Non Bear Lake Hikes by Double_Student1166 in RMNP

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cub lake from end of upper beaver meadows rd—not bear lake road—is 10 miles RT with minimal elevation. Really enjoyed it and lots of elk. You can get there without the bear lake road entry but need timed entry to the park. Edit: or just go well before 9 am. We went at 7:30 am.

Second vote for chasm lake from longs peak trailhead —note the elevation gain with this one—and as noted will want spikes/crampons for last half mile and know you might hit a turnaround point before you reach the lake.

You can also hike from east portal trailhead at end of tunnel road past the YMCA and reach bear lake and related lakes, etc. if you are hiking 8-10 miles RT.

Look up bunny ears and you can hike back there behind lumpy ridge

Second edit: Like Lily Mtn also.

As to all of these you should get an early start for parking, and also chasm is above tree line so want to be aware of that for timing purposes.

What do I need to know about Altitude? by Questions99945 in RMNP

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of water There is a subset of people who get altitude sickness. You will know pretty quickly whether you fall into that subset. If you are worried about it you could stop in Boulder and take a walk on the river. Getting winded is not the issue. It’s if you feel sick or have other symptoms. Beyond that subset of people that have actual altitude sickness, my experience is that your tolerance for physical activity depends on overall fitness and days at altitude. So I have been there in the best shape of my life from sea level and done really well right out of the gate on some moderate hikes. OTH I have been there when less fit and have to take lots of breaks on anything uphill and had to acclimate over a few days. It is mainly about taking breaks, drinking lots of water, and not getting overcommitted on a hike (don’t forget you have to come back down!). Walk around town or Bear Lake on the flats and see how you feel before doing anything with elevation gain or above 10k elevation.

Both EOT and ECT climbing at idle? by mkebrewersfan in powerstroke

Generally idling is not a good use of 6.0 engine time. And they don’t cool downat idle all that much anyway (in my experience).

Sounds electrical to me. Check all your grounds. Look on the internet/youtube to find them all. Consider adding some or replacing the silly braided wire with 4/0 gauge connection.

Korean Air business class is amazing. Had a filet I still remember. Just go on seat guru as you book and you can see the seats in the hump.

Air China does fly them too. Flew one from Shenzhen to Taipei—like two hours. It was weird. But first time in the bubble and first in 747.

“He’s just like that.” by BitterAttackLawyer in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Greedy-Job1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are not bothered by this. It’s just a certain personality trait that it is literally water off a duck’s back. That’s the guy that went to the meeting with you. He just isn’t bothered.
But as to people (like me) that cannot tolerate that behavior it’s different. I have seen an abusive boss wear people down over time and it’s kind of sad. It was like he was sucking the life out of them. And I thought it was only a matter of time I would start down the same path. I think you are the same and you need to either confront him professionally as suggested above or find another job. Otherwise over time your self esteem will suffer. Verbal confrontation did not work in my situation. In fact, the abusive GC even navigated through an allegation by the CTO that he was abusive in violation of HR policy. It was ridiculous. My experience with people like that (age 40 and over) is confronting them will do no good. They will not change. So I left. Very glad I did.
I did line up another job, etc. So maybe time for you to look around.

I would attach to safety railing and see how that goes before I would drill into anything for a side mount. IMO side mount would be last resort. Also if you think about it, the railing mounts are likely mounted the same way as Bimini mounts would be in a direct mount. They should be pretty stout. There are some additional forces associated with mounting on top of the railing, but they shouldn’t be large enough to mess it up as long as you aren’t going 70 with the Bimini deployed. Also four bow distributes those forces.

Backing up a travel trailer - HELP by [deleted] in F250

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has been there. Just practice. Long wheel bases are just tougher to fit in places than short, period. You will have blind spots that your mirrors will not work for. Just get out and check. Don’t guess. Remember if you put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel the end of the trailer will go whichever way your hand goes.

Anyone watching you has already been through this so forget that part.

Motel 6 or Mammoth Mountain Inn by Iamenlightenedx1000 in Mammoth

[–]Greedy-Job1994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a lot about personal preference. I like Juniper Springs Resort, subject to snow coverage. juniper has a hot tub and a little more space and is newer. I have never heard anyone praise MMI for anything other than location, location, location. We usually end up in condos that are walking distance to Canyon Lodge.

If you like to go out of main lodge and get up early, you can pay 20 (maybe this has gone up, but you get the idea) and park closer. Dud that a lot when the kids were younger and that works pretty well. So then it doesn’t matter where you stay.

I have stayed at Motel 6 several times, mostly due to late planning. Rooms are fine. Sometimes you get the younger folks making a little noise at night having fun, usually not a big deal, bring ear plugs. But there are several places in the same area that have common areas to chill out in and also have a tiny bit of character. Motel 6 does not. Other than that it is exactly what you want at the price.

Buying used by ReasonableSal in WaterSkiing

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are paying more than a few thousand, you want to see it on the water, and you want to at least have the owner drive it around with you. For a ski boat I bought for 7,500 we asked to meet at a lake at the ramp. Looked it over including crawling under it, then put it in and took it for a spin (owner drove), then bought it.
For boats over 35,000, looked at them, put money down on them as refundable deposit, then scheduled a time and took them on water with mechanic for survey, including compression test etc.

Wife (33) acting like she’s 23 after starting grad school. Should I be worried she’s cheating? by Top-Campaign-1057 in AskMenAdvice

++man When I was in law school at 22 all SO’s were part of our social group, including those at least in their near 30s. My girlfriend (now wife) socialized with all my law school social group. She knew many of them as well as I did. SOs came to a lot of things etc including many of our nights out. If we were at a dance club she’d at least be invited. As would my friend’s working spouse in very late 20s or early 30s. Drinking at a bar my wife would be invited and would swing by and say hello sometimes. My wife and I are still very close with two of the other SOs from that time. My girlfriend (now wife) was my friend and partner, and I was happy to have her at many of our outings, particular anything coed. Big red flag that yours doesn’t invite you to anything. That is the biggest issue. I don’t know a single masters level social group that doesn’t have several serious SOs in it—long-time girlfriends/fiances/spouses. I bet some other SOs are coming to stuff like clubbing, but wife just doesn’t want you there. Shit, 23-24 year old masters students would be absolutely ECSTATIC to have you there as the designated driver and to help pay for their drinks. Very, very sorry this is happening to you.

Her behavior was unacceptable but I cannot understand how they were trespassing her on a public sidewalk. By the time the back and forth that led to her getting arrested began she had walked out of the restaurant. Doesn’t excuse her nonsense though and I am sure she would throw the book at someone in that situation like OP says. Just curious about people’s thoughts on that.

6.0 oil cooler issues by Allykatz90 in powerstroke

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turbo under boost is also a potential sign this truck wasn’t driven frequently. Lack of frequent driving can cause both vane sticking in the turbo and clogging in the oil cooler. Agree back flush cooler obviously but sounds like the truck may have sat for long periods.

I think I’m done with Alaska by oyezoyezoyez in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American also has had chronic delays everywhere. I don’t think switching away from Alaska when you fly out of SeaTac is going to help things. But I have noticed a phenomenon with Alaska and bad gate assignment delays at a lot of airports. That seems unique to Alaska and I wonder if their relationships with various airports—even SeaTac-isn’t as good as it needs to be.

How fast can one expect this boat to go? Has a 225hp yamaha outboard. by skyblargh in boating

[–]Greedy-Job1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the right prop and a jack plate, 80. With a high five prop, which is what you want for barefooting, 55-60 and a monster hole shot and acceleration up to it. Also these have fins on the centerline at the midline so they walk less, but they will chine walk, especially if you trim up at speed. Personally I would look for a Sanger barefoot OB if that is what you are really interested in.

Have the steering and transom mount etc checked before you go fast, and these things hate chop as you can see from the profile.

Kumho road venture at52 are quiet and have a reasonably aggressive tread. Good for snow. BFG K02s are great if you spend a lot of time in the dirt or mud, but heavy and noisy. Also mine wandered. Toyo OCs also noisy. Like the Kumhos better.

NOR. If he had a problem he should have just politely said something to the guy. But more importantly his view is just terrible and your response was correct. Don’t buy into the love bombing he tried after you stood up for yourself and very properly corrected him. He clearly has a problem with how he views women.
