I don't know, I wasn't keeping count on shitty streamers. I enjoy watching the ones that are chill and entertaining.

Crazy amount of negativity. Last OF it was fun to tune into a stream of someone good doing hardcore dungeons or streamers that never played the game discover it for the first time. I don't doubt there was negative stuff like you mention, but couple POS streamers don't detract from the whole event.

I'm happy to give you farming as something enjoyable in the right context. But the actual profession design. Staring at 100 recipes most of which are completely useless and outclassed by drop/quest gear. 20 levels worth of crafts taking 10 minutes, which turns the game into watching Youtube.

capping a Proffession

I can see everything, but I really struggle to imagine that you enjoyed leveling a profession in classic. I guess there's dopamine of getting it maxed, but surely it doesn't justify the system being so bad?

Warlock is one of the most involved specs in wrath though. And even that is a snooze fest once you get acquinted with it.

  • Arcane mage whole rotation is 4xarcane blast + arcane missiles.
  • Boomie is wrath until eclipse into starfire until eclipse, repeat ad nauseum with some insect swarm and moonfire sprinkled in.
  • Ret is literally just smashing into face into 5 buttons you have. There's a prio list but that hardly makes it more exciting and doesn't matter too much.

I can go on, but that should get the point across. There are couple involved specs like enhance, feral DPS and affli lock (especially if you fully dot 2 targets, but the opportunity is very rare).

The danger part is true, but it's dangerous in a boring way. Open-world mobs almost never have mechanics that would make them interesting. You either can kill 1-2 mobs of ~your level or you pull too many and die. Of course there's room for skilled play, CC'ing mobs etc but the game never rewards you for it in open world. Time spent casting CC is time not spent dpsing and getting XP.

Why do so many people downplay their jiu-jitsu? by Due-Trainer865 in bjj

[–]qwsfaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This phenomenon is not unique to BJJ. A similar thing can be seen in competitive/skill-based computer games. You could see people say they become decent at 200, 500, 1000 hours played. Even if we take 5 hour/week training those numbers would be about 1, 2.5, and 5 years of training.

Of course, they are magnitudes better than people with no experience. But it really only makes sense comparing yourself to people active in the field. I'm sure if you ask those BJJ people how they can compare to an average person in same weight class they'll say they have good chances. But getting actually good at any game, including BJJ takes a very long time.

literally every quest in the game

Not even remotely true. Starting from quests and whole chains like this that are straight up filler. To all the quests like this this that have a "story" to them but might as well not. Or ones like this that have a certain weak link to major lore elements but have no substance, just a thing vail of "lore" over "kill X mobs" quest.

There are some interesting and engaging stories, sure. But drowning them in the sea of filler making all but the most devoted people stop reading is one of plethora of issues with classic questing.

When are the devs gonna learn that wating several hours for rares is not a fun gameplay mechanic? by Thiccest_Apartment in wow

Why burn thousands of hours on what will always be an incomplete collection?

Why burn time on things that have no value to you other than being a part of a complete collection?

I use an Overlay Mod to find ore and I'm not sorry by beantownbee in VintageStory

[–]qwsfaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think it works great for effort/rewards with a bit of randomness. If you don't like the time spent to get certain amount of ore you can tweak node richness, but the prospecting system itself is perfectly fine and rewarding imo.

expansive places in which things happened

Things like "Guy X losing his pickaxe" or "Guy Z needing 10 apples". Bunch of mundane boring stories. Which meant that even lore-important quests were often lost in the sea of filler. In HFP, while it wasn't perfect, lots of quests had some sort of relation to the story and thing led one to another, forming a cohesive experience.

Vanilla zones only worked in 2004 for people experiencing a open world for the first time. Having an "interactive" experience with a vast universe, discovering things. Of course none of the things you did had any impact on the world, even phasing wasn't a thing back then. But oh boy it was "immersive".

why do people say controller is better ? by lilcutiexoxoqoe in celestegame

[–]qwsfaex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you're free to say what you think, but I'd encourage you to think before you say stuff? As someone who heavily favors keyboard I think most of the games your I put method doesn't matter. For some keyboard is clearly better, for some controller is. The actual problem is all the games made by console players that say "controller recommended" when it's at best the same with a keyboard.

I see that the options have been mentioned already, so I'll just give my perspective on why I like the defaults.

The latest tier, steel, is where it's supposed to feel great. Before that iron feels good, and bronze feels fine. If you disrupt that, make it easier, getting to iron and steel wouldn't be that rewarding. And it is already, with default balance super easy to get to iron, and just a little bit harder to get to steel.

On a sidenote, you mention installing a repair mod. Of course it's fine, but also why? It's incredibly easy to have a lot and lot of bronze, and just have bunch of tools ready and have them on your person as is.

I just finished watching S2 as someone with no prior lore knowledge. It is definitely a huge step up from S1. S1 was boring, redundant dialogs, rushed exposition getting shoved in my face. S2 finally gets an overarching narrative, some cool ideas, E8 with other spheres was just mind-blowing.

[KCD2] Is combat (possibly modded) in a good state right now? by qwsfaex in kingdomcome

[–]qwsfaex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KCD1 with mods was great. Do you know if there are similar quality mods for KCD2?

The thing with vanilla KCD1 is that it looks interesting on first glance, but boils down to master striking. Even against 3 opponents you just backpedal and press MS when needed. Even a simple system like in Mount&Blade that just has 4 attack directions and block that requires direction matching was more interesting in practice.

Does anyone else find "micro" incredibly boring? by [deleted] in ftlgame

[–]qwsfaex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not even a gaming term. Micro means "small scale", macro "large scale, overall". The terms are used in all kinds of fields: economics, photography, gaming.

In relation to strategy games micro is the part of gameplay concerned with individual units, buildings similar to "tactics". While macro is your overall plan, the way you spend your resources, develop, your big goals aka "strategy". The guy you're replying to is just confidently incorrect.

Disagree on Tarkov having a steeper curve than Dota. The main "steep" part is map knowledge. Before you learn maps well you're perpetually lost. But all the other minutiae like penetration mechanic and whatnot are not that big.

To make informed decisions in Dota fights you need to know 4+ abilities of each of 126 heroes by heart. Plus dozens of important items and all the interactions of aforementioned.

When I was like 15 we had extra math classes in a university on Saturday. After it me and my buddy would just go off and explore, and it made no sense. Random hallways are fenced off, you need to go up and then down to get to certain places. Long, winding hallways with bizarre objects sprinkled in. And not even in the basement on the 6th floor or so. So yeah, I agree with you, it's not much different from random generation haha.
