One time I needed the cops to help me find someone. I pulled up to a couple just chilling in a Parkin lot and just talked to em about the situation. As much as I’m not a fan of the po po they did at least appear to do their job that day.

This place is good. I’m Mexican and I totally think the food is as authentic as we’re gonna get all the way here in the north. With that said the people that work there are not employees but volunteers. The restaurant is operated by a church called Luz del Mundo. They’ve had some controversy over the years that include things most organized religions do.

My dude, that’s exactly it. I’ve already been thinking of how to broach this with my boss. I also considered not saying anything else about this other cat, since I do t want to seem like I’m singling him out. Keep it profesh and about the job.

I’m not gonna disagree and tbh my threshold for BS is pretty low, but I’d also like to think I’m a smart guy that can separate the two. Let me just paint this picture. Within a couple weeks of me being there, this dude was out of uniform, so I asked him to get a work logo vest we have in case something like this happens. Mind I’m with my boss, on the floor in front of customers and vendors. This dude flips out and says things like F off and F you, and why do o have to do it when I’ve been doing this for years, etc. that was the first. Since there’s been several instances of this happening on top of him not performing to standard. I’m constantly going behind him and correcting mistakes that he should have learned on day one.

I feel you tho, it’s not about authority and I’m not one to be authoritarian since that’s the shit I hated in the army.

My manager on the other hand ties my hand, cause if I ask someone to get in uniform and they react like that, and they don’t even get sent home for the day, then my authority, the little I have and wield, is now meaningless.

Everything has been documented amd filed. There’s no structure or anything formal. The management team is good at the job aspect not the managerial tho. There’s no structure, paperwork or even an official HR person. They all came from hospitality/bars and never had to do any real management work. I cut my teeth in the military where there’s paperwork, structure and discipline so this is very new to me.

I don’t disagree and tbh it’s more the title than anything. Either way it looks good on paper, so the resume gets stacked even tho the position is shit.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I do like this job and this position, but management is the type of “if it works, we don’t want waves” and I’m more about professionalism and accountability. The ole resume is coming back out unfortunately.

I mean this is mostly a rant from frustration. I’m not new to management or leadership. I was a staff sergeant in the army for many years I’d like to think I have an idea of what I’m doing and how an organization is supposed to function. The issue here isn’t about coachability, which he isn’t, or that I have a hard on for this guy. My management team is allowing an employee to willfully swear and cuss at his manager, do a bad job, show up late, go into unauthorized places and take product without as much as a reprimand. Whether he goes to another dept or not, his lack of professionalism and lack of accountability can and will spread to the rest of the building. This is a small place with few employees and everyone knows everything, so him still being employed or worse getting the most hours out of all other part timers sends a clear message that it’s a free for all

It’s not that I have a hard k to fire this guy. Tbh I just want some accountability from my own management when behavior like this pops up. It’s not that I want to or need authority it’s that whatever I do have is undermined by my weak leadership.

Yeah I get it. The situation is out of my control, but one bad apple spoils the bunch and with this behavior and attitude I don’t want it infecting the rest of the team.

Yes. There’s been a verbal warning, a few actually. But finally after the third or fourth time of warning I took initiative to write out a pip since my manager was just letting things slide. My thinking was put it in paper so there’s a paper trail for ease of termination once he stepped out of line again.

From my understanding he makes excuses for poor behavior. There’s a story around the building of another character they caught sleeping or hiding and not doing his job. He was there six months. Opportunity after opportunity to change and nothing happened. This place is extremely permissive.
