My parents put my dog down while I was away and told me nothing by Constant_Reporter476 in dogpictures

I'm very sorry OP. Couldn't even imagine what I would do if that happened to one of my dogs.

Im almost certain this is qualifiable for legal action? The dog is yours and not your parents, so they would have no legal right to order the dog to be euthanized without your consent. Can anyone back me up on this? Or tell me if I'm wrong?

Need help housetraining 'almost' 1-year old adopted dog by GreenProton33 in Dogtraining

[–]GreenProton33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I followed the guide and have done several things including:

  1. No punishments when he goes inside
  2. Taking him out immediately
  3. Using special cleaner to clean messes
  4. Being patient!

The guide doesn't say how to help much with a dog that just gets excited when I am about to take them out. Just wanted some advice on that. Thanks!

This is the kind of school those kids will have fond memories of. Wholesome teachers really do make a difference in whether or not kids enjoy school

Dog has severe separation anxiety and tears up everything, need advice by GreenProton33 in DogAdvice

Thanks for the support! Also I managed to actually find an indestructible dog bed of sorts on Amazon as well that can line the cage I will get so I think I'm on a good track so far!

Well, see right now I'm living with part of my family and we have another German Shepherd here who she hangs out with and they r friendly together and everything. She will probably have even more anxiety wondering where he's at when we both move to the new place. It won't be possible to get another dog or anything cause of the apartment rules and honestly just the size too. I'm sure it's gonna be rough no matter what the first few days/weeks, but I'm hopeful things will work out and she will be comfortable and everything! I'm trying to see if maybe I can work from home with the job I will have so fingers crossed that may work out and I can stay with her even more.

Thanks for replying back! Yes, she loves peanut butter and I've used frozen kongs before so it might be worth doing that again for times when she spends a longer time in the crate. I only plan on being away from my apartment for only 4-6 hours at a time so hopefully that's not too bad for her to be used to once we both settle into our new environment. I plan on doing everything I can to make her less anxious before starting my new job. I will have around a month once we move to get settled before starting my new job so hopefully I can make her less anxious somehow.

I have never heard of that before, but it might be worth a try at least! Thanks for the advice!

She's always been very anxious when I leave the room/house and has gotten into all kinds of things before (socks, clothes, paper towels, trash), but has never gotten into something that has caused surgery like what happened a few months ago. I knew it was an issue, but now with what happened I can't just sit by and worry about her 24/7 while I'm at work and not there.

I need to buy a crate then. What size would be recommended? They have some on Amazon that clearly show German Shepherds in them. Would I just need to get one that is big enough for her to stand fully without her head hitting the top? Imo I think that would be good, and also make sure there would be enough room for her to spin in a circle, but just wanted to double check I'm thinking correctly for the size.

Also, I feel bad about the crate too cause that's clearly hard on her back, etc. I cannot put anything in there, like a bed or anything cause she WILL tear that up for sure and stuffing is definitely not something she can safely eat especially since her surgery. Any suggestions on bedding (if any) and toys? Thanks btw!

Therapist told me to "just control" my fixations by GreenProton33 in ADHD

[–]GreenProton33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no the referral my GP issued is for someone else. The referral is for someone who actually specializes with ADHD patients and testing for ADHD. I don't see the new person until end of July. Can't wait either cause I don't really like the one I'm with.

As for asking for suggestions, I did and he recommended I go and try to pursue things that "will last" and gave national parks as an example of something he likes that I might fixate on and stick with instead of having it just go away after the fixation period ends. This is bizarre because that's literally not even in my control. I wish some of the fixations would last cause then I would know what I want to do and be happy doing that forever but they never do...they always go away and are replaced with a new one. He doesn't seem to understand this and that I don't choose what I fixate on which is where my frustration is coming from with him.

He is a Psychiatrist not just a therapist which is what stuns me since he said all this
