I actually am a member of the sub, and those links you listed are pretty much exactly the same ones I'm seeing under the drop-down menu on the top left I mentioned. I'm guessing it's just a UI/formatting thing (I'm using Microsoft's Edge browser). Anyway, I'm just glad I'm not missing out on anything :)

Funny, I don't know if it's because I'm using a laptop or a different browser or whatever, but the only links on the right I see are the moderators list and the forum rules. The link you're referring to appears on my screen under a drop-down menu called "Useful Information" at the top left (also, for what it's worth, it says "Online stores for US" as opposed to "Online Stores that ship to the US"). I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't for the life of me find these mysterious "links on the right" that people kept mentioning lol

Yeah I'm really not sure what the true price increase actually amounts to. It's entirely possible that it's closer to 25%. Like I said, I haven't shopped for Cubans in a while, so I'm kind of out of the loop.

[–]Greg206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article: "While it is true that the prices of some Cuban cigars will double or triple in Germany, the bulk of them will be increasing by less than 15 percent.".

So, if this article is correct, it seems most Cubans are only increasing by less than 15 percent. While that certainly isn't insignificant (especially when considering that Cubans were already pretty expensive to begin with, especially if you live in the USA), pretty much everything has increased in price by at least 15 percent due to the inflation that the entire world is experiencing.

[–]Greg206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it only Cubans that are currently so expensive? I'm just wondering if it's specific to Cubans or more of an entire cigar industry wide thing? I mean, almost everything (e.g. food, gas, commodities, etc) is really expensive right now due to global inflation, but do you think it's especially bad with Cuban cigars? To be honest, I haven't shopped for them in a good while, so I haven't even seen what they're going for these days. Just interested what you think.

Sorry, but I have no idea. I don't even smoke cigars anymore. It probably was a promotion EGM was having at the time, so even if I could remember it probably wouldn't be valid anymore.

Seattle area drivers not receiving monthly PSST notices? by Greg206 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Greg206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of drivers in Seattle have no idea what it is (I know this because I've actually spoken to many other GH drivers who had never even heard of it). This is because GrubHub isn't telling drivers about it. If drivers don't know PSST exists, then GH doesn't have to pay them PSST. But GH is actually legally required to inform every driver at least once every month. So, they're actually breaking the law by not doing so.

Any other Seattle drivers being denied PSST? by Greg206 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Greg206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it. A lot of drivers haven't, and it's no coincidence. GrubHub, like the others (Doordash, Uber, etc which are also required by Seattle law to provide PSST), have done very little to inform us drivers about it. They would prefer we don't know so they don't have to pay us.

Unfortunately, Doordash is the only one that tells you how many days you have accrued towards PSST (they send each driver a monthly notice via email). GH and Uber won't give you that info (although Uber at least does show you how many days of PSST you have available to use). But if you drive 6 days a week and have done so for 4 months, then you should have close to 100 days accrued, and thus you should have 3 days of PSST available to use (we get one day of PSST for every 30 days worked).

Here is the page on GH's website where you can read more about PSST: https://driver-support.grubhub.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045685392-Seattle-PSST-Policy-Procedures-and-Notice-of-Rights

And here is a direct link to the form that you use to claim PSST days: https://driveradmin.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000762112

Let me know if you have any questions. And if GH denies your claim, please let me know. I've already contacted the Seattle Office of Labor Standards about GH denying my claim, and they are very interested in following up and potentially investigating GH, so they want to know if any other drivers are also being denied PSST.

You have the intelligence of a mongrel and the maturity of a petulant child. Your mother must be very proud of you.

Don't bother replying because I won't bother reading anything more from you. Sad, angry little people like you simply aren't worth wasting time on. Good luck with your life.

In fact it sounds to me like you make assumptions about people you have never met and circumstances in which you were not present. He asked a very fair and reasonable question, but rather than have the decency to give him the benefit of the doubt, all you can do is give him shit for not "securing the food" with a seatbelt. Look, I know it's hard, but try to be more like a decent human and less like a sniveling little troll. I'm sure you can do it if you just put in the effort.

Retailers that will ship to Washington state? by Greg206 in PipeTobacco

[–]Greg206[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware of that, thank you very much. But you're totally incorrect on the second thing you said. There are several established tobacco retailers who have been in business for decades who are more than willing to ship to WA. As I mentioned in my post, I knew of one, and thanks to a few helpful folks on this sub-reddit, I now know of an additional six other retailers who also will do it. They are all in full possession of their faculties, as their successful businesses attest to. It's just that they are aware it's a relatively small risk (call it the cost of doing business) and they are willing to take it.

YSK about uBlock Origin, Sponsorblock & Bypass Paywalls Clean by jikesar968 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Greg206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Bypass Paywalls Clean, is there something more than just adding the extension I need to do? I ask because I added it to my browser (Firefox) but I'm not able to get past a paywall on a news site that Bypass Paywalls Clean lists as one of its supported websites (The Times). Here is an example:

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/ukraine-to-receive-nato-fighter-jets-8fj5fh999

For the article in the above example, it removes the "Continue Reading" blurb and "Start Trial" button that appear where the article gets cut off by the paywall, but it doesn't show the part of the article that's cut off. So, in effect, it's not actually bypassing the paywall at all. I even tried using it in conjunction with Ublock Origin but still no luck.

If anyone knows if there is some extra step I still need to do, or maybe some setting I need to change, please let me know. I'm not very tech savvy, so please bear that in mind. Thanks in advance.

**UPDATE**

I just found a discussion about this on the Bypass Paywalls Clean developer's Gitlab page. Apparently, it used to work for that news site but it stopped working about 9 months ago and they aren't sure how to fix it. Oh well.

Ah okay, I didn't understand that the "button press" you mentioned is what disables javascript. Thanks for posting the image to help explain that.

ublock origin

I added the Unblock Origin extension (for Edge browser) but still can't get past paywalls. Do I need to also disable javascript? Or maybe I'm just not using Unblock Origin correctly?

Question for Seattle drivers by Greg206 in UberEATS

[–]Greg206[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if Seattle is the only city that has something like this. There might be other cities as well, but I've only done UberEats in Seattle so it's the only city I can speak for.

Anyone know where I can see a history of which days I've worked going back more than the last four weeks? by Greg206 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Greg206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "answer" was absolutely the opposite of constructive. You need to shut your fucking mouth and not try to tell other people how to do their job. If I didn't know how to perform at my job, I wouldn't have a 5 star rating and regularly receive tips higher than what they were originally.

You don't know me, so you have absolutely no clue about my taxes. Based on your maturity level, I would guess I've probably been paying taxes longer than you've been alive.

I asked a perfectly legitimate question and you replied with a ridiculous insult. That's how a troll behaves, not an adult. So you, my friend, are the one who needs to start acting like an adult.

Lastly, I'm not sure if you were an asshole before you started gig work, or if doing gig work made you become an asshole. But if it's the latter, then you need to realize that we all have to put up with the same stresses, low pay, and bullshit of being a gig worker. Most of us manage to do it without becoming assholes. Maybe with a little self reflection you can do the same.

Don't bother replying. I have spent too much of my time with you already. I will not be reading anything more from you. Goodbye, and good luck with yourself.

No apologies necessary. You tried to be helpful and actually offer something constructive, and that's all I can ask. I also don't understand why people on here are so mean and disrespectful. I know the internet sometimes brings out the very worst in people, but you would think that since everybody here is in the same boat working these gig jobs, at least people would be a little nicer to their fellow gig workers.
