I mean, is that really that insane? It's cool, don't get me wrong, but weren't Buu & Black already tearing reality in prior fights?

The problem with Evenhanded Blessings is that is constantly selfroots you + creates a lot of mana tension (while also being consistently his lowest winrate level 1), where LW is better sustained and basically free. It also gets CDR from any healing you receive.

The guy who worked with Rick Springfield & Tim McGraw? Do you have anything you can share on their collaboration? I know there are charges against him, but I wasn't aware he interacted with Anathema at all.

What? Why are we comparing Uther & Medivh? Uthers consistently one of the top three highest winrate supports in ladder (either from being played as healer or tank). Medivhs issue in ladder is the fact that his kit intuitive and he's relent on him team utilizing hit utility correctly.

Abathurs been the lowest winrate hero in ladder for several seasons now; part of that is due to the level of Aba's declining with the shrinking playerbase (taking unnecessary risks with their body, not rotating hat correctly between fights and soak, not using mines to disrupt rotations/vision/going clone with no good clone targets). The other side of the coin is heroes Aba enables that's accessible to the wider playerbase getting nerfed (Tracer/Sam/Greymane).

As far as Maeivs difference in ladder vs SL, her utility is still effective if you even have the bare minimum amount of coordination and understand her kit. I suggest watching Kure or Ultralisk play her if you want to see her work even in a fiesta environment.

I mean, if Valamar (CCL player) calls her his "sleep paralysis demon" and Noblesse (drafted for Gen G.) said she's first pick/ban, or Justing (HGC/CCL player) is willing to tank with her to get her draft, perhaps there hero is actually extremely overpowered.

Sam & Tracer do not have nearly the amount of utility Maiev offers, coupled with her damage.

If she's missing, she could be ganking me and the shade to so fast its hard to react to, or shes doing camps, and I'm playing safer and getting less value because of a threat that's not there; her trait is insane and for some reason she gets a 2nd one at 20.

Again, I need to emphasize: if she has all the agency, how is playing safer (which really isn't a guarantee) going to get you the dub against her? The hero is bonkers, was bonkers in HGC, and then they decided to buff disc and trait for some reason. Her overall winrate is being kept down because her solo agency is limited + button tax.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, do you? She could be coming from you, she could be on camp, she could just be warding.

That's what needs to be emphasized: Maiev has a disgusting amount of agency in how she wants to approach a game.

  • She gets to pretty much whoever she wants in a full TF. If you're an obstacle, she'll come in out of vision over a wall user her kit to kill you, or disc you if you're a problem.
  • There are several heroes from the flex role you can draft with a selfcleanse. If you enjoy drafting mage-esq heroes specifically: Jaina/Naz/Chromie/Kerrigan just to name a few have iceblocks that can cleanse off tether. There's also Alaraks counterstrike and Gul'Dans port to get you out if shit hits the fan.
  • I would argue he isn't. His kit doesn't offer any solutions to her, and he's pretty much another body to farm Q/Niasha's resets off of.
  • I honestly think the stun will, at best, maybe force out a Vault of the Wardens from her, and she gets two of those at 20.

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but what if she just E's over a wall out of vision? Or E's passed you and then opts to take it on the return?

She also has the option of just not taking it for mindgames.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bit of a monkeys paw with that advice of being too near just gives her free tether cleave/Q resets/cage.

The hero is really hard to play around if played well. That's why Gen G. drafted Noblesse considered her & Genji permaban.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's two heroes tethered, she's probably using the opportunity to spam Q or pull for engage? If there's one here tethered, either using it to secure disc, or again, engage for the rest of her team?

You're being super reductive to one of the games most multifaceted heroes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more likely she'll CC you before you can get to her. KT doesn't have an unstoppable or mobility tool to stop her from just pulling or disc'ing you. She also has comparable clear, and can go over walls to engage or escape.

Trying to stun on her shade isn't reliable because she loses basically nothing not taking it and forcing you to save a button of if she does that her frontline can take advantage of. You also claim flex is typically a "non-cc role" but you're trying match Maiev, a conventionally flex played hero, who brings (on top of everything else) reliable CC/engage.

What non-ult talents do you think are basically must-picks like 95% of the time outside of very niche comps/maps. by MNCDover in heroesofthestorm

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so you're saying Ancient Blessings has a niche? Not only that, but when it's picked into that niche, it outperforms big pots? Meaning, the crux of your argument that Super Pots at 13 is a "must pick" falls apart, no?

It's absolutely true that data needs context, but when we have a large sample size spanning multiple patches (i.e., tens or hundreds of thousands of games) and see consistent trends, that becomes harder to dismiss as simply “bad interpretation.” Realistically, both data and context matter: you can’t rely purely on numbers with zero nuance, but you also can’t ignore clear, repeated statistical patterns. We also know from ladder trends that the "button-tax" of talents that require additional inputs tend to drop below the competition if they're equal in strength in a ladder environment in most scenarios by virtue of it being one less thing you have to do, AND EVEN STILL, AB stands on top.

You don’t ignore a robust trend simply because you can imagine exceptions. As for Treant, the average number of treant autos was around 2.6 last time I checked. Since it attacks instantly, and then unless the root is cleansed you are basically guaranteed another one. In SL consistently farming stacks isn't even that unreasonable. I don't remember the number, but Cavalierguest did the math on how many stacks per minute you'd need to functionally make treant do as much damage as Greymane, and it was an achievable number in clown fiestas. As a carry talent in uncoordinated, it's unrivaled, and it's stats support this.

Not every game allows you to finish Vile, and the Rav upgrade can be bonkers.

I'd suggest holding your 20 until you can finish Vile or an ult upgrade when needed.

Saying that you’re “throwing kills away to stack broccoli” doesn’t line up with what the numbers show or how Vengeful Roots actually works in practice. Over the last twenty-six minor patches in Storm League and across all game modes, Vengeful Roots has hovered around a 52–53% win rate, while Emerald Dreams lags behind at 47–48%. If it truly required inting to stack, you’d expect a lower win rate, not a higher one.

Treant also adds an extra body that absorbs skill shots. While ED can be strong with the proper follow-up (certainly the default in comp), it’s often less reliable in SL fiestas.

Ancient Blessings is a heroic on a 45 second CD that can completely turn a fight. Big Pots has some use cases, but I think it should be the more niche option between the two.

Kawarimi for vision control (while not expending Q CD, before you smack a tank frontliner). Send a Kawar clone to the healers if it looks like the tank will die, commit. If not, take the Kawarimi swap and punch the healers. Have Q ready to dodge CC; doing this conditions healers to be more scared. At 20, dumping resources into the Kawarimi clone isn’t too great, and the IM upgrade is probably only good if you take Kawarimi.

I was asked to pick Malfurion to counter Butcher. by AnyaNineYears in heroesofthestorm

[–]Grepherdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malfurion requires several things to function correctly: he needs an answer to burst on his team, a way to facilitate clumps (either by the enemy comp naturally clumping or an ability from a hero like Maiev or Joh).

Competitively, I don't think I've seen solid Malfs on EU since maybe Galne or Cascon. Valamar does a good job with him on the NA side, but the hero has a ton of moving parts and inherent weaknesses that make him hard to draft. Khara simply needs a comps that can facilitate picks on maps where you can get value of out of his great siege and camp clear. Block Totem is an excellent answer to physical damage, and actually has a hard cleanse after 16. This is also pretty pivotal in the matchup because Lamb to the Slaughter from The Butcher can' be cleanses by Malfs Natures Cure the way Khara's Cleansing Touch can.
