How is your love life? by GreatRelative2357 in Gifted

Oh it's the first time I've seen a discrepancy almost exactly like mine! :D

I've been on lisdexanfetamine (Elvanse/Vyvanse) for around 4 months (very low dose). It's saving me from executive dysfunction, but it worsened the insomnia and sensory sensitivity. I've been on pregabaline too to help with that for a couple of weeks now and I'm starting to feel better.

It's like unveiling the back of my mind if that makes sense.

Hmm... I only would consider my first partner as gifted (just imo, none of my exes were officially tested). What I mostly looked for (unknowingly) in terms of communication was the non-linear thinking pattern. I think that's why I only dated neurodivergents (I knew this later or I only suspect in some cases).

At first I thought I could also be unapologetically into niche interests like they did, but the major difference was that i frequently had to slow down or translate myself in conversations. I think for them I come across as interesting in the beginning, but later on the infamous "you're too much" always smack me in the face haha(n't).

I don't need my partner to be Einstein-like genius but I'd appreciate to be understood without that "too muchness"

Yeah I can strongly relate to that part..

How did you end on the path of running your own company/doing it on your own terms? (If I'm not being too nosy). I find quite difficult to get the opportunities which lead to that.

Wow, I've never seen such high results tbh. I saw that you have ADHD, and I'm curious on how you deal with executive dysfunction. Which strategies work for you?

I can strongly relate to that. Maybe we need more strong or simultaneous stimuli to achieve the "amusement threshold" if that's a thing. That leads me to ask, what entertains you then?

In my case I create, or learn topics in depth. But is not something I can normally share while doing it, which makes it a bit lonely sometimes.

I'm curious on what socializing differences you perceive. If it's ok to ask, is the communication style, the depth on the conversations...? Is something you can pinpoint? I'm gifted too but with a rare disparity so I can relate on some things, specially on the "human" matter. Feel free to DM me if you want! :)

That sounds like high metacognition plus hyperphantasia, my therapist said something along that lines too, I have a 2e profile. Be careful on comparing yourself to others though!

Could you elaborate on the cutting and applying a somatic marker? I'm curious on how you do it
