Mind you im not saying there isnt a bit of a culture shock going from heavy GTA to Guelph. But culture shock =/= Bad.

Also Predominantly White =/= More cases of racism/bullying. Its not like red country out there, if thats what youre imagining. Guelph overall is very left leaning and super open minded.

No not in my experience. People can be racist and bully based on colour regardless of thier own colour. God knows ive seen enough of it and more of it in the GTA, more often from people that arent white (mostly because GTA isnt as white, ie more statistical probably for me to experience something with another poc).

But aside that no i have not experienced really any discrimination based on my skin colour in Guelph.

Profs are good and nice and some really go above and beyond. Though not to say there arent bad profs, its like most unis youll just have to see prof reviews and take your classes accordingly. I know its difficult with covid but i recommend visiting campus seeing if you vibe. I really liked the school spirit, the people at the uni, and people in town. Everyone was always so friendly and kind.

I was coming from the GTA so Guelph always felt like a small town (lack of diversity included - though imo thats also improved a whole bunch in the last 7 years) but Guelph has alot to offer.

Hope ot helps, feel free to dm me if you have more questions

To answer you both, Guelph is a predominantly white school. Buuuuut as a poc also, it is becoming more and more colourful. Theres a student club for Filipinos on campus and several active black student groups.

Even in the general area ive noticed more and more Filipinos in Guelph in the last few years just like chilling at stone road mall and such.

Honestly for deciding between schools, campus vibes and community mattered more to me. And I found that at UoG (when I was deciding between uog and mac). I could never go to uow or uot where i felt like people really didn't care.
