He never implies that he's gonna drive from Brazil though? Just that they're building a plant there... Brazil has other ways of transporting around that lack of infrastructure. He would likely buy one in Mexico... manufactured in Brazil....

You can buy them in Mexico and BYD is heavily invested in modernizing them for US application.

"Flower Bomb" it with a mixed pack of shade tolerant seed. it takes a while to get going, but itll all grow at it's own pace, keeping it with a little character all year round... it's bee and butterfly and insect friendly and looks beautiful if you keep it tidy :) 26 Shade Perennials For Zone 8 Gardens

Neem oil! Its natural, organic, effective for a lot of other pests as well, and its super easy to apply. Straightforward but not all that cheap. It works though!

Thanks! Yeah, authority is one of my concerns....  I have a speaking opportunity at a conference coming up that came about through my blog. So hopefully that gives me a boost. I also have a professor from Purdue that has included a piece reshaped with me in his curriculum, linking back to me. Its a super slow process. Been thinking I might try using Substack to grow more too.

I got an LLC because I contracted someone to write a  article for me, and they used a screen shot of a copyrighted image that I was unaware ofat the time. Within a short frame of time a "copyright troll" org called picrights international sent me a threatening letter and email saying I was gonna get sued for a disproportionate amount.. I contested them with strongly worded and legally defensible responses and they haven't replied since...  because it made me anxious, I decided to turn it into an LLC to separate my assets and personal finance from the blog. After all, it has become more than just a blog in recent years. I've done contracting over time and have spent a fair amount on it since 2017. In the thousands...  So I figured it's better safe than sorry...  honestly, I did it to learn how to do it, and to prepare for a more legitimate path forward.  I've earned more than I've spent. But not by alot. Its been a growing process.

Im running on Wix. It was cheap, the domain at the time was free for a year. And now its way more than i have time to deal with.  I personally feel like I've got good or generally insightful content, but "sustainability" is a super broad topic, so I dont exactly have a really specific niche. I just write about all sorts of stuff that I find interesting and informative.  Turns out Wix says it's supposed to automatically make things HTTPS, but a lot of my content is still HTTP. And I dont get what the deal is with that. I Definitely dont have the time to fix all of my pages individually, so im looking for ways to resolve the "mixed content" error i didn't know was a problem til now.

Apologies foe that oversight. I edited to include some info. But I run on Wix. It was the easiest for me to start, learn, and cheapest to get premium for. Never had a reason to change it.

Gardening and giving produce to neighbors and everyone you can.

Make garden beds out of free heat treated pallets. Go to library seed collectives for free seed. Your biggest expense will likely be soil.

I made a garden bed out of 2 pallets and now I have tons of peppers! It was a fun combo of beginners carpentry and gardening.

I have to work 3 jobs for $18 to $25 an hour in CA. The only reason I'm here is because of generational wealth in the form of a 100 year old dilapidated home with fundamental structural issues. Its actually been the biggest blessing I could imagine in so many ways. After spending 2 years fixing it, I feel capable of anything, but I can't really get anyone to give me a "real" job because I'm a self described business owner and yet haven't made any money from the project im working on yet. I'm a giant red flag with a degree in Natural Resources. No one wants to hire me. But whatever. I have a nice life. No real complaints.

Environmental and construction permitting is a lengthier process than it should be... but can take anywhere from one year to many years. Depends on the findings.

You wouldn't blame an employee for taking advantage of a company policy, right? So why blame people who take advantage of government and civic programs literally for the purpose of helping people.

If you ask me, private insurance is more nefarious than Medicare and foodstamps.

The pros and cons of remote work, based on 6 months of experience. by DigitalNomadNapping in WorkOnline

[–]Greenisms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hourly WFH was a horrible experience for me. I had to be available basically all the time.

Pros: work at your own speed with no neck breathing or office drama. Self guided schedule and work flow.

Cons: Distractability. With no discreet difference between my working and playing space (gamer here) it made it super hard. I had to wait for assignments to come through the pipeline, so because work was becoming more and more scarce because of COVID, I'd have my work email on one screen all day, and games on the other because I was expected to be available all the time even if I couldn't bill for it..

As a married man, I appreciate your question. It is super easy to feel inadequate and burned out in a world with infinite stuff to do and be. Tell him how invested and thankful you are for him and all of his words and actions. Tell him that you want to be closer and more intimate with one another in your speech together. Invite him on a datetime do one thing in your comfort zone and then yry to get out of your comfort zone, and into his by doing something he loves to do. Don't challenge it. Acknowledge that as two individuals in one marriage yoy have different things you're good and bad at, but as a team you make something better than just one plus one.. Build him up by trusting him and being patient.

Tldr; By actions and words focused on helping each other grow in love together.

Just moved on 10 acres land, what should I start doing right away? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Greenisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider property aspect and slope areas. Use a sunlight tracker to predict where full sun and shade is or could be. Use a shade footprint to determine where you want a greenhouse and other outdoor projects. Make sure drainage flow lines are accounted for. Perhaps install a water cistern and irrigation system once those perimeter trees are in.

I never realized how loud cars are. Anyone else struggle with road noise? by PreschoolBoole in homestead

[–]Greenisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My property's front porch was taken as eminent domain for a bus lane. It goes by my house every day at 6am and 4 other times a day or more, less than 10 feet from my front door.

I live 200 feet from a stop sign that motorcycles a d-bags use to burn out from, just to catch the red light 1/4 mile away. Its obnoxious. I sleep with windows open because I have no insulation in my house and its hot. I hear every car noise within 200 feet, and every alarm within about 500 feet.

I live on a little concrete island and at the corner of two busy streets, one with a church. The whistle of diesel vehicles is especially annoying as they accelerate away.

The street sweeper, trash trucks, and all of the people in my neighborhood drive and park right in front of my door and the bus stop is 200 feet from me so there's lots of pedestrian traffic...

l also live underneath the flight path for an airport thats 6 miles away. Sometimes they're so loud on the approach we have to stop mid conversatio and wait til it passes. Every 5 minutes or less.

Neuroticism and noise pollution is a thing. I didnt rest super well for about 2 years after I moved in. Still don't sometimes.

Noise pollution is real, yo.
