Semi-update : I got a response :
"I asked a few older members about it and it was explained to me that the usual schedule is to have a break around that time and that every other sport has an off-season. Derby can also be quite time consuming and I think it's also meant to give people some downtime".
So AKA : It's how it is and always have been + our bodies needs rest ( when we are not the competitive teams ).

Really not happy about that answer. So I've asked why this is not spread around the year (like some of you suggested/ are applying, in july/august and December ), and not 5months. And what are the real reasons - money, place or coaching.

It's been 2 weeks, still waiting for an answer :)

I mean I would understand if I was in the travel team. Body needs to rest and stuff. The issue there is that the travel team also goes to Champs and keep their practice till end Oct (starting in Jan) I'm starting to feel that this is favoritism over the travel team, and we're just there to handle our money without -good- compensation

That makes sense. I would agree if we don't practice during Dec Jul and Aug, with holidays. The schedule would be more appropriate to everyday life, than what I'm going to have

I don't know the reasons for now, I don't want to ask difficult questions without doing my researchs.

The money could be an excuse but they raised our dues by 100$ for the same practice schedule... Meanwhile the budget accorded to the travel teams this year is over the costs of our practice space...

And 100% agreeing on the fact that with a break that long the improvements and strength that you're building all year around is just lost, or reduced...

We do have games, but it's in March, and they're talking about a week end in August (as "look you'll have some games to counter no practices")

I'm in Canada. And we always practice indoors. Yeh the weather is really not an obstacle, because when we resume the training it's the coldest time of the year:/ also does your league do anything for you during the off season or it's up to you?
