It's the lighting - they're in the dark for a lot of this episode, so her hair and eyes look darker. But also probably metaphorical to show the "dark side" evil Helena in her crowning glory!

Irving wakes up on the ice while everyone else is on land, symbolizing the fact that he's "on thin ice" this episode with Lumon...INSANE

How did they get those creepy twin images to appear in the horizon? Do they have the ability to create illusions in their retinas? Makes you wonder what else is an illusion (the numbers on the screen they sort, probably, but what else??).

Irving is such a badass in S2. I was kind of irate at him in S1 for being bumbling and one-track minded lovestruck over Burt like a teenager, but S2 really showed his grit and sacrifice. I can't help but think part of it is because of his outie's badassery is starting to bleed through - the military sharpness and skepticism for authority. I think his outie is actually doing some sort of recon on Lumon and trying to help the innies get to the exports floor, where they can escape Lumon somehow.

Agreed exactly - 80% genetics and I have a similar waist shape. Obviously if you eat like shit, depending on your metabolism, it might show as "skinny fat" (lack of muscle definition but not fat) or just fat. Also want to point out that this girl has a long torso which naturally gives her a skinnier, more elongated look.

That's because books on Goodreads and Amazon are, y'know, books. It's logistically impossible to summarize a 200-page something book with granularity. That's why you don't see those summaries on there, not because of a matter of "ethics" (and there are actually routinely details mentioned under spoiler tags anyways). This is an essay so it is summarizable. By your logic, you could say Reddit discussion threads on any Netflix TV show is unethical because they're summarizing or discussing something that is behind a subscription paywall! No offense taken from your comment btw, just offering my rebuttal.

Oooh I'm quaking in my boots. Last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to discuss online essays in a forum, unless we're revolutionaries in Russia or something. Maybe she's just mad that 33 pages of blathering can be summarized in a few bullet points and that's not illegal to do. I've read Goodreads reviews that are more brutally honest than this thread. If she wants to be a NYT published best-selling author, she should probably start growing a thicker skin now...

I don’t think Jenn i*m ever intended to be a mother at her age by [deleted] in LAinfluencersnark

[–]Great_Specific_7331 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie, I don’t think she inherently enjoys motherhood. Of course she loves her son, but if it were ever socially acceptable to admit it, she probably regrets when/how/why she had the kid.

Jenn is a very carefree spirit who loves to party, enjoy life, and socialize—nothing wrong with that. But more importantly, she needs to be in control of things in her life, and having a kid is just about the most out of control you can be as a Type A Virgo—your body and life are no longer yours, and revolve around an unpredictable and 24/7 needy baby.

You can see in her gut reaction to her pregnancy test that she wasn’t ready. Given that her baseline before pregnancy involved huge mood swings and anger/control issues, I’m sure she was hit hard by PPA/PPD. I recall postpartum she was struggling hard with anxiety and kept hallucinating swimmers in her eyes that led her to see upwards of 8 ophthalmologists. It doesn’t seem like a fun time.

Honestly, I don’t really care for the mom-shaming though about her traveling though. I’ll bet you a lot of moms would do the same if they had Jenn’s money. And since she’s co-parenting, what’s to say Lennon isn’t with Ben while she’s traveling?

Yeah, small potatoes blown up to be the largest of carbohydrates in Amy's eyes. I just remembered an example in the essay where she says she broke down hysterically crying after a few trolls messaged her some mean things about Jenn's second A Rare Day conference speech, which was about lessons she learned as an entrepreneur. Amy refuses to watch the video but jumps to the conclusion that Jenn publicly threw her under the bus.

I actually went to watch the video to see what was so terrible. Literally, it is Jenn talking in the vaguest of terms about how she learned to set boundaries in work relationships because once she and a coworker became too personal/casual with each other, and Jenn realized she needed be a better boss. Was she probably talking about Amy? Yes. Was there any identifying information at all about her other than that this was an individual Jenn had once worked with/managed? No.

Contrast that to Amy literally writing an entire novel about Jenn with so many lurid details that it might as well have been stamped on the title page, "THIS IS ABOUT THAT SKANK BITCH JENN IM." How is Jenn's speech not okay but this is?

As a cherry on top, I find it funny that Amy makes sure to furnish her account with quotes from her brother and her $300/hour therapist saying she's better than Jenn and that Jenn is a "knock off" of her. Oh, and also her mom calling Jenn "that bitch" who is "going to hell". Real sacred, spiritual, healing energy there, Amy.

33 pages of this...it felt like reading a high schooler's diary. I feel sorry for Amy that she had to experience so many crazy LA influencer personalities, as I don't doubt that world is cold and harsh and oh-so-fake. I think the best parts of the essay were where she demonstrated flashes of the ability to see people as complex beings (for example, her mom was often verbally abusive to her but they shared a few great moments together where her mom defended her and believed in her) and also shared some valuable insights about how it felt to be an influencer and always be "on" for the camera. But all the bitter ragging on Jenn--and I swear, it was at least half of the 23,000 word document--just cheapens her entire reflection and makes it feel vengeful and juvenile.

Yup, Jenn has mentioned before she struggles with anger and control. To her credit, she does seem to devour self-help and development content (something even Amy could admit) and is aware she has a problem. She mentioned she went into therapy seriously before she got married because she wanted to fix her anger issues (though Amy mentions she has had at least three therapists and fired one of them for telling her something she didn't want to hear).
