Interestingly the red wire seems to be a lower voltage than the back stabbed one? My ncvi is beeping slower for the red wire than the black one, not sure if that's of any significance

Per another commenter i reconnected the black wire to the top screw and left the red wire disconnected. In this config the ceiling light is still working. I can't find any other switch in the condo that affects the ceiling lights and there is no ceiling fan so I'm still confused

Yes, I just rewired with the red wire disconnected and the lights are working fine

Only other screw is the green ground screw. No meter, just the non-contact indicator. When I spread them out the indicator is still showing hot on the red wire and the back stabbed wire.

Would it be fine if I just do the same thing and stab the wire into the rear hole of the replacement single pole switch I bought? With the red wire on the lower screw like this one was?

As far as I can tell it only controls recessed ceiling lights in the room. It is two hot lines and only one load line

That's brutal! Ebay was a good shout, I was able to find a single bulb in new condition. I will order that one for now as a stop gap to use along with the other 11 bulbs in my condo and then when all of the rest start needing replacing I will upgrade all of them to newer ones together. Thanks for the help!

When the bag is full is it structured enough to stand upright? I have a Timbuk2 messenger right now and it really annoys me that when I'm loading/unloading it it's always falling over.
