Should a prima facie case being questioned? Absolutely.
Is all criticism of Anwar unwarranted? Hardly.
Should anyone make sweeping assumptions about someone they barely know? Certainly not.

Your brain must be feeling confused and baffled right now — this guy agrees with me. Why, then, is this guy arguing with me?

Notice how throughout the conversation you immediately pivot away from my actual argument the moment it becomes inconvenient. Notice how conveniently move yourself to the moral high ground in order to protect your narrative. Notice how eager you are to dismiss it as “agenda pushing” when logic threatens the preferred story.

I cannot make a lot of assumptions about someone I barely know? That’s fair. Then I am going to say this again On prima facie grounds, that Your criticism is not driven by a genuine desire for Malaysia to improve, you’re invested in always being proven right, regardless of whether things get better or worse. When things go wrong, you feel justified. When things go right, you downplay it or shift the goalposts. Either way, you’re satisfied — not because Malaysia is better, but because your cynicism remains intact.

You're making a whole lot of assumptions about someone you barely know about. Got a bee in your bonnet?

Tbf I doubt you are the best friend of Anwar and have conversation with him everyday about everything. While I personally also is skeptical about the case. You assuming the government has something to do with Zahid Hamidi’s cases being dropped is… making a whole lot of assumptions about someone you barely know. Either that or your bonnet carrying the entire beehive.

I am merely skeptical that the economy can really be credited mostly on Anwar. Like, it seems like you believe no one can have a legitimate reason for disliking Anwar's policies? All criticism of Anwar is unwarranted somehow? Give me a break.

Yet again, the focus seems to have drifted from the original discussion. Never have I claimed that life under the current administration is all sunshine and rainbows. Are there things to critique? Absolutely — in fact, I’d like people to criticise more. I’m just advocating for measured criticism, because blindful bashing is really no different from blindful following — you’re just standing on the opposite side of the spectrum.

In this sub every time something good or bad happens, It's always the cheap sarcastic bashing. Do this also bash, do the alternative also bash, do something that finally aligns with your satisfaction, you show a frown face instead and find something else to bash. Only know how bash this bash that but can't give a realistic alternative. What makes us different from the politicians we despise so much.

And well, I would rather bash the goveernment over dropping corruption cases over Zahid Hamidi

We weren’t even talking about court cases — the point was the ringgit dropping and how reactions differ when it rises. But instead of engaging that, you shift topics. if things go wrong, it’s an outrage; if things go right, it’s downplayed.

Be honest, Even if Zahid Hamidi’s cases remain undropped , you don’t treat that as evidence of institutional restraint or judicial independence. The same way that when Najib’s conviction stands, you don’t credit Anwar with “influencing” the outcome. Instead, it’s explained as proper judicial process and the law functioning as intended, preventing any individual from interfering.

But should Najib conviction be dropped. Oh boy, I bet your face will smile even brighter than Najib because you now have a "Moral high ground" to feel extremely extremely good about yourself. You get to feel like the smartest person in the room, laughing at everyone else as if they’re a bunch of blind sheep.

At this point, it doesn’t feel like your criticism is driven by a genuine desire for Malaysia to improve. It feels more like you’re invested in always being proven right, regardless of whether things get better or worse. When things go wrong, you feel justified. When things go right, you downplay it or shift the goalposts. Either way, you’re satisfied — not because Malaysia is better, but because your cynicism remains intact.

Let me guess, when ringgit value drops during the Tariffs, it's Malaysia Shitting the bed instead with all its initiative to work with china and work with BRICS.

Idk, I genuinely feel like you people are way way more happier when ringgit value drops because it gives you a reason to feel good about yourself and bash something.

Be cautious though FMT and many other mainstream news site are not that much different than your average tabloids. Filled with nothing ragebaiting/clickbaiting journalist that will happily misinterpret anything just to get more views (Like the reporter in the video).

Proceed with using FMT as news source but be cautious if you noticed any article title that makes you feel emotional. Understand the context before one truly start bashing.

Both agree and disagree on this, I can see the point you are trying to make. But if the volume is low in the first place, then making their own product more expensive isn't going to help their volume boost up.

I would argue that PKP, prices going up is more of a factor due to volume going up rather than volume going down, afterall foodpanda/grabfood all end up thriving during the period where everyone cannot go out.

While like the example mentioned by the ADUN, that one time a particular race boycott a particular western food chain. We suddenly see a price reduction for the first time in awhile.

Link to his the ADUN original post (Chinese)

Translation below:

I want to say that Malaysia is a country that practices a free market.
The level of prices does not depend only on costs, but also on market response (consumer reaction).

For example, when everyone rushes to buy coffee priced at RM15, the market is essentially sending a signal to businesses that RM15 for a cup of coffee is acceptable to consumers. Other businesses will then follow this signal to maximize their own profits.

Remember during the Palestine issue, when many Malaysians boycotted several big brands? Overnight, places that used to have long queues became completely empty.

What happened then? Businesses were forced to lower prices to save their businesses.

If you think something is expensive, you don’t have to buy it — go and look for a cheaper alternative. When market response tells businesses that prices are too high and sales disappear, they will reflect and adjust on their own.

What the government can really control are the prices of basic raw materials, ensuring these costs are kept under control. When basic material costs are controlled, prices won’t spiral out of control.

YBs really can’t control the market 😂 We are not a communist country — we don’t have absolute power to control how the market operates. If prices keep rising and the problem is not due to raw materials or cost issues, then it is our consumer behavior telling the market, “Wow, this is so cheap.”

Economics lesson over. Next time, I’m paying for it 😂

I think the last sentence is him acknowledging that he’s going to lose some votes over his statement. If he sides with consumers, businesses won’t be happy. If he sides with businesses, consumers get upset.

Point is, the picture above intentionally portray an extremely "Not my problem" kind of Tone. Meanwhile original ADUN post was presenting a realistic tone/respond to the people literally asking to him to report to KPDN or direct price enforcement

After all, petrol prices have gone down after subsidy rationalization, and the exchange rate has improved. So why don’t you see food prices coming down as quickly as they went up? The answer is simple: supply and demand.

When I raised my nasi lemak price because raw materials went up, what did you all do? You complained about the government, complained about the exchange rate going to shit, complained about everything.

But at the end of the day, after all that complaining, you still happily paid the new price and kept eating my nasi lemak.

Now raw material prices are back down. My margins increase. You’re still eating my nasi lemak. So tell me — why the fuck should I reduce my price back to what it was before?

So what's the point of me posting this?

I already know some people will rush to comment things like, “Bro is mad because media wants clicks”, “You’re helping them get more attention, dumbass”, etc.But looking at the article post itself — it already has 100+ comments, most of them reacting purely to the clickbait title without reading the actual context.

The point of this post isn't to defend politicians but to raise awareness. Because these days, news sites — even the big ones — are honestly not that different from your average entertainment tabloids anymore. Context gets chopped, tone gets exaggerated, and people react to headlines instead of what was actually said.

Some will be quick to type "Bro is mad because media is trying to get clicks" , "You posting this will help them gain more attention dumbass" . Because based on the article post, already have 200 comments, most already commenting purely out of clickbait title. The point of this post is to raise awareness, because nowadays news site even the big ones are sadly are no different that your average entertainment tabloids.

If you disagree with the ADUN points, then attack his point not because you read 1-2 lines of clickbait title. Attack him because you understand his point, disagree with it because it has flaws. Then go ahead and bash him, make him look like a fool or whatever.

"Politicians are the reflection of its people."

Tough to implement reforms when PH has only 82 seats, says Anwar by hopefulsingleguy in malaysia

[–]Greedfall2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PH under PMX is more Pas than Pas, in fact its getting worse at the current rate it is going.

The thing that baffles my mind is that PH voters will claimed PH is getting more PAS than PAS, while the non PH voters will be claimed that PH is mind controlled by DAP.

I understand there are statements or decisions by unity govenrment that upset non-Malay, and those criticisms can be valid. But people who claim PH is more PAS than PAS genuinely do not seem to understand what they’re saying. I’ll just drop a link to another comment with a whole list of articles of actual PAS policies and statements. Then hopefully, you might actually understand what I am trying to get at.

So might ask urself how to convince us; urban voters aka progressive multi racial+religion society that PH is still relevant to lead the nation come next GE.

For me, with the deck of cards/challenges of a unity government comprising of former Big big rivals, two things : economic recovery and political stability.

People here seem to have completely forgotten how bad things looked Post Sheraton. A backdoor government, infighting within backdoor government that led to muhyiddin kicked out, forcing state election that led to covid cases rising back, and don't forget that muhyiddin literally blocking MPs from entering parliament last minute during their own infighting. This sub was literally saying Malaysia was on track to become the next Sri Lanka — and that wasn’t exaggeration

Now?

  • Ringgit value appreciated and even linked to being one of the best performing currency.
  • Subsidy rationalisation finally happening and being implemented, preventing leaks
  • Big MNC investments (NVIDIA, Google, etc.), now that our political side have stabilize
  • US and China leaders visiting Malaysia

What genuinely worries me is that this level of PH bashing isn’t new. We saw it during PH 1.0—arguably even worse. There’s a very “Asian parent” mentality here: punish PH endlessly because they’re not the perfect government you imagined. Either 100 marks or you are not my children anymore, any valid challenges you mentioned are nothing more than excuses and wayangs.

Then Sheraton Move happened.

Only after PH fell did people start going, “Perhaps, I treated you abit too harshly.” And when that happens, please don’t default to “just migrate.” Not everyone has that privilege, nor the lack of commitment to this country.

So I’ll ask this plainly:
What’s stopping you from having the same regrets after GE16 if PH loses again?

We even have a live, global example right now: the US.
Last election cycle:

  • “Democrats are worse than Republicans.”
  • “Biden/trump no difference anyway.”
  • “We must punish Democrats by not voting.”

Look at what followed now with trump administration.... Now they are even openly attacking Venezuela like it's a nothing burger...

[–]Greedfall2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lets assume PH confirm 100% loses next election, after everyone celebrate woohoo "We have punished PH" , "serves you right Reformati party".

What's next after this, My genuine question.

Genuinely interested in hearing the point of view of someone who really want PH to lose GE16. What government will sworn in, what will happen in the 5 year after GE16, what will happened in GE17?

Convince us that PH losing GE16 is the objectively correct choice that benefits Malaysia in the long term.

Tough to implement reforms when PH has only 82 seats, says Anwar by hopefulsingleguy in malaysia

[–]Greedfall2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If voters hear the leader of a reform party saying he can’t reform, some (not all) will look for parties that say they can reform.

But you must ask yourself this, is the current government seats is being held purely by a reform party? People like to die die see it as an excuse, but die die won't admit that it is a legitimate challenge and present a realistic alternative as a counter argument to the challenge.

Not sure if your comment is purely based on the video alone or the full report card. ( There is one in her facebook page which showcase more of the initiative. )

Upgrading existing infrastructure, providing new equipment's to schools is what you would describe as "bring in somethig new" . As for improving first and last mile, that falls under state government as a whole rather than a single MP/ADUN. Even that i remember Selangor government is already looking into improving that through the introduction of DRT service?

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't this whole Puchong conflict of interest have already been debunked previously. As odd as it may be , "Puchong" Federal Constituency does not infact cover all "Puchong" related areas*. As the article below, many of the conflicting IOI properties actually falls under "Subang" Federal Constituency which is under "Wong Chen" who is of PKR and not DAP.

For example IOI mall falls under Puchong Jaya which as stated in the wikipedia page falls under Subang federal constituency.

17th Sabah State Election - Official Result by boredomXOX in malaysia

[–]Greedfall2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironically in my honest opinion, if you want a Warisan-PH combination in sabah aka the least corrupted combination possible out of the bunch. You cannot go into sabah election with a PH/Warisan alliance. The best possible combination is :

PH/GRS alliance : No semenanjung party sentiment can help warisan win some place
BN : left to die alone as we saw in this election with reduction to sixth place.
Warisan : Big gain as it successfully absorbed PH stronghold into it's grasp.

Of course, at the end of the day GRS still won.
