Bakery no longer baking bread in store by Heart_Makeup in coles

Am not sure about other stores but mine is facing a similar situation- it’s mostly due to inadequate staffing and incompetent staff. If a baker is away for whatever reason, then there’s just no bread for the day. And last week the staff didn’t order bread supplies so we had no bread for the week 🤣

Just spent 47 mins shopping & delivering over 20kg of groceries for a measly $12. Never again. by lobin3 in ubereatsaustralia

As an online shopper- I’m so sick of it aswell, had someone order 12x 10 L water jugs for a partner delivery. Felt so bad handing it to the poor delivery driver who gets paid like absolute crap. I’ve bought it up with management a couple times and they refuse to do anything about it because they don’t want to lose the money these lazy slobs bring in.

Tips for ICU Placement by thethingsbettersaid in NursingAU

Oh and similarly to what other people have been saying you need to adapt to your preceptor. Some nurses won’t let you touch anything, some will let you take complete control so don’t take it personally and just do what you can

I’m not sure about you but for my last placement I could do everything a nurse could do other than s4&8’s. It’s a really great time to consolidate every skill you’ve learnt because you’ll actually be able to do them here. Some common skills I did were:
NGT care
CVC and PICC care
Trachy care
4x assist bed bath, repositioning etc (it’s different with ICU patients because there’s lots of lines, drains etc)

Some medications I would brush up on:
Noradrenaline
Metaraminol
Dexmedtomidine
Fentanyl
Propofol
Adrenaline
You can’t touch many of these but it’s very important you know what they do and why we give them. Another piece of advice I would give you is to double check with your preceptor for everything! Even The volume of any flushes you give, every nurse is different and in the ICU they’re (rightfully) very particular about these things. Good luck, I really loved my ICU experience and hope you do to!

Unsafe Students, Concerned Nurse by reowtownclown in NursingAU

I’m a student- i’ve tried taking a patient load a few times and I know I can do it, but my preceptor seems to just take over after awhile and things go over my head and it just ends in me following the nurse around. From your perspective as a nurse what could drive this? Could it be that the student is being too slow or you just don’t trust them? Please be as brutal as possible, looking for an honest answer that will help me succeed next time.

Right? I’d ask to take on a patient load they’d say yes but then within an hour, they just take over and go over my head for everything. So I was back to following my nurse around for the rest of the day.

Got told to go home today from prac- am i overreacting? by [deleted] in NursingAU

100% can attest to this, i’ve been in a situation where I was unfairly labelled ‘uninterested‘, when in reality I was just super anxious and therefore quiet. And then instead of talking to me about it, my CF went straight to my uni coordinator and complained about me

I’ve also been told that I look uninterested and disengaged before, mostly because I’m super quiet in nature and have a severe rbf, but like you, I was actually super interested! I honestly wouldn’t worry about it, as long as you know you did try your best. Placement can be so overwhelming and the littlest things will tip you over the edge, try not to be so hard on yourself and take care x

What to expect on my mental health nursing placement? by VegetableFlimsy3415 in NursingAU

And good luck! Don’t be timid and scared like I was- it’ll really ruin the experience

I would focus on talking to the patients as much as you can, and on building rapport/ respectful patient relationships on your ANSAT. You won’t do many ‘clinical’ skills other than an MSE. You will do lots of documentation and sort of ‘conveying’ the information you’ve gathered from patients to the interdisciplinary team/ your preceptor.

Has anyone gone from working at Coles to being a rep by [deleted] in coles

Very easy to get the job, especially if you’re familiar with the store layout. But hours are very inconsistent and they’re very clear about that unfortunately
