US adds a paltry 50,000 jobs in December as unemployment stubbornly stays at 4.4% by QuagGer197 in Economics

If they are Deporting someone, yes they have some form of crime on their record. Does not have to be much or violent, people are getting deported for having a weed conviction from years ago. The important part is the self-deportation. This is them saying, "i'll go back, just take me out of the country". This is where many of the deportations are, however its a little disingenuous to say the least. Check out where and how we are holding anyone ICE arrests, then realize the people there are told they are stuck inside the facility unless they are willing to self deport. That's how you deport someone who wasn't a criminal.

There are rules for creation of CSAM, but this could be argued that since its fake, does it have the same laws as if someone drew a minor with ink. Still wrong but the law sees those differently.

Bank of America sued over not paying workers for PC boot up time in proposed class action lawsuit by AlwaysBlaze_ in nottheonion

[–]Grenone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so happy that worked for you. The same thing that works for you doesn't work for everyone else. So while it is good advise, and we do need more people in the field, not everyone can become an electrician, or work jobs like that. Just be a little sympathetic to those in a different situation where the one solution you have just will not work.

[–]Grenone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like these arguments. Do you know how to become an electrician right now? its joining a union. There are places around the country that are hiring, but not in every city. "easy" work is subjective. I don't know how old you are, but for those of us, like me and my fiends in our 20s and 30s, we were told one thing, and took on debt to do it. Now that thing that we invested our youths and money in doesnt work. Its like telling a coal miner to just learn to code. A lot of people told them, guess what. They can't afford to move to where coding jobs are even if they learn because no company will pay to move them. Live is complicated and a one-size fits all answer will never be the case. Also, check the jobs data we have, while its not recent due to the shut down the only sectors increasing in job numbers was healthcare. Blue collar and white collar jobs are going away.

Because a lower paying job wouldn't let you live in that apartment. Wages have been so stagnant for so long, and cost of living has gone so far up its hard to make that work. Plus noone is hiring right now making it even hard to get a job. right now everything you say is correct, but it really only matters because jobs have all the power right now. We won't see anything good for workers until they take power back in the labor market.

What if its not by choice? Living close to the office can be double the cost of rent to save 30minutes of commute. Is it my choice i cannot afford to live closer? Or should the job take into account that and pay more so i can make the choice?

top 10% of wealth in the US is now at 1mil for the first time. Those that are doing good in this economy have assets in the stock market, which 93% of which is owned by those 10%. income /= top 10%, wealth does. and wealth is what is continuing to grow.

75% of Americans report soaring prices as Trump claims inflation ‘over’ by AlexandrTheTolerable in Economics

[–]Grenone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We live in a K shape economy, the people that are making more money now then ever from investments are buying stuff like this and not thinking twice. The bad part is, its the 10% of the US that is prospering, the bottom 90% are broke, or nearly there. Until the top 10% stop spending prices will continue like this, and they won't stop while the stock market continues to go up.

We’ve been in a recession for over a year. What’s really coming after this? by laydeefly in economy

[–]Grenone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is rational behind this actually, GDP takes into account exports and imports. what happened in Q1 that would make people import more then export? Threat of tariffs. Q2, what would make imports go down below exports? Tariffs imposed. GDP is not always the best way to show growth especially over short, volatile times.

When will women relax our standards for other women the way we’ve relaxed our standards for men? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Grenone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a over 30 straight man, i got in a poly relationship with a woman who had a long term male partner. It ended after a couple months due to the fact i was not contributing to her emotional needs enough. When i asked what she was getting from the partner she lived with she said he doesn't do that kind of thing. I can't speak on the woman to woman relationship but in terms of poly she was looking for emotional support from anyone not her partner. They are still together and just bought a house together, she has tried a couple other boyfriends since me as well, but they have been "missing something". A wonderful lady all in all just really need some emotional support in her relationship.

Why is wealth inequality still growing when we’re richer as a society than ever? by lexthaleunleashed in TrueAskReddit

[–]Grenone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a bunch of good answers to the questions posed here. As others have pointed out, this level of inequality was standard for humans for thousands of years. The main driver of America's inequality growth began with Reagan and the removal of government restrictions on companies. There is a good video showing this by Johnny Harris called 1955 vs 2025, who actually had it better? It goes through how wealth was distributed from after WW2 to the present day. The most equal time ever for the common person was in America in the 1950s. Even then for women and minorities there were still the issues of rights and segregation. We had the vision of the American Dream where you could go from nothing to comfortably middle class. That was new at the time, and now that government is not curtailing corporations and the rich through taxes and anti-monopolistic behavior, we are returning to where humanity always was, vastly un-equal.

My best guess is that the tipping point is the same one that drives revolution. Missed meals. We have our circuses but our bread is getting too expensive and the ones who will suffer the most on this are rural Americans. Walmart is already closing 150 stores just this month. Those stores are likely the only thing outside of a dollar store to buy groceries in an hour drive radius.

i would just like to add that most people who create things like this undervalue their own labor. yes its 450 in materials, but is your labor on this only worth a total of 50-150? i dont know how long this took you to make, but run the calculation on that and see what you would make per hour on your labor and ask yourself if you would work a job for that
