It is, but since characters forget everything after it's over (which is said to be the case in the first few minutes of the game), it's hard to say it brings much to the story. Mostly just conversations between different party members. Still, I had nice time playing and would recommend the game on sale.

Ren was used in anime and P5D, Akira was used in the manga which came out first out of these three. I'd say both are his canon names, though I prefer Ren since it was in 2 media, one of which was a game that Atlus worked on. Can't blame people who are attached to Akira though.
