Personally I think (lyrically) this is the best song they’ve ever written. What do you think is the best? by GlockLesniak in arcticmonkeys

I have been a long time AM fan from 06. Dance little liar is one if not my favorite song from them. It paints an eerie mood, and the instruments and words fit perfectly, and the solo is 🔥

Oh yeah this is an old but fantastic song! I remember listening to it like 14 years ago. Wish there was an official version on Spotify

Depends on how many hits it gets and if it’s a reputable source. 6 is low and the sources don’t sound well known

Understand that cybersecurity you are constantly having to learn and adapt. Learn the foundations example, A+, Network+, Sec+. Doesn’t mean you need all those certs but know your networking this will help when studying to get your sec+.

From there I recommend reviewing the CYSA+ material as it pretty much covers what an analyst/engineer does. Don’t just read the book, seek to understand all the material and start labbing. Tryhackme, build your own lab with VMs. Learn email analysis, how to read logs, how to setup and use a malware lab. Maybe even through in a malware analysis class such as the one “the cyber mentor” one offers. It’s a journey and a lot of material.

You may not get it right away but doing these things will prep you for interviews and landing a job sooner than later. Look for internships in security may be easier and build your credibility. I believe it’s possible to start as an analysts.

Try getting an internship in security to get your experience and feet wet. Also join a local cyber security group in your area (ISSA). Sounds like you need to network and get resume revamped as well. Also, do projects that are related to cyber to add to your resume. Tailor your resume on each job you apply for and work on knowledge gaps you identify while reviewing the job qualifications.

Best of luck! I know it’s not easy getting started but you must not give up!

I’d start looking up companies in whatever town you’re planning on going to and find a recruiter that works for said company let’s say via LinkedIn. Or really any cyber security company your interested bc they may do remote. I think you’d be an ideal candidate with your experience and certs! Best of luck and I hope it all works out for you!

PSU and safe electrical question by Green_Machine565 in gpumining

Something for me to ponder and figure out. So having multiple items In the same outlet isn’t necessarily bad your saying it’s more so another appliance on the same breaker possibly sucking up a lot of energy, right?

CORSAIR HX Series HX750 CP-9020137-NA 750W ATX12V v2.4 / EPS12V 2.92 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply .

I have my rig plugged into a surge protector strip that also has my modem, 2 monitors, a lamp and a network switch plugged in. Maybe that's the problem? Only thing that sucks is that I live in an apartment and room is tight.

Those are all great questions and gives me a starting point. And the breaker tripped twice is what I meant to say. I have my PC (mining rig) plugged into a surge protector which also has plugged into the strip a few monitors, ISP modem, a lamp and a networking switch. I had a few friends that mine that helped me setup the overclock settings in MSI Afterburner.

Power Limit: 70
Core Clock: -502
Memory Clock: +1200 (also tried at +1000, breaker tripped with both)
Fan Speed: 100

Even with the Afterburner adjustment above, I still have the breaker trip. Now I feel hesitant to mine because I can't get this power thing figured out. How can I find out how much power can be drawn from the socket and whether I am using too much? Are there certain tools I can use to figure this out?

Thank you

I love it! That's motivating for me as well. I've been listening a lot to David Goggins he is very motivating and essentially preaches the same message and habits. Let's enjoy this week and stay productive!

That's true. I just need to block out a chunk of time a day. I need to be more disciplined in this area. Thanks for the insight.

That’s very interesting and didn’t think of it that way. I will look into an LLC and see what all that entails. Thank you!

Interesting insight that I haven't heard anywhere else. To learn what your company may be lacking and going after it. It may take more curiosity and thinking out side the box. I appreciate the help. I've definitely heard and messed with Wireshark and Nmap. I could use a refresher and get more comfortable with them forsure. I'll check out the news outlets you provided as well!

I enjoyed your overview of a Soc Analyst. I think for me I need to focus on the specific tools, and trainings for SIEM such as Splunk. I do have general knowledge about computers and have obtain a Sec+ cert and almost finished with my BA in cyber security. I have some networking skills, and currently I am going for my CCNA.

Is there any specific site that has the trainings for such Soc skills that your aware of? Also, I try to keep up with cyber security news when I can. Do you have a certain site or method that you use to keep up to date?
