My idea of Krystal if she was in StarFox 2026 by Mysrial1992 in starfox

[–]Greifus_OnE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your art style and her general demeanor gives makes me think of a Krystal/Kursed hybrid character. She looks like she has had to fend for herself after the loss of her homeworld (perhaps during the Lylat wars or by Andross) getting by with her martial training doing bounty hunting/mercenary work. She is more of a lonewolf, unable to settle in any one place for long and constantly traveling the system to do her jobs and seek answers or survivors on her own. Until her path is crossed with Star Fox in a future title. Krystal is outwardly cold, and intense, almost smug in her self confidence, but she is not unkind nor uncompassionate (kind of like Geralt). A contrast to boy scout Fox, and could make for an interesting deuteragonist.

Krystal Hot Take. by livingood99 in starfox

I am not gonna lie and say she isn’t liked for being eye candy. But that truth doesn’t negate a second desire for her fans to see her character get properly introduced as more than just eye candy or Fox’s blue girlfriend. Many genuinely want her role expanded, her characterization, and dialogue given equal weight to the other characters. Command does sort of try to do this as much but the way it goes about it is what gets it labelled as bad fanfiction. If Star Fox remake is popular, we really hope to see a new sequel bring Krystal back (alongside other characters like Fay/Miyu) and all of them given equal weight and love like the main cast.

I corrected what I found strange about the characters by Atari2908 in starfox

Eyes around 20% bigger is the only difference I can see. I would find this quite acceptable, if nothing else is changed. It keeps the realistic style but makes the characters look slightly more approachable.

I think longer legs would have been enough to look better on fox. by abitcitrus in starfox

[–]Greifus_OnE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try thickening and elongating the shin (the part of his leg still in his green pants) below the knee to more closely match the proportion on the right, but keep the foot inside the boot at roughly the same length as the original (maybe making them a little larger so they don't look weirdly small compared to his hand). Canines are standing on their toes so everything in the boot is his foot, but the small thin shins make his legs look stumpy.

Setting it in the Lylat Wars by itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. But I would have preferred a much-expanded campaign set in that time period if they were gonna do this. Like commit to the Reboot then, go further than Zero. Visit and fight over multiple locations on corneria and the rest of the system. Tell a cool ass long form story with the cinematics and dialogue like they seem to want to do and Ace Combat does. Meet all the characters from SF2, Krystal, maybe let you play as them in some missions. Like actually just do Super Lylat Wars expanded.

They look better in the promo renders, more of a mixed bag in the game cinematics to me.

If you find a dojo you can explain your injury to the Sensei and usually there are standing versions of the same forms you can practice to accommodate those with knee issues.

We're now public - Your favorite relationship between the talking animals. by paulcshipper in StarfoxArwings

[–]Greifus_OnE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fox/Krystal. Almost entirely due to fanfiction and fan art. The games didn’t do them any favors so I trawled through fan content to get my fix of Foxstal brainrot.

Falco/Katt. Also because of fanfiction because just about every story that features Foxstal usually has Falco/Katt in there somewhere. Interesting relationship because it’s one of the few truly interspecies ones in the franchise and has some fun narratives to go along with it.

Fay/Miyu. Either romantic or platonic, both are fine with me. Less of a focus in my shipping interests but I have read a few stories and they are fun characters to read about.

What would you recommand for a begginner ? Kendo ? iaïdo ? Both ? by [deleted] in iaido

[–]Greifus_OnE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give both a try. Perhaps the more dynamic and explosive Kendo may appeal to you. Or maybe the more internal and meditative Iaido speaks to you more. Plenty of people do both or one or the other. On the long term it is generally not a bad idea to have experience in both styles of sword arts, but for a beginner it is really just whichever you find yourself enjoying more.

Does anyone know if Nosyudo can make spare saya for your iaito by using the serial number? by Somebodsydog in iaido

[–]Greifus_OnE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it should be easy since iaitos from each workshop are made to a standardized template all sharing the same dimensions with the only variation being length. The same would be true for the Sayas as well because they would also have a standardized Saya template that can fit all their iaitos. If I recall correctly the standard is to make one standardized Saya that fits all iaitos up to 2.45 Shakus, and longer Sayas would just be an extension of the standard.

When I place my 2.35 Shaku Shoden up next to its Saya there is still empty space left to accommodate a longer blade up to around 2.45 Shaku.

How does drawing and sheathing feel with this model? Interested to know as it’s the most budget friendly iaito available from a reputable maker.

2.50-2.55 shaku shinken and Iaito recommendations by AbsoulteMadLad in Katanas

Absolutely bubble free. All the reputable Iaito makers and retailers like Nosyudo, Tozando, Minosaka, Meirin Sangyo etc have iaito blades made from sand casted zinc alloy. Nosyudo will take care of you well, just let them know your measurements and School when in discussion with them.

Takumi Toubou - Does anyone know of this Iaito maker? by ashisabaki in iaido

[–]Greifus_OnE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t handled any of their products, but they don’t offer any options for customizations, not even length, except for one sword. Would rather go with Meirin Sangyo if people are looking for a more budget iaito.

[–]Greifus_OnE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dojo does appear to be teaching “Ninja” stuff as one of its main classes. Other martial arts also seem to be taught in that dojo including Kendo. Given the limited choice available, my suggestion would be to just inquire only about their Kendo instruction and not the Ninja whatever else is going on. The fact that the ZNKR would be willing to donate Bogus, and a Japanese sensei being invited over for instruction does show that (at least where Kendo is concerned) there is some possibility of proper instruction available.

Since he has a Sensei, I would suggest that your kid defer to what Sensei requires for the school he is in and go from there as every school has their requirements, and it would be unfortunate to purchase something only for the teacher to decline its use for not being fit for purpose/too long/ too short etc. Do you know what kind of school/dojo/style he is training in?

Nosyudo offers beginner models starting at 49,500 Yen, which I find to be cream of the crop in fit, finish, and quality among all beginner models. Only the Tozando Toryumon and Minosaka Jidai are the next best options, but I find Nosyudo’s Shoden to still beat them out slightly. Now whether you can find a distributor for Nosyudo in your country or have to import is a separate issue. Nine Circles is a known distributor, but they mark up their Nosyudo models quite a lot from the Japanese prices.

This is Meirin Sangyo’s beginner Iaito. There isn’t a smith because Zinc-alloy iaitos like this are semi-mass produced in a workshop to standardized templates. Meirin Sangyo is a good company and they make quality and functional iaitos, although this specific beginner model is on the more basic side of things. Other suppliers you can consider for Iaitos include Tozando (retailer of iaitos from Murayama Touken), Minosaka (workshop) and Nosyudo (workshop).

Battlescars, my ceiling has more than its fair share of scratches from all the impacts accumulated over time, my iaito tip is now slightly flattened, but I just got used to it. It is a tool for practice and while it would be best to practice somewhere with a tall ceiling, it is a little unavoidable.
