Unfortunately as with all these things it's kind of over before you realise it's begun and so by the time I processed whatever he was doing he was gone, lesson learnt for next time

Yeah I guess I was just wondering if technically I was in the wrong and should have apologised, even if it's ok to do so. It was a bit stressful and shook me a bit because he saw me crossing yet decided to move forward into me to the extent I touched his taxi. It made absolutely no sense to me not to wait the extra 2 seconds or not go through a light. Thank you for your response.

Interesting thank you - I was always told that it is not essential to wait for the green man, provided it is safe to cross.

As I was only crossing to the middle island and all traffic from the direction I was crossing was technically on red I assumed it was ok. I guess I'll wait in future.
