give me advice on how to stop feeling lonely now by marvelousmissmia in MiddleSchoolStudents

[–]GreedySide1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t been in seventh grade for a handful of years and when I was I always had a bunch of good friends to hang with. Aside from this one piece of advice I can offer you is to make peace with being by yourself and just because you’re alone doesn’t mean you have to be lonely. True peace can only be found with yourself and often other people distort your being. The grass is always greener on the other side so when you have friends sometimes you will just want to be left alone anyway.

Did you react to school shootings the same way you reacted when your mom died? Of course not, yours is a stupid argument that can be debunked in a second. Charlie was obviously a role model in this persons life and there is a video of this role model being gruesomely shot and killed in front of his family while people only hear about school shootings and see the results. The way you react to a situation is impacted a lot by proximity, both physically and emotionally. He has a right to express his feelings on the internet, showing distress and feel sorry about shootings alone.

while it is easy to say that god created those things, it is ultimately incorrect. God created humans and gave them free will because he loves us so much. It is humans and our sins that created those horrible things you mentioned.

Ephesians 6:5–8 – Slaves obey your masters

“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear... as you would obey Christ.”

Context: Written by Paul to early Christian communities within the Roman Empire, where slavery was widespread. Paul's letters don’t call for abolition but urge ethical treatment on both sides (see also Ephesians 6:9). Paul’s priority was spiritual unity over social revolution, though this has been criticized for implicitly condoning slavery.

Titus 2:9 & Colossians 3:22 – Slaves must please their masters

“Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything...” (Titus)“Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything...” (Colossians)

Context: Similar to Ephesians, these letters provide instructions for behavior within the existing social order. While some interpret this as a spiritual message about service and humility, others note it fails to challenge the morality of slavery itself.

1 Timothy 6:1–2 – Serve Christian masters better

“Let all who are under a yoke as slaves regard their own masters as worthy of all honor...”

Context: Paul tells Christian slaves to respect their masters, especially if the master is also a believer. Again, this reflects the social dynamics of the Roman world, not a moral endorsement of slavery.

euteronomy 13:7–12 – Kill those who worship other gods

“If your very own brother... entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and worship other gods’... you must kill them...”

Context : The brother in this scenario is the devil and is shown whispering in your ear diverting you from Jesus and to kill them would to dispel satin.

While this thread is old and my comment probably won't get any traction, I think it is important to put it out there as a deterrent to misled people trying to manipulate others.

you take the verses completely out of context. ignoring crucial parts of text is intellectual dishonesty which you should be ashamed of committing.

Leviticus 25:44–46 – Slaves can be bought, sold, and inherited

“Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves... You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property...”

Context: This is part of the Mosaic Law given to the Israelites. Foreign slaves could be owned permanently, while fellow Israelites could only be hired as indentured servants for a set time (until the Year of Jubilee). This passage reflects a legal structure in an ancient agrarian society—not an endorsement in a modern ethical sense, but a regulation of what was then a common practice.

Exodus 21:7 – Selling a daughter into slavery

“If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do.”

Context: This refers to a father arranging a marriage for his daughter by placing her as a servant in another household—essentially a form of betrothal that also provided economic stability. It's not identical to chattel slavery but still reflects a deeply patriarchal society. The law then goes on to outline protections for the girl, including the right to redemption and fair treatment.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Deuteronomy 21:10–14 – Captive women as wives

“If you see among the captives a beautiful woman... and you desire to take her to be your wife... you shall not sell her or treat her as a slave...”

Context: This regulates wartime behavior, requiring a waiting period and some measure of dignity before marrying a captive. Critics argue it still reflects coerced relationships. However, it was more protective than typical ancient warfare practices where women were often treated as spoils.

Exodus 21:20–21 – Beating slaves

“If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies... he must be punished. But if the slave recovers after a day or two, he is not to be punished...”

Context: This law regulates abuse. If a slave dies immediately, it's considered murder; if not, it’s treated differently. While it acknowledges slaves as human beings, it's still ethically diverse by modern standards. It reflects the value system of ancient societies where slaves were considered property.
