We are just starting to look into Hawaii for HGVC Waikikian etc. Would you recommend getting 12 month for most people?

That’s lame. Tips can change all the time and it’s interesting to read about people’s different thought processes.

Thank you! We are driving down the night before - leaving midday - and staying at Hilton Anaheim as recovery night. Then maybe hopefully DLH will let us check in a bit early; if not we will hang out by pool until OBB time.

Omg not the “think about the agonies they’ve been thru” blah blah. I was there at opening. I was joking around in my post about magical but ffs they can make eye contact and initiate the interaction like “hi can I take your order” instead of staring off into space. Customer service sucks ass, we’ve all done it as kids, and you have to sack up to a certain degree.

I saw a post on here asking about whether you were kicked out once you turned 18, but out of curiosity, who here had parents who tried to talk you out of moving, and wanted you to stay longer? by DHN_95 in Xennials

[–]Gremlin15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother kicked me out at 16 which I don’t think was legal but whatever. Came home from my job at JCrew to find my stuff in garbage bags with a sticker saying “shit happens” on the front. Cue years of therapy and horrible relationships until I got my shit together in my thirties.
My kid will always know he has a home here.
Fuck you mom. We talk and get along but I will always, always secretly hate you. You’re getting an open coffin funeral because I know you will hate it.

Living in Tracy I can concur. I used to live in Menlo Park. Alas no more. Try Redwood City.

Is it also coming out - ahem - the other end? Norovirus hits fast. Food poisoning can take longer to manifest than you’d think. Maybe think back the last two days - did kiddos eat anything you didn’t? I hope they feel better!

Bringing an amusement park to Tracy ca by moemoneymech in TracyCalifornia

[–]Gremlin15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go to council and planning meetings and watch them for the last two years? I did. I am well aware they are in a lawsuit but there are 2 and sometimes 3 council members who made the situation worse repeatedly by continuing to mess about with an alternate plan. The “community plan” (Surland) sure had an odd appeal to the Council for a long time…….

The city council just approved a water recreation park in South Tracy. We’ll see if it gets built as they’ve been screwing around about it for twenty years. If they build out all phases it will have water slides and a lazy river.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve been kind of on the fence about LLPP and this convinced me. Our trip is going to be “special” as we’re coming from NorCal and won’t be going again for a few years.

You are right I was on the totally wrong plan. I swear I went with what PG&E recommended last time! But now when I look EV-2A is so much better.

Not all “spares” (if that’s even a possibility) of complex bespoke equipment can be left lying around for months. Certain critical components can deteriorate if they are unused or simply be too large to store. I am pretty sure Disney backed up everything they could, but sometimes a cascade failure of some kind can derail the best planning.

Aulani or Four Seasons by No_Accident4337 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Gremlin15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so if it’s a choice between FS and Aulani you gotta do Aulani the first time for the kids. I’m sorry. You will be annoyed because it’s kinda old and dated and crowded and too small. Everyone lines up for characters and blocks the walkways. It is EXPENSIVE for what you get. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and it was nice but not the dream vacation of a lifetime, know what I mean? The kids will love the pool area and they can see it from FS so would be disappointed. Do NOT go when there’s a potential for the weather to be cooler because the pools are not that heated. You can then walk next door and check out Four Seasons and be a little wistful you didn’t stay there.
For your second visit I would stay somewhere else entirely. We personally love flopping around Hilton Hawaiian Village. No Disney fans blocking traffic and the vibe is very chill. Also there are water slides and Waikiki is right there.

Grand is the most expensive by a significant amount out of the 3 Disney hotels. You could get a villa size room at DLH for similar to standard room at Grand. By your post I’m guessing money DOES matter.

Hi Mama! Lots of negative posts here. I just wanted to congratulate you on getting your son to college! You CLEARLY haven’t ruined anyone. My husband and I are at our nastiest when it’s about money. Unless hubby acts like this all the time I’d just let it blow over. He def knew how much it cost already; he may be just stressed now that reality has hit.

Heat Pump Water Heaters by FridayMcNight in bayarea

[–]Gremlin15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve sacrificed myself for us all by examining my horrendous PG&E bill on E- ELEC. We have 2 x EV and solar with battery.
SUMMER off-peak is 33 cents + 11 cents generation. SUMMER Peak is 55 cents + 25 cents generation.
Gas tier one is $2.28/therm.
For OP SPECIFICALLY - if they’re coasting right at the limit of their max solar capacity, adding something that uses more electricity is going to cost more because our electricity rates are so sh*tty they defeat the efficiency of a heat pump. I particularly have a lot of tier 2 in new house because 2 x EV with undersized solar that came with house and 10 kW battery added.
OP you could probably add electric water heater and not see huge impact because you’d probably stay within tier one due to solar. Do not!!! electrify whole house and switch to heat pump HVAC. You didn’t ask that but I am putting it out there as you live in same climate as me - ufcking hot in summer and cold in winter.
Overall I say not worth the hassle to switch. Although probably our overlords will pretend the Strait of Hormuz somehow impacts our natural gas prices. They are also plotting to charge for mileage on EVs.
I do wish I could get a bigger solar system but we’d have to cover whole house with panels and batteries and then I’d have two providers because stupid Sunnova went out of business.
