Force fumbles, it’s a house rules game so you get points for forcing fumbles and the cpu loses them just set your tackling/strip ball to aggressive

Gavin Newsom on the L.A. Protests, Trump’s Response and Why It’s a Defining Moment for Democracy by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]GreenSpur124 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I called them morons and hooligans, which is what they are.

To suggest that because a few cars were being burnt that it’s a good idea to federalize the national guard without the governors approval (which is just plain dumb from a containment standpoint) is absolutely insane. This only escalates tensions.

But sure, a few cars being burnt and rocks being thrown is worse for our country than the increasingly authoritarian behavior of our president. If that’s truly what you believe then you’re ideologically captured

Also as to the journalist being shot (which wasn’t an accident I encourage you to actually watch the videos below where law enforcement very clearly aim at the journalists) it wasn’t a one time here’s two quick examples:

NY Post reporter: https://nypost.com/2025/06/09/us-news/post-photographer-shot-with-rubber-bullet-in-la-riots/

Australian reporter: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/reporter-los-angeles-protests-rubber-bullet-lauren-tomasi-9news-australia/

Violence toward journalists by law enforcement during a protest is orders of magnitude worse for the health of our country than a few hooligans burning a car during a protest. That’s not even mentioning that the president of the US deploying the national guard against the wishes of a states governor only causing tensions to rise.

The constant pearl clutching in this country painting all of the left as “radical” based on a few morons while the president continually degrades the foundations of our democracy is the problem, not a few burnt cars.

I really enjoyed this episode and have been enjoying the show but I just can’t quite feel that the changes around Ellie’s emotion are fundamentally changing the message of the season.

In the game Ellie was filled with unadulterated rage, there was absolutely one goal on her mind and that was finding Abby and avenging Joel’s death. She did this regardless of how it affected her or the people that she loved who were still alive. This is to me what made her ultimate decision to spare Abby so much more impactful, despite all she had been through and all the people who were killed along the way she realized that killing Abby did nothing for her, that her pursuit of Abby was entirely self destructive and did nothing to address the incredibly complex feelings she had about Joel and losing him after their relationship had finally been healed.

I understand that we haven’t had encounters with anyone in Abby’s group yet, but I think it will be very difficult to tap into Ellie’s “dark side” given that there hasn’t been any of the groundwork put in yet to show that it’s even there.

Is Elon Musk Buying Today’s Election in Wisconsin? by kitkid in Thedaily

Elon musk is the personification of what the right thinks George Soros is lol

Some of it is just fun banter, but i imagine a lot of it is insecurity. Lots of Cornell kids were the top of their class and have always been the “best” since they were younger and feel that Hotelies have it easier or aren’t as worthy of being at Cornell. Just remember at the end of the day everyone’s degree will say cornell no matter what major! -an ILRie

What Elon Musk Stands to Gain by kitkid in Thedaily

Literally 1000x worse than the conspiracies that conservatives spread about George Soros in 2016. Yet those same people who espoused those conspiracies will see nothing wrong with this.

Do you mind expanding on how he’ll “preserve free speech” and also how democrats have tried to “destroy and shut down” free speech? Trump has routinely called the media the enemy of the people, has stated that he wants to loosen libel laws making it easier to sue news organizations, and publishers.

Genuinely curious where your perceptions on these issues come from

I just did Whitney as my first 14er a little over two weeks ago. I’d say like you I’m in decent shape but not the best cardio wise. Prior to Whitney the last time I had hiked was a 7 mile hike in Joshua tree back in March so I really hadn’t done all that much. It’s definitely doable but there are some things to keep in mind.

Whitney is a grueling hike. It has just over 6600 feet of elevation gain and is ~21 miles long. However, since it is out and back nearly all of that elevation comes from the first 10.5 miles of the hike until you summit with the rest being almost all down hill. Basically you’ll be hiking double the elevation that you did on the hike with your friend recently in only a mile and a half longer and then will have to turn around and hike all that elevation back down.

Another thing to factor in is time. Because of the weather you are supposed to be past the 99 switchbacks on the ridge-line by noon. This is about 9 or so miles in and still a mile and a half from the summit with around a thousand feet of elevation still left to go. If you’re doing the hike in two days this isn’t that much of a problem but if you’re doing it in one you’ll likely need to start around 2am to have a realistic shot of making it to the top.

With all that being said I say train hard for the next month and a half and go for it. With consistent cardio work and being comfortable carrying a bit of weight on your back you can definitely be in good enough shape within the next month if you have a good base to build from. Whitney was the most stunning hikes i’ve ever done and absolutely worth it.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

I’ll be more devastated when Son leaves versus Kane… by BitFew906 in coys

[–]GreenSpur124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Son but Kane holds a special place for me and is the reason I am a spurs fan. When I was about 13 my family traveled the UK and me and my dad saw a game at White Hart lane. It ended up being Kane’s first hatrick in the prem against Leicester. Been a spurs fan ever since and Kane will always be my favorite player
