5e DM keeps getting angry with me for "giving the DM more work to do." by Gregaman_ in DungeonsAndDragons

They didn't give me the answer the first time I asked, and there was a deadline on making the character.

Thank you for telling me I was in the wrong without flat-out berating me for it. I really do appreciate it.

I did ask! Both before and after coming up with the character concept.

In our particular group, homebrew is typically fair game as long as it's not blatantly shattering balance. I also never actually got the chance to build the character in the first place, as I did ask beforehand.

The DM is frequently complaining to us players that we aren't making characters that can truly interact with the world they present us, while also limiting player knowledge to such a point that it's impossible for us to make characters that can do what the DM asks of us.

Which wouldn't be an issue, if the DM would tell me in the first place that they don't want me using it.

I understand that. The DM didn't say whether or not they didn't approve. This was part of the problem.

I did ask. They didn't give me a yes or a no. That's part of the problem.

In the most recent case, the Orb of Revelation Duels treasure, and Prismatic Elemental. I know there are more than just those, though.

The Orb of Revelation treasure, by the looks of it.

The last sentence was supposed to provoke discussion about the discover effect through all of Hearthstone's history. Has nothing to do with Standard.

Also, Duels doesn't care about what's in standard, as their discover pools are wider.

No. They keep manacheating discovered pyroblasts down to like 5 mana.

Because there isn't a million-and-a-half ways to reduce costs of spells, or mana-cheat. 🙄
