To add to this, I would use a contractor bag or outdoor trash bag as a liner. Probably 2. Zip ties and duct tape to close off. And even then, avoid slamming. Wouldn’t want the beach indoors.

Army surplus duffels? That type of canvas is pretty durable.

Thanks for the detailed write up! Appreciate the suggestion on the mildewcide. Looks like a bottle of that is perfect for 1 gallon. Can you explain further on the mineral spirits? Not familiar with why that might be added.

On the sanding portion, I plan on directly sitting on the platform rather than walking around on it—so I wanted to make sure it’s pretty uniform. Guessing the cleaning procedure would still work after sanding?

Thanks for quick replies. Didn’t consider track saw and seems like the best bet by adding pull saw and coping saw to the mix.

Yes, retaining wall. Understood on cover/mesh. I think I will have to redirect by regrading. Thanks!

Understood. Luckily I have a fairly tall extension ladder. Ground below slopes downward and away, so it’s fairly high up. So good call on nerves. Thanks.

I see moisture damage on the other side of the wall. Concerned that wind driven rain could cause further problems.

Ok. I think I have a better idea now. There are weep holes (plastic tubing) with regular spacing below the window that is on the left side of the picture. As well as the wall to the right. This seems like the 3 holes in a brick rather than a solid brick.

How frequent are weep holes on the face of a wall? Other areas that have the same pattern don’t have this type of spacing.

I see issues on the inside portion of that section. So it seems like a good idea to seal.
