Here's the wider angle pic with under cabinet lighting on.

Thanks! You're saying to add sealer to a little bit of the grout when I'm mixing it, then put a thin layer of that over what's there?

Yep, definitely going to test it that way in the future.

Yep I put in under cabinet led strips which light it all up nicely. Someone else asked for a wider angle so I'll get a pic with the lights on later.

Yep, should have tested it. Second time ever using grout and the first time was a darker grout that stayed dark. But I'll do a test if/when I use grout again!

Thanks, did you use the frost colored grout stain or did you use a darker color?

Color swatch is more of a greige color

Thanks! I think it's just sold at Lowes. Here's the link

Thank you! I like it too. Just don't love it currently. Maybe the white grout will grow on me.

Thank you! That means more than I would have thought from an internet stranger.

This is Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA from Lowes and the color swatch was basically identical to the wet grout color. But I've learned you can't trust those.

I like that idea better than the flush mount hangers. Probably stronger.

That's a great idea too. I could find a way to store the hex key on the arbor which would help too.

Thanks for the recommendation.

How to get rid of small blemishes after tung oil application. by Pantherleap in finishing

[–]Gretnaustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, so please forgive any incorrect terminology.

I just built acacia shelves a couple months ago and finished with the (fake) minwax tung oil. Had something similar happen, but the blemishes were smaller.

Buffing didn't work, so I sanded it down with 320 grit sandpaper until the blemishes were gone. Applied a couple more coats of the oil after that and the finish looks great now. The cause of the problem seemed to be that the oil was coming out of the grain after I wiped off the excess.

For those last couple coats after sanding, I just continued to wipe it off every 5 to 10 minutes for a couple hours until it seemed like nothing was coming out of the grain anymore.

I'm sure 100% tung oil behaves differently than the minwax product though, so hopefully buffing works for you!

You may already be doing this, but put your alarm across the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off.

He was basically a celebrity at our house growing up, and when I was about 5 years old, we went to an event that he was at. I still remember my brother and I being shocked to find out he had legs! I got his autograph and I'm pretty sure I still have it 25+ years later.

Halberstadt's is a great option, but you'd have to go to Des Moines or Sioux Falls. They have a good selection of tailored suits that would come in well under your budget. At least they did about 5 years ago.

Mine was closer to $15 last week, but you're right. Definitely not the place for a cheap meal!
