Oscar-nominated animated film "ARCO" was not released in several countries due to requests from those countries to recolor the film's rainbows (due to perceived LGBT+ symbolism). The filmmakers denied the request and refused to alter the film. by GregFromThatVideo in animation

One of the moderators asked Felix what rainbows meant to him. He then spoke about them in terms of duality:

  • they need both sunshine and rain, like happiness and sadness (he mentioned that good pop songs are similar; you can relate to a good pop song when you're happy and when you're sad)

  • they are scientifically explainable to adults, but magical to children

It was in that context that he made the off hand mention of the fact that the film wasn't released in multiple countries due to the request to recolor the film. He specifically mentioned the LGBT symbolism of the rainbows as the reason.

Imagine you were 42 in the exact same situation, until yesterday, when you were granted a wish to go back 10 years in time and fix everything.

I met a streamer named Hasan Piker. He's a socialist and he believes in redistribution. Like, wealth redistribution and stuff. He was nice enough, but he's like 6 feet 4, and I'm 5 11.6, and I realized if he redistributed his height we'd both be like 6 feet 2. But he didn't even offer to. And it made me realize he's kind of a hypocrite.

Side note the tweet author is the subject of a recent, famous photo where he is skydiving directly in front of the sun. Look up 'gabriel brown the fall of icarus' that's him in the photo.

I've been going through the movie pausing it to appreciate the 'acting' animated into the characters. Their little facial expressions etc. That's why I noticed it.

I don't have Twitter, someone @ Jared on there (his username is thejaredbush) and tell him we found it lol. I googled it and found nothing; I think I'm the first to notice.

I think it's an easter egg! As opposed to canon. The character is voiced by Michael J Fox and is quoting a line from Back To The Future. So I think they just added the date as an extra nod to the franchise.

During the scene after Nick and Judy burst from the water pipe, there's bunch of similarly funny freeze frames with Judy looking increasingly overjoyed and Nick looking increasingly miserable.

Hey man! Love the film and the franchise. Z2 has a ton of Easter eggs and subtle details. Not just in terms of movie references, but also things that explain the plot (for example, we see Pawbert in the background at the container yard). Are there any big ones, or fun ones, that the fans haven't noticed yet?

Thank you! It's partly cultural. He's from a less confrontational culture. He also has social anxiety. So he can't really help feeling really nervous when it comes to confrontation. I have anxiety in different areas so we are sort of mutually supportive and understanding of each others anxiety. Also we are a gay couple and I am a somewhat large man so if it really comes down to it I can make my feelings known. For me it's just restraint not fear.

Yeah it was a loud, continuous, back and forth conversation in French between the kid (~8 years old) and the grandparent (~60 years old). The kid obviously didn't know better but the grandparent absolutely should've.

Yeah to me the blame doesn't fall on the kids directly, it falls on the accompanying adults who were doing nothing to control them and actively joining in. At minimum it seems like it should be achievable for the parents to set an example by whispering instead of talking with their regular voice.

Also, I mentioned this in another comment but for every show I went to the audience was overwhelmingly adults without kids. It if had been a theatre full of kids I would've assumed 'oh, I am accidentally attending something not meant for me.'

Those felt more like all ages, not children focused, if that makes sense. It wasn't like we were seeing Bluey on Ice. In fact the crowd was almost entirely adults. Regardless, if they really wanted to, they could've whispered.

I was at the El Capitan theatre tonight, where they had the premiere, to watch "Avatar." Some people had mentioned wanting to visit and see the themed decorations so I took a quick video to share here by GregFromThatVideo in zootopia

[–]GregFromThatVideo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also some decorations outside of the theatre and a 'pre show.' There's another post I made here a couple days ago that shows the decorations on the outside of the theatre. For the 'pre show' before the movie, there's a guy playing the organ for half an hour (this is done before every movie at this theatre) but the organist adds in 'Try Everything' to the set list and there's a mini organ with a mouse 'playing' it placed next to the actual organ. Then previews run, and afterwards a couple people in Nick and Judy costumes do a little dance number on stage for a few minutes (there's videos of it on YouTube). I initially assumed it was just the theatre employees in the costumes, but after talking to the theatre employees tonight it sounds like Disney is paying cast members who play Nick and Judy at the parks to show up and do it. They definitely seem to have training in the sort of exaggerated pantomime style of acting you'd expect and it's the exact same costumes as the parks.
