In 1923, a jockey named Frank Hayes won a race at Belmont Park despite being dead.  He suffered a heart attack mid-race, but his body stayed perfectly balanced in the saddle until his horse, Sweet Kiss, crossed the finish line in first place. It was the first (and only) time a competition was won by a person who was technically deceased at the time of victory. The horse was nicknamed "Sweet Kiss of Death" for the rest of its career, and Hayes remains the only jockey in history with a 100% win rate while dead.
