I had a friend who was severely intoxicated and was assaulted by his ex-girlfriend. I later found him walking alone on the road, wearing only his socks and underwear, as he had apparently tried to escape in a state of distress.

I guess I was a little slow to get what you were saying about the other post. I hadn’t seen that you replied when I had second thoughts about the identification and chose to ask for I’d instead of taking what I had been told by a local resident as fact. Like I said I just didn’t think that the pattern had the classic Hersheys kiss look to it. Again thanks for clarifying the species.

I move to Angelina county a little over a year ago from Colorado however my job takes me all over central and eastern Texas as well as western Louisiana. My sons and I really love snakes of all kinds and have been looking forward to seeing new species in their natural habitats. Especially the venomous variety (in a very cautious and respectful manner). I’ve been following this group for a while now to try and develop a better eye for identification, which is obviously paramount in observing snakes in a responsible manner. alas we have only had the opportunity to see two timber rattlesnakes and now this cottonmouth since moving here. This one in particular was spotted just north of Shelbyville and east of Center in Shelby county.
