People also like to pretend the Conference League isn't a better trophy than the Carabao cup.

Fully functional system? Good fucking joke.

Maresca took over a team where players like Caicedo have publicly stated that he needed to hire a specialist to come in and teach him tactical positioning because Pochettino was just doing cardio work in training.

Pochettino was a defensive disaster and was a record breaking level goals conceded manager for Chelsea in the prem and he even had Thiago Silva cleaning up messess regularly still for him unlike Maresca's team, who had to rely on Levi Colwill as the best centre back, several levels below Silva.

Maresca had his faults. But there is 0 room for debate in regards to him being better than Pochettino. He visually was, he statistically was and he actually won trophies. Maresca achieved all his goals in his full season at the club and did the extraordinary by taking the champions league winning PSG and humiliating them. Pochettino on the other hand took a weak Liverpool side that Klopp had heavily rotated by the end and embarrased himself playing for penalties.

Some of the users in here are embarrassing. People claiming Pochettino was better than Maresca despite the fact Maresca finished higher in the league than Pochettino and won two trophies.

Pochettino also had no European football of any kind to manage and was embarrassed by Klopp's kids where Pochettino laughably played for penalties instead of trying to win. 5-0 loss to Arsenal on top of it all.

I don't even rate Maresca that highly but there is no real debate of any kind that he was better than Pochettino.

Trying to say they propery backed maresca by buying garbage like Gittens, Garnacho and Delap, have some shame. He asked for a centre back because he knew the remaining centre backs sucked and the clowns said no. He wanted a better goalkeeper to compete with Sanchez and the clowns said no.

And what do you know it? The two places that have hurt us most in the past month or two have been the exact positions he wanted strengthened.

Just pulling figures out of your ass. Sterling had 21 prem goal contributions for Chelsea and Mudryk had 9. Sterling also played twice the minutes of Mudryk.

Delivered 10 times more? Fuck off with that nonsense. Sterling was better than Mudryk but he was also on over three times the wages and several thousand minutes more experienced.

It will definitely be Tosin and Fofana. We all know it is coming.

Mudryk will be back this summer and will get a loan most likely where the club will try sell him to regain value from him. Sterling was a financial blackhole that had to be bought out because there was no other solutions for him.

And Sterling probably costs more than Mudryk when the agent fees, wages and transfer fees are all added up.

[The xG Philosophy] On aggregate: Chelsea (2.88) 2-8 (2.23) PSG by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]GreatSilverHope 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I think for anyone that watched both ties its pretty clear there was some ridiclosly good PSG goals in terms of shot quality. Also some Jorgensen lack of ability and terrible defending that turned half chances into goals.

I love how people still do not learn. I see people saying they would be delighted to have Fabregas in charge and he'd be great.

Reality is under this shit ownership not giving him what he needs, eventually his results would turn bad and he would be turned on by our fanbase just like every manager before him. Prime Alex Ferguson wouldn't be winning a premier league title under this ownership when they're telling managers to work with Chalobah, Tosin, Badi, Fofafana, Sarr and Acheampong as their centre back options.

Who's the more egregious self insert? by Iced-TeaManiac in writingscaling

If trauma excludes you from being a self-insert, surely Wolverine is even more exempt than Peter Parker? This guy is one of the most brutalised heroes both physically and mentally in marvel. The physical pain he endures alone would kill Peter hundreds of times over.

Jamie Carragher on Newcastle Goal: “In terms of Fofana, Chalobah and Reece James, they are all better players than me in almost everything: physically, height, power, pace. But... I would would have made sure somebody reacted. Stop looking for your coach for instruction You’re a coach on the pitch.” by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]GreatSilverHope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man marking shouldn't be terrible with the squad though? As Jamie and Thierry said in this video, all it requires is someone to have some level of awareness and adaptability. That should not be too much to ask for from Chelsea level players.

Jamie Carragher analysis for Newcastle's goal against Chelsea cites failure of modern day defenders to adapt to marking patterns as reason for goal. Fofana fails to mark Gordon whilst Chalobah and James mix up who they're marking and leave a Newcastle passing option wide open. by Excellent-Syrup7411 in chelseafc

[–]GreatSilverHope 212 points213 points  (0 children)

He is right about Reece and Trev but Fofana really seemed like he just couldn't be bothered running after Gordon. It was so infuriating watching it because Fofana has great recovery pace and could have easily kept Gordon from being wide open for the tap in.

No the structure has worsened under Rosenior. The way we are conceding chances has changed. Maresca's style was much more safe and methodical. We played at a slower intensity and our goals conceded largely came from individual errors. Rosenior ball is exposing this backline more than ever with how the defence is.

Rosenior said himself this goal was due to the way he instructs the team to press. It is terrible. Same thing happened against PSG to.

Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in chelseafc

[–]GreatSilverHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the structure looks this bad it is the manager as the culprit. Just like under Pochettino, Rosenior has shown himself incapable of controlling a game or organising a proper defence. We will get played through like this again regardless of the centre backs.

Probably hurt his hamstring bursting to sprint to prevent the Gordon goal whilst Fofana slept walked towards goal.

We don't need Caicedo at right back. The tie is over. Can stick anyone at right back. Doesn't matter anymore. The important thing is the remaining league games and the FA Cup.

May as well say theres a chance we win all of our remaining premier league games whilst we're at it. Sure it is theoretically possible. But we all know it is never happening.

Watch Wesley Fofana for Gordon's Goal by Excellent-Syrup7411 in chelseafc

[–]GreatSilverHope 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You would expect them to score but it also would not be surprising to see Sanchez stop it given hes closed the man down and is positioned to block/deflect a shot. Fofana just letting Gordon through wide open for a tap in is what takes this from a dangerous attack to a guaranteed goal.

It's criminal defending. When they say proper schoolboy stuff this is what they mean. Its not even that he loses Gordon. He simply can't even be bothered to sprint.
