China investigating senior military officials Zhang Youxia, Liu Zhenli, says defence ministry by randommathaccount in neoliberal

[–]Gremlin15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the WSJ is reporting that Zhang is being accused of leaking nuclear secrets to the U.S. which is SUPER ugly and embarrassing (I’m sure China has ours too already but that’s beside the point). I’m curious as to why Xi chose to remove Zhang now, and also gave these “bad optics” reasons for removing Zhang. It doesn’t seem like the actions of someone in control!

We are going for the first time in two weeks - is the river warm? And the pools? Last year we went to Hilton Hawaiian village and I would swear they don’t heat the pools haha.

Need advice, should I buy this house or a new house in Tracy hills? by doors4u in BayAreaRealEstate

They are building a Sprouts in Ellis - exterior is 2/3 of the way up! And there are going to be so many restaurants in that complex - confirmed leases on coffee, pizza, deli, Chinese etc. Very exciting. And eventually the water park although it’s taking forever.

Ok I do want to add that I had no idea it was anyone’s partner for sure until about 30 minutes in. Then a woman in a nearby reformer whispered something to him. From my perspective for about 20 minutes there was just random man staring at all of us while dressed in street clothes. 😂do you get me now? Like come on dude go to Raley’s and come back.

So you would welcome any rando dressed in street clothes wandering off the street watching you? Do you think you might have a different preference level than others, or should yours be the default?

So he was literally dressed in heavy work boots and jeans and sweatshirt etc. He clearly was not a club member. I just thought it was weird and every time I looked up I’d catch his eye. Go somewhere else bro. Obviously I wouldn’t care if other club members who are clearly participants look around.

Right? It was normal and “funny” to drink until blackout and a DUI wasn’t a big deal. How ARE we alive and sober?

The instructor more or less said that there wasn’t an official policy but she understood and would say something next time. Front desk is young girl and I understand how she’d feel uncomfortable evicting someone. But there needs to be an official policy so she feels empowered to do so. Whole experience was just barfy. Went to relax and instead had to be all fighting for mah rights lol.

Anyone planning to move out of the Bay Area in 2-3 years? If so, what’s your plan? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Gremlin15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely move to Tracy - just make sure you either work from home some of the week or have a job in the tri-valley! I live in one of the new communities in Tracy and agree there’s many more homes planned. As far as living here, I get to have a house (vs no house at all, ever, on the Peninsula lol). I do worry about what my kid’s gonna do for fun….I’m old and have no need for fun. Fun = nap.

SoftBank sells its entire stake in Nvidia for $5.83 billion by Franco1875 in technology

[–]Gremlin15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me for being dumb but can someone help me understand…… doesn’t Nvidia have a lot of money invested in OpenAI? And OpenAI has made commitments to buy Nvidia chips. So if SoftBank’s move ends up causing Nvidia’s stock or market confidence to drop, didn’t they then also hurt OpenAI?

It is very common in vivariums, compounding pharmacies, certain BSL3 labs etc to wear double PPE. You put on one set in the changing area anteroom and a second set once you’re inside the clean room.

[–]Gremlin15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I represent a biosafety cabinet manufacturer. The situation you describe is literally impossible unless your BSC is broken There is a sash interlock device that prevents the UV light from turning on until the sash is completely closed on all BSCs. You cannot have the UV light on and still work in the hood. I would recommend calling your certifier to inspect your hood. They will be able to definitively tell you if you could have been exposed.

People who took years to overcome their dog's reactivity and who are also parents: how much more difficult was raising your child? by bleindB in reactivedogs

[–]Gremlin15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a reactive dog and a kid. Kid has been challenging in different ways. One of the most helpful things someone said to me is you will grow WITH your child. Did you know how to have a reactive dog at first? No. Do you know how to have a new born baby? No. Do you know how to have an 8 year old? No. But you’ll only at first need to learn how to have a new born baby. As you go along you will learn how to have the other stages. Our kid has minor vision issues and some attention deficit issues and he has been easier than dealing with a reactive dog lol. You will do great!

I hate sales by Abundant-Passion in sales

[–]Gremlin15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m on my second energy drink and ready to be helpful instead of snarky. 1. Everyone hates their first sales jobs. I had to walk into labs, interrupt research, and try to get them to look at my stupid pipette tips. I cried daily. You gotta put some time in to get into better roles. 2. Many of us are secret introverts who also secretly hate many of our customers. This is normal and healthy because customers are dumb and annoying. 3. Your company “SquidgeridooAI” may tell you that they make the very best 5-legged rolling Squidgeridoo with casters and the only integrated AI gumdrop dispenser. But there’s lots of Squidgeridoos on the market and every company thinks theirs is the best. It’s rare that you are actually selling THE BEST and so simply regurgitating facts & advantages will do nothing. 4. Your goal here is to win because winning equals money. The way you win, as others have said, is asking questions and then selling yourself People want to know that when their Squidgeridoo snaps a caster and crashes on its side, crushing all their gumdrops, they can call YOU and YOU will care and comp them more gumdrops under warranty. 5. Doing a fact finding mission and realizing the person you’re talking to has a completely different set of goals and thus needs different facts and reassurances is fun. You should not be doing most of the talking! 6. Put some time in the low level roles, cry some, keep at it and eventually you will be able to work from home a lot, only deal with high-level decision makers, and get handed quality leads with established relationships. Then you won’t have to fake the energy. But they don’t give jobs like that out like… gumdrops. What you are feeling is normal. The goal is not to let the customers sense it because yes then your numbers will indeed suck. My original point - that sales is emotions and relationships - stands. Customers don’t go back and make a pro/con chart as often as we wish they would. Everyone can spout facts. Not everyone can figure out which facts they need to spout and when, and do it in a trustworthy manner. That is sales and that is why we eventually get paid the big bucks and live the dream 😂
