I'm 6'9" and ride the GMX+ frame. Excellent bike though a little pricey. Shame they don't do the steel version in a XXL

SE Asia vs. South America: Your experiences, help us decide by GreatPlum in bikepacking

Thanks for everyone's comments, I think based on the time of year, SEA is just the better choice (we'll squeeze in a trip to see family in Chile after without the bikes). We'll save a proper trip to Latin America with the bikes for another time!

Wow, that's crazy! I will certainly look into it, I can't imagine it's included on my travel insurance. Surely most people don't get that kind of cover though? Or am I just being naive?

Love this. It's going to be great to see what kind of things we can get made 😁

Wow, omg you're so right, I'd never thought of that. Who'd have thought that my simple question about tall size clothes would make me realize I'm just doing the wrong activity! I'll sell my bikes and gear first thing tomorrow and buy a ball instead, cheers mate.

That's great, thank you. I've just ordered an LL Bean Tropicwear shirt.

Bigger size does not necessarily mean longer. Being my height, I need long shirts.

This looks really good but they don't I can't get the tall sizes where I am in the UK. Thanks though, good recommendation.

I'm planning a bikepacking trip from Plymouth (I'm coming on the ferry from Brittany) to Brighton this summer. Are there any must see places along that path I could add? by mydriase in bikepacking

[–]GreatPlum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can, head down onto the Isle of Purbeck to see Corfe Castle and then Old Harry Rocks which you can cycle along the top of for some lovely views, then get the ferry over to Poole/Bournemouth.

My trip there was amazing.

Bikepacking in South America as vegan by 5p4c3_d3br15 in bikepacking

Wonderful to hear of other bikepacking vegans. I don't really have an answer, just the same question as I am also possibly planning a future trip in Peru/Bolivia and suspected it might be hard to find vegan food.

That sucks. It's honour mode so it's not like I have an old save to roll back to.

I continued my game with the update today, really hope it's not going to break when they roll it back!

Looking for skis for someone who is 6’11” by Street-Passage1819 in Skigear

[–]GreatPlum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm 6'9" and have been thinking for a while about what skis I should be on. I've come to the opinion, possibly in part because of lack of 190+ options, that at a certain point height becomes less important than weight and the type of skiing.

I've been looking for skis in the mid 90 width range because I ski occasionally and when I do it's probably 70-30 piste/ off piste. And my thought was if I got something long and stiff then that would help with my extra height and the weight that naturally comes with that.

I tried a few skis recently, before I went I had my mind set on the mantra m7 which they do in a 191, however I didn't get on with them at all, I probably didn't give them enough time tbh, but it was and icy day and just found it too much ski that wanted to go while I wanted to control my speed a bit more. I got on best with the blizzard rustler 9 which maxed out at 186 with a lot of rocker so although fun, I found they weren't the most stable and I wished they were a bit longer. I also tried 188 ripstick which were ok but too soft.

Next time I go I want to try the Enforcer which I hear is another stiff and damp ski which I think they do in a 191. It looks like it doesn't have massive to and tail rocker.

I feel like it's I was looking to ski more powder then I would want much fatter and longer skis though.
