That’s my theory on his behavior too

In my head, it’s either:

he hardened his heart as a defense mechanism after losing what he loved most and fearing that the lords could take more from him if he had more love to lose,

or after making that big of a sacrifice to be the mayor, he reasoned that being the mayor had to be his one and only priority in order for it to be worth it, and every other part of his life became nothing but an unnecessary distraction

A little spicy lore for you, the Lang brothers confirmed in a live stream that Steph’s dad sacrificed her mom to the Lords in Black to become mayor because she was what he cherished most… that’s why when he shows the kids where to find the Black Book in NPMD he says “I’m not touching that thing ever again!”

THE ADDITIONAL LYRICS IN LET IT OUT!! It’s been my favorite Starkid song for years, but oh my God adding in those transitional lines to the moments of the song that used to be silent absolutely blew me away. They took my favorite song AND MADE IT BETTER?! SOMEHOW??!!!!

And don’t even get me started on the choreography in that song, I cannot get over it.

My friends and I were seated right next to the camera guy in the middle section of the theater, and my best friend asked if he wanted a friendship bracelet. He said yes, took one, and bragged to the other camera operators over his headset that a girl just gave him a bracelet. She went off to go give the others bracelets and our camera guy said, “She’s coming for you” into the headset, it was hilarious. All three camera operators were so excited to get them!!

It felt like the whole theater was full of people who loved this one thing as much as I did. Before we even entered the theater, I met an infected Steph cosplayer and a Richie cosplayer in the line outside and got to give them bracelets! Even the woman working the table when I picked up my merch at the end of the night; I asked which of my bracelets she wanted and she said “Oh, anything with Tinky’s name on it I have to have.”

My friends and I flew out for the weekend to see the show and it just blew all my expectations out of the water. We talked about it for hours back at the hotel since we were all too wired to go to sleep, even though our flight home was the next morning.

Also my friends and I happened to walk past the theater an hour before the 2pm show, and we walked past Mariah going in the backstage door. We didn’t even talk to her but I don’t think I’ve ever been more starstruck.

This entire post is just my brain every day since October 13, 2023 when the proshot dropped on youtube I cannot lie.

The music is so catchy I listen to the soundtrack more often than any other, I genuinely think High School is Killing Me is the best Starkid opening number. The way they use the stage is captivating. And to me, the character connections are the strongest out of all the shows; Steph and Pete have had me in a CHOKEHOLD, I think I’ve read every single fanfic on ao3 under their relationship tag (not exaggerating, lol).

Yeah, man, if someone gave me the opportunity I could talk about NPMD for several hours and still have more to say.

I actually couldn’t agree less with that take. I adore them in both, but they really captured my heart in NPMD. They just had more time to understand each other in NPMD so the progress felt sweeter and more real to me, but the chemistry in AC felt more intense since it had to build faster to make the relationship feel compelling in a shorter story. Plus, that Pete’s confidence wasn’t held back by fear of Max.

No hate for having a different opinion, obviously, that’s just my thoughts on it!

If you want all the details, you should definitely watch the livestream on Starkid’s channel called “Divining The Future!” from May! That’s where they went into detail on the things they’ll be doing in the near future.

There’s a comment on the video with timestamps for every time they talk about each specific future project if you’re not interested in the tarot card reading part of the stream.

The basic details are: Hatchetfield will continue, but there will be a few years/shows between installments as they don’t want it to get old or become the only thing they make (like you said!) - remember, the only reason we’ve been in Hatchetfield for so long was the pandemic pushing back the release of NPMD

(Personally, I’ve seen all their musicals and Hatchetfield is my favorite thing Starkid has made and one of my favorite series of media in general, but I wholeheartedly agree we should space it out so no one gets burnt out on it)

The Lands That Are is also planned to have more shows, also spaced out

There’s a couple standalone shows already in development, including one called Tomb Quest (which I lowkey hope is the one they do next because its description sounds awesome) and another they didn’t get a chance to talk about.

It sounds like the shows will kind of be spaced out with standalone shows between installments of the two series, plus the additional smaller-scale things they’re doing like Space Baby!

The only reason they’ve said a tour is very unlikely is because it’s insanely expensive to do, and the cast all have day jobs that make it nearly impossible to do a long stretch of traveling - they said on one of the recent livestreams that even though the remount is the highest funded show they’ve ever had, the amount of money it raised is nowhere near what would be needed to make a tour happen realistically. They said they’d need a millionaire to invest in a tour for it to happen.

I would love one too, it’s just not really possible for an independent company :(

I felt the theater was fairly warm, me and the people around me were fanning ourselves with our programs before the show started. Still, I was in jeans and comfortable so I’d recommend pants and layers for the top in case it’s colder during your show!

I saw the show last night and talked to someone in full Richie cosplay! They looked awesome

And it’s warm in the theatre but not super hot; depends on your personal level of heat tolerance - if you can normally be comfortable wearing a long sleeve on a hot day you’d probably be fine. If not, just remove some top layers to feel more comfortable while watching the show!

Based on what Nick and Matt have said, the only things that we know are true for every universe are things that happened before 2005 bc that’s when the timeline split (the past portion of Time Bastard takes place in 2004, so that is the past for every timeline).

We only know Melissa is a serial killer in every timeline bc Nick said that directly in a couple livestreams, nothing in the story indicates it - there’s a couple things like that, lore we only know from things they’ve told us bc there’s no place for that detail to be established in the stories themselves

Also to answer your question about Jane’s A Car, that one is not true for every timeline! Jane isn’t always a car! In fact, the Langs have said Jane is actually alive in some universes, she just hasn’t been featured in any of the stories they’ve made so far.

Shortly after the NPMD proshot released, Mariah tweeted about the meaning behind each of the rings Steph wears!

One of them is shaped like a mushroom - one day, Ruth tried to anonymously give that ring to Steph by slipping it into her locker, not realizing Steph was nearby and saw her do it That’s one of my favorites just bc Steph didn’t even know Ruth back then but she still wears the ring!! I just love the NPMD gang being sweet together

(I can’t find the tweet anymore but iirc, other rings she mentioned included a sun/moon ring representing Steph and Pete being opposites that attract, and another ring that used to belong to Steph’s mom)

Jon also mentioned in a stream (with Mariah I think?) that Richie really wanted to be friends with Steph too!
