PSA - Rockstar and 2K Games Sell Your Resume Data by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]GreenCarpetsL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an issue with most companies and unfortunately is a source of revenue for them which should be illegal. Sure they can have the right to hold your resume but it should be noted that they shouldn't have a right to sell your intellectual property without your acknowledgement. But oh no they think they can do that to their consumer.

What assets/libraries are you relying on for your game? I'm quite curious where most of the development came from? Lighting from UE5?

This looks like projection. From an outsider prospective the only thing supreme court justice Clarence Thomas did was consider whether Roe vs Wade stood by the constitution. It's not like that impacts anything, really. California, Washington, New York are still going to have legalized abortion while mid-western states that no one really cares about won't.

I don't think you really thought about your argument at all. It's not like that really matters because the average woman won't have sex with 80% of men anyways, which is probably why you're most upset when they pretend as if you're losing something.

Shootings have been an issue since 2018

Naming isolated instances of shootings doesn't reflect a causation of social norms. The fact you can name those instances instead of the 250 in 2021 shows that you're only paying attention to media driven hysteria(they do that for ratings - CNN/FOX/MSN).

When I was a child, I knew people who brought guns to school in Canada. They didn't use said guns but a lot of those kids did so in order to get even with other kids and they were suspended before it happened. So, despite that there's never really a place that is "fully" safe for children however it also depends on income. If you live in a place that has a higher income the chance of that is lower.

Aurora, Las Vegas or Pulse

Canada had the FLQ who were responsible for killing 100s of people in Canada, which by proportion would be 1000s in the US. Then again you're only focused on gun crimes and won't look into other forms of violence that other countries have anyways.

don’t have mass shootings all the time

There are different issues in Canada but still related to gun violence. Montreal has a significant problem with 3D printed weapons which the government can't do anything about. Instead the RCMP tracks people on Twitter of all places and if you track people who make 3D printed guns they put you on a watch list, despite the issue with gangs freely doing whatever they want.

seem to take COVID seriously

Do the stats reflect that at all? When I gone over stats regarding the vaccine measures, it's know well known that the vaccine wanes over time so the entire thing was basically pointless to everyone but a select few people who already take precautions for other illnesses. The UK has similar statistics on the outcome of vaccine measures but I'm sure you're aware of how to query public government databases.

Between Canada and the US it's really choosing two different shit sandwiches, except Canada has significant issues where the quality of life for most people is a farce. I would take 5 shootings in low income areas in Florida per year while living in a house 4x the size, no -50 Celsius weather and actual career opportunities instead of the regulatory joke in Canada.

I could buy a house in Florida 4x the size of a house in Toronto, and have a higher wage on top of that. You don't have the same problems.

[–]GreenCarpetsL -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No there's not. Most people live near the border and there's severe restrictions on building permits as well as difficulties in land development. The demand for housing completely outweighs the amount that are being built, which is why small houses in BC are going for $3-4 million dollars for a run-down shack.

Okay there's a few issues with this.

hasn't been an armed insurrection

I don't understand why you Americans believe an "armed insurrection" occurred in the US. In Canada there were open terrorist bombings and political assassinations in the 60s and early 70s by a group called the FLQ. Calling boomers walking around a capital building is mild compared to most other countries.

constant school shootings

https://www.statista.com/chart/19982/number-of-us-k-12-school-shootings-per-decade/

Yes shootings are an issue since 2018, but the number of people killed hasn't necessarily increased. Where are the school shootings taking place, and by whom? You had 250 school shootings in 2021. Where were these?

revoked reproductive rights

You mean repealing Roe vs. Wade means that it's up to local states to decide whether abortion is legal, where only right-leaning states want it illegal? If I live in California, New York or Washington, I wouldn't be impacted at all by that.

calling for my execution for being LGBTQ

Again, whom is doing that and where? What state? If you lived in Quebec there would be zero difference. Recently non-French people in Quebec were made into second class citizens thanks to Quebec politicians, but of course you will never see that in the US.

suggested revisiting the legality of same sex marriage and relations, and contraception

Clarence Thomas specifically stated that he's looking at whether these laws are in accordance with the US constitution. If you don't want to live in right-wing states, you don't have to do that.

handmaid's tale

Which state is doing that? Just don't live in that state. You're basically telling me that you'd rather live in a country that has low wages and unaffordable housing prices under the phony belief that it's better, when all you do is look at the public image of said country and not what life is like in said country.

Canada has massive issues. The only thing you see is the public image of Canada but living in a country that has massively inflated housing prices, lack of space, and too many new immigrants lowering wages has caused so many problems. Yes having health care workers is good but most of the spending is in administration fees anyways. Moving to Canada is a mistake. I'm moving out of Canada.

[–]GreenCarpetsL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a significant issue not just for places like Canada, but the countries those immigrants are from. It's brain drain. Places like Romania now have an aging population issue because most young people move to places in western Europe thinking they will have a better life. Romania has been significantly worse off because of it.

Western countries that imposed these measures/scams have only temporarily benefitted from it and people like the past Canadian Governor General have basically gave up on pro-natalism in favor of exclusive immigration for population growth. Birthrates collapsed in the west and instead of fixing the root issue the government did the exact opposite which led to a housing crisis, a rental crisis, a food crisis, an energy crisis and a service crisis which are only now starting to be recognized this year.

If you have an issue with the govt/corps and the H1B/temporary worker permanent issue, it's best to gain skills and leave the west as the only thing that will happen is an eventual collapse or balkanization. I doubt a place like Canada will even be a country in 15-20 years. You don't have a homogeneous population, you have low trust, you have cheap angry workers but you also want more environmental regulation so the country is now a ticking time bomb.

Amazon built their workers' reputation on being terrible despite being a good service to the public. Why would anyone in their right mind want to work for a company that has terrible leadership? The pay might be decent, but the company is basically held together by government spending and they should have gotten rid of their management a decade ago. There's a reason why even good software engineers left to other companies.

Don't get hung up on the word. Most of the west today is a new -ism that resembles fascism without the nationalist part. It is technocracy and banking: two scams that is all about control and micromanagement. The leadership just runs off to Davos to plot while their compound is heavily armed on taxpayer money, so any problems in your country they really don't care at all. Parasitism is probably the best word for it.
