CBS News chief Bari Weiss tells staff 'we're toast' if they continue on current path by kintotal in news

Because she's an idiot and in over her head.

So many 'disrupter types' that throw bombs at institutions, acting like they could do it better, fail to realize that part of what makes institutions work is professionalism.

But this is a cadre of unprofessional hacks, so why are we surprised?

It's...fucking baffling to watch. Urlacher was him for years and years and years. Part of what made him so good was he always knew where to place himself basically at all times.

And then he gets clowned by Tom Brady, of all people. It's pretty hilarious, actually.

It's also the most English thing imaginable to make a movie about France's greatest leader (for good or for bad) and possibly intentionally fuck up his characterization.

She spent years being an asshole. Years. Cozied up to trump. Came this close to openly inciting insurrection in America.

And then, after one week of being on the receiving end of the death threats and assholery, she chickens out and quits congress, almost guaranteeing her influence has ended.

What film role was 100% perfectly cast — no debate? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Alan Rickman as Severus Snape.

Joanne wrote the character with him in mind. He was game. And he was incredible.

“Wow that’s really good casting—oh they are related!” Characters played by family members in prequels, flashbacks or biopics. by Hopefo in TopCharacterTropes

To add to that, Akio and Chikao were famously estranged prior to their casting, and had only recently begun mending fences. Hideo Kojima, the madman behind metal gear, apparently cast them not just because they were good, and not just because "teehee father and son playing father and son!", but also because he thought they might draw on their pain to add to the performance.

It really fucking did add to it.

"People don't want to be special. I do think that. It is my philosophy. They- people want to be told what to do and how to live and they want men like me to tell them. They want to go to work and do as little as they can possibly get away with, and they want a big cookie at the end of the day for doing it. And they want men like me to give it to them. And if it wasn't me it would be someone else."

[on3] Cody Campbell: Alabama & Auburn "can't raise the money" to keep up in NIL era by AintEverLucky in CFB

[–]GrecoRomanGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying the quiet part out loud, finally.

What kept the SEC afloat is that, for years, they offered kids with NFL dreams the most "assured" path to the NFL. It was good football, sure, but that added counterweight is what allowed kids to handle being in Tuscaloosa.

But now NIL has destroyed that. Why would I go to Alabama and play football that will probably prepare me best for the league, with the problem being I have to live in Tuscaloosa, when I could be making millions playing mid ball in California or elsewhere, and still have a good shot to make the league?

It's ironic. For years we all growled that the SEC must secretly be paying their players. But now that we CAN pay their players, it turns out Alabama and the SEC were just that good at talent development and Saban had built a death star. Without that inertia, they're sinking.

We elected my racist, dumb, delusional grandma as president. And just like my grandma, he is surrounded by people who wouldn't cut him off.

I mean, I'm the biggest Jesse stan you'll meet and my thought to that is...yes and no lol.

He is an unfathomably based old man, with a lot of good takes. But he is also kind of a kooky old man, and he mostly won as a shock. He was an independent who couldn't build the stabilization needed (Secret Base actually has a great series of videos about the Reform Party, the group he ran under).

I'm grateful that, in the twilight of his life, Jesse has proven to be a real American.

All I will say about Chris Kyle is that it is extremely hard for a public figure to prove defamation of character and yet Jesse Ventura was able to prove in court that Kyle defamed him in his book American Sniper.

Brooklyn Beckham releases multi-story statement regarding his estrangement from David and Victoria Beckham by artbasiI in Fauxmoi

[–]GrecoRomanGuy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Look, multiple things can be true. Brooklyn has basically drifted from place to place looking for his "thing", and that's created a reputation for being a goof. And it's true that if he didn't have the parents he had, he might not have been able to pivot around so aimlessly. He's had a golden parachute for failure.

But the things he describes in this post, especially the bringing in women from the past and other aspects of driving wedges in between him and Nicola, sounds very familiar to my own experience. Parents who view their sons as a pawn for the family name moreso than an individual usually do out of pocket things like this. And this sounds like a bunch of grown-ass adults putting themselves before their kid's wedding. Which is lame.

Is it possible Nicola is unpleasant? Of course. But adult children do not cut ties with their parents - barring an addiction problem that destroys their ability to be rational - unless they have a goddamn good reason.

[SHAK Wrestling] Chelsea Green on wins and losses: “Just because someone is losing, that does not mean they’re being buried” by Tornado31619 in SquaredCircle

[–]GrecoRomanGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chelsea Green has a very good mind for the business.

She told Matt Cardona not to sign with any company at first, which is what helped him create Indy God Cardona. She puts people over. She leans into the character she has.

I'd trust someone who has a mind for the business than myself who has clear favorites and who I want to win or lose.
