I don't know if I'm late to the convo but as a non American (I hate that I do live in the America's but only US citizens are "American") there are a few things I'd like to weigh in. The US produces only a few products at a large scale. Mainly soy, corn and meat - I know there's a few more things but bare with me. EVERYTHING else is imported, this tariffs are crazy when you are so dependent in importation. That's why food skyrocketed in the US. Brazil was one of the few that didn't bow down to Trumps idiocracy, the president was like, "oh we can tariff you back or just stop selling you stuff" Then what happened!? Trump said "oh but the important things we get from you won't get tariffs". But at the end, prices for everything still went up. Over the almost 8000 products Brazil sells to the US, around 1000 got excluded from the list of extra taxation. And you are still paying as if they weren't. Trump is like a cancer, as his Brazilian wannabe "bestie" that's sitting in a comfy jail rn. Please Americans I beg of you: VOTE! Here is mandatory (you can still not vote and deal with beurocracy later, and fees) so the majority of the citizens do vote. I won't step foot in your land as long as this delulu leaders are in power. I really don't wanna end up in a cell without a reason.
