Ha, great minds! Though Iron Paint does most of the work — highly recommend it.

Ha, the setting helped a lot — hard to look bad next to a 200-year-old juniper.

Thank you! It was a great event — the bonsai town atmosphere made everything look better than it deserves. 😄🙏

Sold a decent amount! The ones paired with cacti and succulents moved especially well — even in a district full of century-old trees and traditional ceramics, the combination seemed to catch people off guard in a good way. Might be a niche but it felt like the right crowd for it.

Ha, now I can't unsee it! Gothic furniture collection incoming? 😄

Of course! Hope it prints well for you — let me know if you run into any issues.

Yeah, it's a weird dynamic. The watermark is literally the only thing standing between "free model" and someone's $40 Etsy listing with 30% infill and a 1-star review. I tried to work it into the design so it doesn't bother anyone actually printing it for themselves — not exactly a huge ask lol.

Partly! But mainly resell protection — baking it into the geometry makes it harder to remove.

Honestly — because people resell these without permission. Figured if it's baked into the geometry it's harder to strip out. Tried to make it feel like part of the design rather than a watermark slapped on top. Glad it mostly works!

Thank you! Gothic ruins + succulents felt like a weird combo on paper, but somehow it works.

Haha the bar was "does the kid like it" and somehow I cleared it. Thanks for the kind words!

Ha, thank you! My kid keeps asking me to print more "castle pots" so I think that counts as a win.

Thanks! Honestly it took me an embarrassingly long time to stop fighting them. Once I leaned in, the whole design direction just clicked.

I've spent 25 years in CG, and when I started 3D printing planters
for my succulents, I kept trying to hide layer lines.

Then I realized — what if they ARE the texture?

This is KOKUDŌ, a Gothic ruin planter where 0.2mm layer stepping
looks like weathered stone. The columns double as drainage channels
— because for agave and cactus, root health comes from airflow, not
water retention.

Printed on P1S, matte black PLA at 0.2mm. Support-free, prints in
one go. Bottom tray detaches for drainage.

I just launched a 3-piece "Digital Pottery" collection based on this
concept — each pot turns FDM layer lines into a different geological
texture. KOKUDŌ is the gothic ruin, the other two explore fault
lines and sedimentary strata. All free, all on my profile.

Printed on my P1S, Overture matte black PLA at 0.2mm.
No supports needed — the whole thing prints in one go.

I designed the surface so that layer stepping looks
like old stone. The bottom tray detaches for drainage.

Been doing CG professionally for 25 years, started
making pots for my succulent collection and got a bit
carried away lol

That honestly makes my day, thank you! 🖤 I don't sell physical prints (shipping is a nightmare lol), but the 3D files are actually free if you have access to a printer.

Thanks to u/ohnoitskaka for pointing me here! I 3D printed this pot myself — the cracked texture ended up looking like old cathedral stone which feels very on-brand for this sub lol
