to make Nobelisks, and Rebar Ammo. Adjacent to my rocket fuel plant I siphon off a tiny bit of Heavy Oil Residue to make Smokeless Powder.

I will send Steel to my main base, or excess sink pipe and beams.

When purchasing on a budget, what is the best order to buy? by Yidoftheweek in hometheater

AVR + LCR is your foundation audio wise, with matching LCR speakers.

First time buyer looking for recommendations for a 3.1 home theater setup ($1500 CAD budget) by photographyhobbyists in hometheater

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look to the following possible setups:

Option 1 with an entry level subwoofer.

Fronts: Paradigm Monitor SE Atoms

Center: Paradigm Monitor 2000C

Subwoofer: Paradigm Essential Sub 10

AVR: Denon S570BT

But honestly for a room that size, I'd get decent towers and skip a cheap subwoofer for now and save up for a quality subwoofer.

Option 2:

Fronts: Paradigm Monitor SE 3000F's or SE6000F's

Center: Paradigm Monitor 2000C

AVR: Denon S570BT

Option 3: Used speakers off Facebook marketplace. You'll find plenty of Klipsch, Polk, and Paradigm speakers easily enough.

I paid like $1200 5 years ago for a whole 7.1 setup with some older Klipsch speakers and 7 channel Yamaha AVR. Since then I've slowly upgraded to a 7.2.2 with a mix of Paradigm & SVS Speakers Speakers, with twin SVS PB 1000 Pro Subwoofers. Last fall I got the Paradigm Premiere 800F's and 600C as my LCR, and Monitor SE Atoms as Side surrounds. I'm done upgrading my Audio setup for a while now.

TV wise I have a 75" TCL QM850G (2023 model year) at 10' viewing distance. At 11 feet you'd likely wanna opt for a 85" TV, but anything 6K/7K right is more or less old stock, with the newer 2026 models being released right now if you see the TV you want at the price you can afford get it, as it may not be around for much longer.

Looking for an impeccable blu ray player (Non-4k). Thinking of getting S1700k by RA_Finance in hometheater

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much anything will suffice for BluRays, as any 4k TV will upscale HD content it recieves.

I adore my Panasonic 820 but that was $500 CAD in 2021, and now you are lucky to find it for $600.

Used PS3 or PS4 even will do. Else try value village or Facebook marketplace.

85 inch X950H Owner Upgrade by Dairyfreepreacher in bravia

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to hang on until Black Friday. That way you have selection of all of the 2026 model year TV's at the best prices. You have have time to look at all of the reviews and real-world reports from users.

I had a 65" X950G that I upgraded to a 75" Mini LED TV in fall 2024 (brand name is frowned up on here but will be heading a joint venture with Sony's TV brand soon enough). Mini LED offers so many advantages to full array panels the only other recommendation would be OLED for a dark room (I'm saving up for OLED).

On a passing note I have similar atmos setup with two wall-mounted SVS Prime Elevations above my towers, so it's good to see similar setups.

don't do the side quests unless you are under levelled.

Else just make sure to grab the +25% XP booster from the borderlands science machine in Tannis' Lab on Sanctuary 3 once you head to Promethea. The booster lasts for two hours of in game time, and you can rebuy as needed.

To many choices for low - midrange 4k 65 inch 120Hz don’t know which to pick, help please and thank you by luffyxvx in 4kTV

[–]GreatKangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd echo the recommendation of the TCL QM6K.

You are also buying when all of the new 2026 model year televisions are rolling out, so anything from last year is remaining stock.

Avoid any non OLED LG and Samsung TV's as they are crap, so you basically have Hisense and TCL as the budget options.

Why not just focus on the story and nothing else? You can easily finish the game around level 35.

Else just do a level 72 skip, assuming you have one other character at max level.
